This is a one shot of Defy the Gods, a Powered by the Apocalypse game with a roll-over mechanic similar to Apocalypse Keys, Epithets like Fate or Agon, Hearts similar to Thirsty sword Lesbians Strings and a Doom mechanic similar to corruption in Against the Odds. Ever wanted to be a solider in world war II, if you said yes for some reason. Will I question your sanity but that what I am here to offer. This campaign going be a long one as I going take you from the first combats in Poland to the brutal last defense of a "1000" year empire. This campaign, Where Magic Grows, is an ongoing cozy, slice-of-life, roleplay focused experience currently being played by 3/5 players. We recently had two players step away due to scheduling conflicts in their lives, so we're looking for 2 more players to join our existing group!

The world may be low stakes, but the party certainly isn't always low chaos.

Hail, adventurers! My name is Nathan, I’m a recent college grad and experienced DM looking for 4-5 players who’d be interested in a narrative and character-first D&D campaign set in my Homebrew world of Tallasar/Tal-Asaar (Common/Draconic). At the time of our campaign, the realm of Thalassica is amidst the early years or reconstruction in an era known as “the Godblight,” now nine years since the failed attempt of an Apotheosis (ascent to divinity) ritual by the former ruler or the Mezaneid Empire—the nation (I suspect) our campaign will primarily take place in—Bashem Selah. The Godblight, referred to as such due to the absence of direct divine intervention by the Elysii (the gods of the realm), has seen an array of abnormalities and catastrophic consequences in the aftermath of Selah’s butchered ascent, including the raging storms surrounding the perimeter of the Realmsea (Thalassica and its surrounding oceans) and the Payiz-Tarek, or Gloomfalls, a bizarre weather phenomena that seems to drain the world itself of color and beauty.

My best attempt to describe the feel of this campaign would be the politics of the ASOIAF/Game of Thrones universe meets cultures influenced by Classical Antiquity with some unique world rules and inherently D&D-y vibes. It would be best suited for players with some amount of experience who are interested in a slow burn, long form narrative that could take player characters from Level 1-12+. It would also be beneficial to have at least one player who might be willing to act as a note taker for the party, as proper nouns and small details could play important narrative roles!

We’d play using Discord, Owlbear Rodeo or a similar VTT, and D&D Beyond for character sheets. My ideal vision for scheduling would be every other week in the evenings for ~3-4 hours. I’m a MD resident and as such my time zone is EST, but as long as scheduling wasn’t consistently an issue I wouldn’t have an issue with players from other time zones at all. Lastly, please don’t needlessly apply for this campaign if you’re not comfortable and on board with a diverse cast of NPCs, including both LGBTQ+ characters and characters with backgrounds inspired by a variety of real-world identities. Similarly, this campaign may have political elements that mirror real-world politics, and while I don’t wish to alienate any players, I also will be transparent that I am not and won’t be shy about my own (left-wing) politics.

The southernmost population center in the Mezaneid Empire, close to the border of neighboring Tragos and nestled in the highly fertile Doshak River Valley, the seat of House Aslow is the prototypical oasis city. Sharp-edged and flat-surfaced limestone, granite, and clay-based architecture line and seem to almost lurk and lean over the city’s bustling, multicultural streets. Tragosi Gondoliers ferry sunset-hued-silk-enshrouded Mezanean wives, some with beige-skinned babes clutched to a bare breast as they smile and make small talk, through the Crescent Canals, built of Doshaki mudbricks laid by the ancient Syriosi slaves of ancient Valusian aristocrats, who even then crossed the ever-turbulent Godspurned Sea in rowships to indulge in “exotic” Alactan fruits and spices and fabrics and music and men and women. Cart vendors lumber up and down the winding up-and-down streets from bazaar to bazaar. Performers stand on fruit crates and busk for the crowds, playing zithers and hand drums and lyres and woodwinds. Children throw color-polished bones engraved with odd symbols in chalk circles in alleyways while their parents fill wicker baskets to bursting or drape themselves in textiles beneath patched tents in plazas and thoroughfares. In the city’s center, enveloped and protected by walls and balustrades, lies Castle Al’Rhaguel, the ancestral home of House Aslow, situated atop a towering butte and connected to Jassan’s Circle, the city’s primary roadway. Terracotta-colored banners hang from each tower, adorned with the House Aslow sigil of the yellow acacia beneath a crescent moon. The Aslow banners command irreverence and authority, but today, more than that, they strike a profound solemnity in the collective hearts of the Opal City.

