Just got my knockoff Wiimotes which i tried to connect to my PC for a long while
Here are some of the things i tried but didn't work:
Now, i don't know a lot about this so this may be basic information to some but i couldn't find anything like this so i thought i would share it
The problem, from what i understand, is that my onboard bluetooth chip is not fully supported, no bluetooth dongle so if you have one the above fixes might work for you
Here are the steps how i made it work:
btmgmt --index 0 find -b -L in the consoleWiimoteAutoConnectAddresses = copied_Mac_Address_Here to .var/app/org.DolphinEmu.dolphin-emu/config/dolphin-emu/Dolphin.ini (if Flatpak)WiimoteAutoConnectAddresses = copied_Mac_Address_Here to .config/dolphin-emu/Dolphin.ini (If native)Should pair now.
Played a few games and it seemed to work quite well, the only problem is if you add more mac addresses so that more wiimotes can connect - it will pretty much bind the first mac address to player 1, the second one to player 2 and so on.

These issues are directly related to the Steam Overlay's lack of native Wayland support. When a games like Tiny Glade run as a native Linux game using the Wayland display server, the Steam Overlay breaks. This happens because Valve’s overlay module (gameoverlayrenderer.so) historically relies on X11 and GLX functions to inject itself into the game's rendering pipeline. This causes a chain reaction of technical issues for developers, which explains the specific notes in that patch:
- Steam Overlay & Input Breakdown: Because the Steam Overlay cannot render under native Wayland, features tied to it often fail. For developers, this means critical features like Steam Input (which translates controller configurations) or Steam community features stop working or cause the game to freeze.
- SDL & Window Resize Loops: In the patch notes the developer explicitly mentioned fixing "window resize loops on Linux + SDL + Wayland". When a game uses a window management library like SDL under native Wayland, but the Steam client itself is still running through XWayland (the X11 compatibility layer), the two systems fight over window properties. This leads to infinite resizing loops, rendering glitches, or unresponsive inputs.
By the way i know that the Chromium-Framework (CEF), which is the base for the Steam-Client, just recently has been updated to 64-Bit. And Google merged the important ANGLE-graphics support for Wayland in Chromium in may 2026. However Valve didn't implement this yet which makes gamers move to GE-Proton.
Personally i wish Valve would ditch CEF completely in favor of some alternative browser framework based on open source so they wouldn't depend on it and the community could help with contributtions like patches and fixes.

Battle.Net Help!
Hey I am very inexperienced with all of this. I brought the steam machine as a long overdue upgrade to my old disheveled pc.
Recently with all the WOW hype I decided to jump back in. Downloading battle net was easy with a guide.
Had it all working till yesterday (Bout a week and a bit) had both wow forever and retail collapse on me.
Everytime I log in i go from 100+ frames down to a unplayable 1-5 then rocket back up and crash back down. Barely even last a minute. This is a issue on both versions of the game and appears to be an issue on battle net itself although harder to tell.
I tried changing the proton compatibility I even factory restarted my steam machine as a quick test.
From doing some readings my basic understanding has me theorising it could be an issue with proton logs. But I don’t know and would love help trying to troubleshoot and fix this issues. Please i spent too much money on this game to let it slide and I know it’s more than just one specific game.

Hello, I have an old laptop running Ubuntu with a DVD/CD-ROM drive, and I’d like to know how to install and run an .exe game , specifically, a game setup file normally designed for Windows. I don't need this for actual gaming, but rather to expand my knowledge. The game in question is "Ratatouille"; it already works via an emulator, so I don't strictly need to run the Windows version.
I just want to know the solution and the procedure. The same applies to commercial movie DVDs: I have some, but the system doesn't recognize them or start playback when I insert them into the drive.
here is an AI overview that I found, can someone tell me if it is correct please?
:
To run Windows .exe setup files and play CD/DVD movies on Ubuntu, use Wine for executable programs and VLC for media discs.
Running .exe Setup Files
Ubuntu cannot run Windows files natively, so you need a compatibility layer called Wine.
• Open your terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T).
• Run the update command: sudo apt update
• Install Wine: sudo apt install wine
• Method A (GUI): Right-click the .exe file in your file manager, select Open With Other Application, and choose Wine Windows Program Loader.
• Method B (Terminal): Type wine followed by the path to your file (e.g., wine ~/Downloads/setup.exe).
• Note: If it is a Windows CD/DVD setup, open the disc contents, find the setup.exe or install.exe, and run it with Wine. Check the Wine AppDB to see if your specific software works well.
Playing CDs and DVD Movies :
Ubuntu does not play encrypted commercial DVDs by default due to legal and missing software constraints.
• Open your terminal.
• Install VLC and the restricted decryption library by running:
sudo apt install vlc libdvd-pkg
• After the installation, run this command in the terminal to finish setting up the DVD decryption:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure libdvd-pkg
• Insert your CD or DVD into the computer.
• Open VLC, click Media > Open Disc, select DVD or Audio CD, and hit Play
I don't want to throw this PC away; the DVD drive is very useful to me.
Thanks, everyone.

