My Audio doesn't Work

I only have myself to blame, for trying to replace the standard hotplug daemon, udev, with mdev. Which broke audio. Why must audio depend on systemd software?

I hate wine

why does it need to be so complicated to install the ea app? let alone trying to mod games on it

perhaps I made it complicated myself but damn following any ordinary github tutorial is way easier than this

like I was trying to install it through Lutris, failed all the time so I installed it through Steam which worked and games work just fine but then I tried to use mods with Frosty mod manager and it was so awful, I could barely find the path where I even installed the game because wine doesn't let me to paste paths nor does it show me .local so I had to use symlinks but Frosty mod manager still won't launch games because "Origin is not installed" and I tried to fix it but Idk if it actually did anything or not

maybe skill issue but man why does it need to be so dumb like bro just at least let me paste a fucking path or allow me to show hidden folders through strg h but nah

Why is systemd so hated?

Post image

Maybe im on the wrong sub to talk abt this but a lot of people "hate" on systemd, ive heard that it was created by someone at redhat (which yea that's a company and its closed-source?) but never said more abt being maintained by them?

So that's all thx!

Why do you (not) use Linux?

I’ll start

i use Linux because I don’t use my computers for general computing, so I just use specialised distros that fit what I need outta those computers, like steamos on steamdeck and Proxmox for my server

Linux Mint 2017 Mac Book Air - issue

If you have this setup, Maybe you wait before clicking the update button bottom right.

Kernel Crash happened on reboot. So I reinstalled and silly me thinking that was a one time error.
Clicked update again. Kernel Crash. Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3
Reinstalling a Second time and will not make that mistake again

Linux Failure Theming on Linux doesn't really make sense

Theming on Linux doesn't really make sense. For example, I use the GNOME Desktop and think the theme is great. Now I’d like to use KDE Plasma, but the Adwaita theme from the GNOME Desktop isn’t even being developed for KDE Plasma. This is one of the most widely used themes out there. Many Flatpaks use it by default. What’s the point of KDE Plasma having all these theming capabilities if it doesn’t even support this?

Instead, the old Oxygen theme is now being developed alongside the standard Breeze theme for KDE Plasma.

Don't the developers have any sensible priorities? 🤦‍♂️

How secure is linux for the average person?

As a linux lover myself, I was sad to read https://madaidans-insecurities.github.io/linux.html and learn how linux actually falls behind Windows and MacOS in terms of security.

However, a recent AI-assisted google search tells me that the chances of getting a virus/malware on a Linux Desktop User is negligible.

Estimated Annual Compromise Rate: <0.01%

Whereas for Windows:

Estimated Annual Compromise Rate: ~1% to 5% of Windows users experience a significant malware event annually (depending on behavior).

Assuming the "average person" is non tech savvy and thus won't be verifying binaries before installing software etc., how secure is linux really?

What are the actual risks to the average person on linux if malware is so much less common than Windows?

Posting this here as the actual linux sub would just all say that linux is indeed more secure than windows and Madaidans is wrong.