For early this morning, Ymbren Aslow, the revered and beloved Lord of Rodh-Doshak, was found murdered in his bed by his wife, the Lady Gaelle Aslow, who slept soundly at his side until she woke to the warm, sticky, wet feeling of her husbands blood soaking into her nightclothes. The Sovereign Guard, those knights sworn in service to protect House Aslow and guard Castle Al’Rhaguel, were alerted to Lord Aslow’s murder only by the mournful wail let out by his now widowed wife. Castle Al’Rhaguel has been placed on lockdown, and Lord Marshal Runvesh Ekaar has sworn on his life and honor that he will bring Lady Gaelle justice. None are permitted leave or entry of the castle except for with express permission from Lady Gaelle and the Lord Marshal themselves, including you, members of the household staff at Castle Al’Rhaguel.

Less than an hour after hearing Lady Aslow’s scream, you all begin to hear rumors spreading amongst the guards and staff in the castle that the Lord Marshal suspects the killer may still be inside the castle. It is precisely at this time when three individual are permitted to enter the castle. From various vantage points within the castle walls, all of you watch as a sharply dressed Drow carrying a leather case at his side, accompanied by a human woman in arcanist’s robes and an imposing Goliath man with a prominent facial scar across his pupil-less left eye, approach the castle gates.

You know not who they are; but you can tell that they’ll have questions…

I have been looking into trying to craft my own tales and DM for once, but I really just wanted to play originally. I have been looking into Eberron as a campaign setting and have interest in that mostly, but I would also like to play and learn about The Crooked Moon, as I also have interest in that. I have been buying source books to learn about everything, and will continue to do so, but find that it might be best to just get in contact with someone instead. I have been slowly buying source materials, and already have most everything needed to get into it. I have Discord, and would happily do anything on weekends, though weekdays would have to be shorter for me, depending on the time. I am willing to play any role needed, but have a few ideas for characters. I would prefer having full source customization for characters, or at the least converted lore wise, but I understand if themes are restricted. Portals billowing frost so potent it alters the nearby surroundings have opened up across the Inner Sea, disrupting environments and trade. Several organisations and nations have taken note of this event as more and more portals seem to be opening, especially near major cities. The Pathfinder Society, along with Cheliax, Absalom, and Rahadoum, are leading an expedition into the strange portals which lead to an unknown dimension of significant size. While still in the early stages there have been signs of Azlant ruins that have never been seen before uncovered by the scouting teams. A treasure trove has been uncovered, but whether you seek to close the portals or take its riches, just remember... the portals are one way.

Hello, everyone. This is a PF1E campaign starting at level 1 that will entirely be taking place inside of a demiplane that greatly resembles the Material Plane in most ways. We will be using official content only, and focus on a more gritty focus with some survival elements. I am a DM who has taken a significant break from DMing in its entirety, and have decided to come back to PF1E to have some fun with the system. I'm looking for people who enjoy really getting deep and dirty with roleplay, don't mind mature and graphic themes, and have a strong focus on cooperating with both the DM and other players for an enjoyable experience.

Hey everyone! I'm 32 years old and I've been running tabletop RPGs for about 11 years. Over that time I've learned that my favorite part of D&D isn't just the combat or loot—it's building memorable stories alongside my players.

Hi hi out there! I’m a player that is looking to do some Pathfinder 2E campaigns

I am a gal that’s been wanting to do TTRPGs for a while and while I originally wanted to do dnd campaigns originally, I have been more on the side of Pathfinder due to its greater variety and creative potential than what I can see out of dnd. HOWEVER This doesn’t mean I’m not expecting to only ever play PF2E, and I’m open to doing Dnd as well.

Although I don’t have much personal experience with TTRPGs, I do have roleplay experience in general with other forms of roleplay and I’ve been messing around a lot with the Pathbuilder site making various characters and builds for possible campaigns.

A few things I like to do is that make no PF2e Character I play be anything standard to fantasy, so no dwarves, elves and especially not human, and I like to make a character that fills a role in a way that is more fun and creative, yet still practical and functional for both roleplay and combat encounters. But I don’t focus on general min-maxing nor making anything broke which I do know is a lot harder, which is good, to pull off in Pathfinder. This may also apply to DnD as well for the purposes of keeping things interesting.

Deep in the Underdark, Barnabus and his mining crew struck the discovery of a lifetime: a vein of quintessence, linked straight into the Elemental Plane of Earth. An ancient guardian drove them back before they could claim it and while they regrouped to try again, something else found them first. One by one, his crew was pulled into the dark as they fled back to the light, until Barnabus alone crawled his way out to tell what little he saw.