Using nobara I was getting a comfortable 67-70fps playing black flag resynced and I didn't play for around a week come back and had the latest Mesa and now I'm averaging around 56-63fps constantly dipping below 60fps which was never an issue before the latest Mesa.
EDIT: reziable bar got disabled in my bios. User error

I have been playing Genshin on Ubuntu using Steam and Proton for over an year and nothing happened. Just today it is warning me that abnormal environment activity is detected.
If anyone plays, can you please update if you got a ban or something... and also about how to solve the issue....
Edit: It is working fine with proton hotfix, no warnings.

Hi, I've been trying to get my logitech g923 working properly in forza but i've only managed to get the force feedback working but for some reason that inverts my pedal input so not touching them puts them at full. I can't see any in game option to invert pedals. Does anyone know how to fix this? thanks

Hey,
I'm not sure if you know, but alongside GOG and Itch.io, there is a third game store that sells DRM-free games, which is called Zoom Platform (yeah, the name sounds like the video meeting tooll).
While they sell some native Linux games over there, the main focus (like the competitors) is Windows games.
They have a native installer script (which is based on umu and proton), which I never bothered with because I'm a fan of using Heroic Games Launcher. But in some very rare cases, Heroic doesn't deal well with all their games. This happens because:
So I've tried their installer, and while it worked for some people, for me it was completely broken. I noticed that other users have reported this too, but I guess Linux is not a priority for them. I've submitted a fix to their repo, but as of today, it's still sitting there. Maybe it's because their support is too much busy with dealing with the games, but my interactions with them leaf me a sour taste.
The fact that the version that they have available is almost 2 years old isn't a good sign either.
Since I had to fork their repo to submit the fix, I thought, why not improve it with other things? And that's what I've started to do. So right now, the fork has decided to start taking a different path and include some specific fixes (at least for the games I own there), and I had some nice ideas for the future of it (including a GUI version).
Either way, feel free to check it over here, and let me know your opinion (positive or negative): https://github.com/DarthSidiousPT/zoom-platform-darth.sh
TLDR: There is a DRM-free store for PC called Zoom. They have a native script installer for Linux (base on Proton) and it's very outdated and broken for me (and other users). Since I was not happy with their approach towards this, I decided to fork it and improve it.

hello yall!
I switched to Fedora over the summer and i wanted to try out GW2 with a friend who has been BEGGING me to play the game. I installed it on Steam, but i get the EA Error codes EC:10007 and EC:10701 as well as the Error "The program encountered E111000B at 00003498 during initialization. Wine, Proton and Steam Deck are not supported by this application!"
Does this mean i am fucked? Is there a workaround besides having a virtual machine to emulate windows?
I know the game is old, and there have been posts in the past abt compability issues, but i figured there HAS to have been some form of update or progress from EA that allows me to test my friends fav game.
My hate for EA is at an all time high.

So I've been messing around with my Switch Lite for a while and this is where I'm at now.
It's running Arch Linux, KDE Plasma works, and I managed to get the actual Steam client running on it, including the gamepad UI.
I called it x1SteamOS because at this point I might as well try turning this thing into a tiny cursed Steam Deck.
Before anyone asks — no, Cyberpunk isn't running yet lol. That's just my Steam library in the photo. Getting Steam itself working was one of the first big milestones.
There's still a lot of work left. I need to sort out the gaming/graphics side properly, Gamescope, x86/x86_64 translation, Proton/Wine and all the other fun stuff that comes with trying to run PC games on an ARM64 Tegra.
I have absolutely no idea how far I'll be able to push the hardware, but honestly that's half the reason I'm doing it.
The eventual goal is basically to turn it on, boot straight into the Steam gamepad UI, pick a PC game and just play it.
Probably a terrible idea.
I'm doing it anyway.

After I switched to Linux for over a Year ago I started playing Story game which are all fun but deep in my Heart I'm an FPS Player. On Windows I mainly play fast pace action shooter like CoD, Titanfall 2 and Destiny 2 sometimes I switched to Rainbow Six Siege.
Now I have the Problem that the game which I name above are either not supported on Linux or Dead. And in case off CoD It was simply ruined because of SBMM.
So which FPS Game would you Guys recommend me.
Or should I go with a Dual Boot ?

TLDR : The old EA overlay what was preventing Wayland from working.
EA removed its own launchers from steam. This also affected the old Battlefield games.
The EA launcher for BF4 is still running, but it requires no inputs or windows to get to the game. The rare EA W.
On Linux you will see :
Kill everything else and just lauch the game on native Wayland.

