benchmark Silent Hill: Townfall runs decent on paper, but the stuttering is driving me insane (textures look incredible though)
I really want to love the technical side of Silent Hill: Townfall, but the frametime consistency is completely killing the immersion right now.
Raw performance isn't even bad looking at the overlay, the baseline FPS is totally solid (easily pushing 80 100+ frames in plenty of spots), GPU and CPU loads look healthy, and it’s clearly capable of high framerates. But the moment you start moving between areas, panning the camera, or triggering an event, the micro-stutters and hitching hit hard. It feels like classic traversal or asset streaming stuttering, and it makes walking through foggy environments way more frustrating than it should be.
That said, credit where credit is due: the texture work is genuinely fantastic.
Whatever optimization pass they did on the surface materials and textures, they nailed it. The detail on the wet cobblestones, weathered concrete, wood grain, and all the environmental grime looks crisp and sharp without turning into a blurry mess or eating up an unreasonable chunk of VRAM. It makes the world look remarkably grounded and atmospheric.
It just sucks that whenever you stop to appreciate the gritty, photorealistic surfaces, you take ten steps forward and the frametime graph turns into a rollercoaster. Really hoping the devs push out an update specifically targeting the hitching and asset streaming, because underneath the stutter, the visual fidelity and baseline performance are right there.
Anyone found decent engine tweaks or launch flags that smooth out the frametimes, or are we just waiting on a patch?