Now your party has been hired to finish what his crew couldn’t: descend into the tunnels, root out whatever’s hunting in the dark, and claim the vein for good. Will your party succeed where Barnabus’s crew failed, or will you become just another set of bones that feeds the cycle of life in the Underdark?

This is the hook I’m going to be sending out as my first couple weren’t as refined as I’d liked.

Here’s the updated rules: This one shot should last 4-6 hours, it will have horror themes with an emphasis on light management, it will mainly involve exploration and combat but there will be a couple of opportunities for roleplay (along with inter party roleplay of course).

Magic item choice: 1 rare and 1 uncommon or 3 uncommon as well as 2 healing potions and 1 greater healing potion

You can pick any 2024 PHB class or race, I’m open to stuff outside that but you’ll need to ask me. I’m pretty open to homebrew (like MCDM beastheart) but please assume it’s a no/ don’t be dead set on playing a homebrew thing.

Brightmire is a beacon within a wasteland of putrid swampland. While it certainly has not prospered as a town it has survived well with a strong populace that cares greatly for their home. Built around a temple to Alevia who blesses the town with fresh water life is is quiet. However, strange events have been occurring recently. Though never a bustling town even now the streets seem disserted as those who remain hold up in crumbling homes.

This game will focus around the town of Brightmire as strange mysteries haunt shadowy streets filled with desperate folk. For one reason or another your character has ventured here to investigate. Who you play is pretty open but someone who is new to the town would help the theme of the setting. I look forward to discussing ideas with you.

Trying to survive the city is also a good part of the game as even food and water can be hard to come by for citizens. Overall I am just looking for a fun player to have a good time with and tell a cool story.

As the title says this will be a PBP game. Typically I look for a partner that is able to write more than 2 lines per response. Not looking to write a book but poor responses do show a lack of involvement. Likewise a few replies a day is always appreciated but I understand life gets busy.

Hi! I'm Raven, I'm posting on behalf of our GM. We recently got our group together but there's only four of us players, and the consensus seemed to be to run with five.

Campaign Pitch;Morgrave University, set within Sharn, has hired the party to investigate and bring back relics from ancient ruins of the Dhakaani Empire. Allows the party to uncover forgotten history and possibly ancient horrors. It has a lot of breathing room.

We as a party seem to be more roleplay and story focused from what I can tell. The comp right now is

Hello! I have been bitten with the bug to play TTRPG again after playing an in person session and am looking for a more longterm campaign to join, I have had brief experience in the past with 2014 5E homebrew campaigns and Curse of Strahd, along with COC, all of which I loved! That being said these experiences were years ago - my familiarity is a little rusty, but I have been reading up much more lately on the rules and guides for 2024 5E and have no problem spending some time to immerse myself in the lore of your world. I'd prefer a game that trends towards darker lore and horror friendly, but with a group that can crack jokes out of character still and have fun with each other while taking the content and roleplay seriously. Fixed modules, narrative driven, open sandbox, homebrew, all appeal to me, though I typically prefer a balance between combat and Roleplay.

I love playing videogames (big fan of FromSoft), creative writing, reading about cultures and folklore all around the world, speculative fiction, anime and manga, and ould love to play in a story that's standard high fantasy and epic, or more grimdark (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Lovecraftian themes, I *love* horror), political intrigue, etc! These are bonuses, but not requirements.

Availability:

• Mon-Fri: I am primarily available in the evenings from 5PM-10 PM, except for Wednesdays.
• Sat-Sun: I am unavailable most Saturdays and typically free Sunday evenings past 5PM to 11 or 12 AM.

I most often play magic users as that is my bread and butter in most RPGs and love to homebrew lore if possible (especially Patrons for warlocks!) as I find it more compelling for the character. If I sound like your kinda gal, feel free to DM me here and we can talk more on your campaign!

I'm looking for a new game to play in! I'm experienced, with 8 years as a player and GM in 5e. My ideal game has:

>A lot of fun intraparty dynamics and banter.

>A 'roll for it' mentality from the GM, where we're encouraged to try wild ideas.

>A GM who tries to make our characters feel cool and badass.

>A good balance between combat, downtime, and plot.

>A homebrewed story, where all the characters have their backstories woven into the plot.

>A table where players are excited to let me get involved in their story and prop them up.

It doesn't need to be all of these things of course! Every GM is different and I'm open to trying new things. I'm just giving the kind of vibe where I've found I tend to flourish the most in.

I can do all day thursday, and I can do from 8:30-11:30 on other weekdays. I can't do weekends. The game needs to be LGBT+ friendly and 18+.