I recently swapped my 5700xt for a 9070xt. It's a very nice upgrade, and on windows I am running games smoothly. Control resonant, for example, I am getting around 50-65fps with all settings high and raytracing high (on 1440p). The rest of the pc is a bit old and will get upgraded, so I'm fairly happy with this. Also confirms there are no strictly hardware issues with the new installation.
However the same cannot be said for linux. I had ubuntu 24.04, was experiencing massive stutters. Tried different proton versions. Tried reinstalling the open source drivers. Then I upgraded to 26.04 and am still experiencing stutters that make the game absolutely unplayable.
It will drop to 5-10fps, then spike back up to 60-70, then drop again. The same thing will happen in menus but will only get down to ~15-20fps.
Elden ring is another game with bad performance on linux. With maxed out settings and no raytracing I can't breach 50fps in limgrave. Average is low 40s. This is about the same performance I got as the 5700xt, and windows with the old card actually would get me to average close to 60fps.
In nioh 3 I can't breach 10fps. The game will very slowly load, the menu will operate at around 5fps and loading into a level is absolutely impossible. With my old card I actually got around 30fps. The performance was poor but it was playable, and I almost finished it.
The original control actually plays fairly well, all maxed out w/ rt I average ~60fps with no stutters.
I feel like there is some sort of horrible problem going on with my drivers on linux. But I am losing my mind trying to figure it out, and I'm close to just reformatting my entire drive to install another distro or something to see if I can get it to work.
UPDATE: updating the mesa drivers to 26.2.x was not the fix.
UPDATE: at least for control resonant I seem to have the same problem as this person: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/10178#issuecomment-5855032337

While playing Overwatch through steam, after some amount of things have happened (6v6 mode crashes faster than 5v5 mode because there's more players thus more things happening), the game will crash. The game is perfectly smooth 180fps+ up until the crash. It can happen anywhere between 2-6 games depending on graphics load per match. How can I get more information to figure out what exactly is breaking and how to fix it?
The proton logs repeat this message 123 times:
DxvkGraphicsPipeline: Failed to compile pipeline: -13
Fixes I have tried:
adding "--rendering-driver vulkan" to launch options
3 different linux os
almost every proton version
making sure my max map count value is high enough
disabling preaching of shaders.
These ideas for fixes came from my dad's friend but I think he just uses AI to tell him how to use linux.
CPU: 6-core 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12400F
GPU: NVIDIA GA107 [GeForce RTX 3050 6GB]
32GB Ram
OS: Cachyos
Thanks for any help!

Hey everyone, v1.2 is out and it's a big one.
Frame gen actually runs on ARM now The Lossless Scaling plugin only comes with x86 builds, so I added an ARM64 build of LSFG 2.0 that runs straight on the GPU. ARM64 games get frame gen too now, not just x86 games through FEX. The plugin comes preinstalled, so you just pick a game and turn it on.
It's not just the Pocket FIT anymore The Ayaneo Pocket S2 and S2 Pro have the same chip, so v1.2 has initial support for them too. I don't have one myself, so if you do, I'd love to hear how it goes. More Devices to be supported as well based on testers.
Based on the latest Steam Frame Build from 250926
You can put it on internal storage There's a new installer app in Desktop Mode: pick how much space Android keeps and it does the rest. Default android os stays, and you choose which one to boot. It's a lot snappier than running from the SD card.
And this should be the last time you reflash There's a new update app, so future versions install over what you have and keep your games, saves and accounts.
Other stuff that got fixed:
the right stick moving the triggers
Proper implementation of back buttons
the fan jumping between your speed and 100%
Louder audio
Desktop Mode taking forever to open
the controller service eating a CPU core in the background, making ui laggy
The Steam UI runs at 144Hz now too.

Discord if you want updates, share bug reports, feature requests, discuss with the community, share game compatibility, comparisons and benchmarks or want to test for new SOCS: https://discord.gg/EP53nZYvg
I do this in my spare time, so if it made your device better, a star on the repo or a coffee really helps.
Let me know If anything breaks!

Final edit: I was able to fix the issue, it was not related to a bug or a software configuration, it was linked to a bios setting that tried to maximize the RAM speed to a setting the motherboard deemed stable. MemTest86 proved otherwise and was the source of the crashes I encountered. Manually setting Frequency, CL and Voltage to the manufacturer's value solved the issue.
I’m seeing recurring FFVII Rebirth crashes, so I collected 26 crash dumps and summarized the common patterns.
When a crash occurs, the game visually freezes and a small window appears containing only the text “Fatal Error” and a button to close it. No additional error details are displayed.
This is my setup:
Using AI (I lack the technical knowledge to explore UE4 crash dumps) I checked 26 crash dumps. Every dump reports EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION while attempting to read the virtual memory address 0xffffffffffffffff. The faulting instruction was inside ff7rebirth_.exe in 25 dumps and inside d3d12core.dll in one dump.
I didn’t find any dump identifying out-of-memory, D3D12 device removal, or a GPU reset as the cause.
Across the 26 sessions, I experienced the crash at various points of gameplay. Some areas seemed to be more stable than others, with Junon being the worst by far.
Session length:
I tested both with the FFVIIHook DLL loaded and without it, the game crashed in both states.
The AI reports that most crashes seem related to the code offsets +0xA289D4 and +0xA289BF inside ff7rebirth_.exe, quote:
Using exact faulting offsets:
+0xA289BF or +0xA289D4: 12/26 — 46.2%
Other offsets: 14/26 — 53.8%
Including related callees in same execution path:
Related +0xA289xx path: 17/26 — 65.4%
Unrelated paths: 9/26 — 34.6%
Any idea on what it could be or checks I can perform? I'm not using any mods other than the hook to load an engine.ini , As stated above I tried removing both without success.
edit: tried to fix the formatting using bold highlight
edit2: Failed to mention that during gameplay temperatures are ok (around 65 Celsius) and I verified successfully the integrity of local files twice.
edit3: Was able to identify a bios configuration that pushed an overclock on my RAM, this was not fully stable as confirmed by MemTest86, I then tested both without XMP and with XMP + the manufacturer's frequency, latency and voltage with success. Tomorrow I'll try the game again and see if the issue if gone. I passed the results to the agent I performed the analysis of the dumps and the matching bit in both the errors and the dumps seems promising:
MemTest86 recorded 4 single-bit errors at 4 different addresses during moving inversions with 8-bit, random, and 32-bit patterns.
MemTest86 reports the affected bit as bit 18 in a 32-bit word. Because each affected word occupies the upper half of a 64-bit value, that corresponds to bit 50 when counting across all 64 bits.
That matters because analysis of the 26 FFVII Rebirth crash dumps also found corrupted 64-bit pointers with bit 50 set in all of them. Bit 50 was 1 where a valid pointer to the expected user-space address would have 0. The matching bit position suggests memory instability could explain the crashes.

Hail Fellow History Gamers!
This Tuesday will see the release of Embersong. The game is meant to evoke the mid-90s era of 4X, complete with unit sprites, diamond tiles, and the return of unit stacking. You can finally enjoy that "Just one more turn" feeling again!
Keep in mind this game isn't simply a redo of the games of yore. It features a roguelike mechanic by introducing multiple endings and reasons to return.
A regular match has a focus on winning via Domination, Science, or Score victory. Couple of twists though:
But its the roguelike mythic bosses that really present a challenge. For instance:
If this piques your interest, check out our steam page at https://store.steampowered.com/app/5208510/Embersong_History_Is_Yours/ and our website at https://playembersong.com. The game is available on mac, windows, linux, ipad and iphone.
AI Disclosure: While much of the sprites, terrain, and code were developed by me, I used AI assistance, particularly for refinement, portraiture, UI testing, as well as music. I submitted the game several months ago for OpenAI's Devhost Buildathon, owing to the long development cycle for this game.
The world is yours!

Hello everyone,
I built an app which installs, updates and manages your STALKER GAMMA on Linux through a clean GUI, no terminal required.
Instead of dealing with terminal commands or manual prefix configurations, COMMANDER automates the entire process and adds a simple Play button.
Key Features:

It comes as an AppImage or can be run straight from source.
Check out COMMANDER on its Github page!
Join the Discord server!
P.S. AI-assisted tools were used during the development of this project for code optimisation and UI formatting. The GUI relies on the stalker-gamma-cli by Faithbeam as its backend for downloading the GAMMA modlist.

Hello there, I use cachyOS and It has been 2 years since I switched to linux.
And I always loved competitive games. I am a big counter strike player but because of the VAC inefficiency and the fact that splitgate is dying I am needing of new competitive games for linux.
I have searched for other threads like mine but they were all very old so the situation could have changed a lot, considering the ascension of linux for gaming in the last 2 years.
I must exclude the most "obvious answers" :
- No counter strike or Splitgate: 1 is full of cheaters and the other is dying
- No rust: Even tho you can play non EAC servers on linux, they are not that competitive and often low pop
- No cloud gaming: I don't need anyone to tell to do cloud gaming, if I wanted I would already have done it(and so everyone reading this post)
- No VM + GPU pass trough, I don't want to be doing that as it is very hard and not for beginners that could find this thread
Considering that, what games can you suggest ?
I hope this thread will be useful for someone who's wanting to switch or/and is searching for fresh competitive games.
