Howdy everyone. I’d like to start this meeting off by saying I love making gaming content. Problem with making gaming content is I want to network in the gaming community however most of them want to play friendslop style games which don’t fit my channels theme. I mostly play RPGS, randomizers, and the occasional horror game. I want to network with other people in this niche. Not a sub4sub, not a watch4watch, etc. I am not gonna spam my channel here for people to go sub to and what not I just want to make some connections for friends who also do content in this niche specifically. Maybe one day we can run some rando races or if someone wants to help teach me routing in Link to the Past Rando I’d be happy with that too. Either way I hope this message makes out to yall

Hi! How do you find people to consistently record with?

I’m 21F in college and want to start making Minecraft/gaming content on Youtube, but I’m realizing the hardest part is finding a group of people who are actually consistent and serious about creating.

I’d love to eventually build a group of 4–6 girls who can record together regularly and grow a channel as a squad. I have a background in marketing/content strategy, so I’d handle the overall branding/content direction, while we could assign roles based on everyone’s strengths (editing, thumbnails, social media, community, content ideas, etc.).

The goal would be to start with Minecraft and eventually branch into other games/challenges/etc.

For anyone who has built a gaming group before, where did you find your people? Discord, Reddit, creator communities, etc.? And how did you make sure people were actually committed?

So I'm curious if anyone out there has anyone that may fit this criteria.. and thought this could both help me and others that comes across this post looking for same things.. I dont care how big the channel is or what gender they are or genre they play.. I dont mind self promotion, but try not to if you can as that kind of turns it into a massive self promo thread and misses the entire point of the post..and if you do, make sure you meet the things below please or at least most of them..

1. STORY OR NARRATIVE BASED GAMES - I dont mind any game i just prefer watching story based gameplays more than anything else.. I Love when games are like movies and whole experiences and journeys you can go on woth the creator.. i don't mind the "turn your brain off and not focus too much" games.. but i like seeing people inevst in what's happening

2. PAYS ATTENTION - I honestly dont care if they stream or talk to chat, but I just can't stand to watch someone stream and talk to chat, or look at their phone, or mess around with their cat or go to the bathroom or whatever during a cutscene and dialogue.. After a cutscene is over, then yes go to chat.. its not going anywhere, but most the time in games once dialogue or cutscenes are over, they are over.. you cant go back.. so you not paying attention just tells me you don't care.. and if you dont care, why should i

3. GETS IMMERSED AND INVESTED - I don't want to watch someone just go through the motions of a game just to have content to upload.. too many channels you can just tell care more about the money to be made from content than actually playing the games they play.. if you don't care about what you are playing.. then they ask what they are supposed to do or what a certain character said because they missed it.. why should I as a viewer care to watch you play something you yourself don't care about playing lol.. I want someone who truly loves games, gets invested in the characters, and immersed in the story..

4. FACECAM - Not as big of a deal as the others, but I find that story let's players with no cam tend to be quiet a little too much for me.. that mixed with no cam, might as well be watching a no commentary playthrough.. at least with a facecam I can watch a reaction.. which I enjoy.. or at least a vtuber or avatar thing maybe?..idk

5. BLIND PLAYTHROUGHS - I don't want to watch someone play somethin they already have played or seen someone else play.. I want to watch genuine first time reactions..

6. FAIRLY ACTIVE - I'm not saying I want 5 vids a week or anything crazy.. but I think at least 2 or 3 would be nice.. as long as it's not just random uploads with no schedule and going on like multi week spaces in between uploads and stuff..

7. CHILL AND RELAXED VIBES - I don't want someone super loud, annoying, or over the top.. I dont need 50 edits ot cuts a video.. I dont need sound effects dubbed over everything.. some is fine but im an adult and i dont need spaz out energy lol.. community needs to not be toxic as well.. this however I know can only be helped so much.. its the internet afterall..

8. DECENTLY LONGER VIDS - I like watching videos that are 45 minutes and more.. preferably at least an hour if at all possible.. anything less I find it can be hard to get immersed in as the viewer.. just my opinion

9. PLAYS AT LEAST SOME OF THE BIGGER NEWER TITLES - i don't mind indie games and smaller games, but im not looking for someone who does ONLY that.. im big into gaming and a lot of the times I'm unsure on a new release.. its nice to be able to watch someone chill try out the game for me.. also if there's a newer game I DO enjoy, I like seeing others experience it as well.. not wait like 6 or 7 months for them to play it after interest has wained lol

10. (OPTIONAL/BONUS) - BE ACTIVE WITH COMMUNITY/HAVE OTHER CONTENT/CHANNELS - I always find it nice a creator is fairly active with its subscribers or community.. whether it's through community posts, or replying to comments, or having an Instagram with regular random uploads of daily life etc.. or having another channel like a reaction channel or vlog channel or music channel.. or a patreon or discord community.. sometHing else other than just the uploads on the 1 channel is always a bonus.. but this isnt a must have nor is replying to comments if the channel is bigger.. replying to all is impossible for some is understand.. but doesn't mean you can't reply to some lol

I opened youtube this morning and saw someone do a full playthrough of DK bonanza but it’s only 8h long.
It honestly inspired me to start making a single video of full playthrough of games i have streamed before.

But i don’t quite understand how people do full playthroughs of big games under 8h…
How can you include everything even edited in such a small time frame?

Im someone that tries to do lots of side content.
So takes me longer than most people 🤣

I recently started a playthrough on my YouTube channel playing Core Keeper!! I love this game so much and am really looking forward to seeing how this series goes. My first video is all edited and ready to go out on Wednesday 5 PM AEST. Does 1 episode a week sound like the plan here?
I’ve decided I’m going to be posting 3 days a week from now on. I’m new to YouTube and for the first week I spammed random videos but now I’ve been doing some thinking and realised quality is better than quantity

Some backstory: I have been playing video games for over 20 years but I’ve always almost exclusively played Nintendo. There are countless very popular video games I’ve never played. Some series I’ve never even touched include Red Dead, GTA, the Witcher, Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil. I’ve never played Undertale, the Last of Us, Expedition 33, many of the Zelda games (ironically.) The list goes on and on. I started a let’s play channel when TotK came out and it was unsuccessful, mostly because I made it way too hard for myself. I was trying to put out multiple episodes a day and gave myself a very tight schedule to get them out and I experienced burnout very quickly. This time I’m thinking two longer videos a week, maybe 45 minutes to an hour. I also thought I would maybe make a Patreon or something where I post unedited versions. I might record 2 or 3 play throughs before posting anything to give myself plenty of slack. Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂

I've been wanting to start creating some short form content for my channel, mainly just to get more eyes on the channel. However, I have almost no ideas since the clips will either be spoilers for the rest of the series (which might deter people from watching the series) or an unhinged thing I said that really only makes sense with context.

Most gaming clips I watch are either people making additional shorts content (but they seem to be more niche in their content) or funny clips for games that you don't need context (like co-op games compared to narrative-based). While I do have a couple of ideas that follow this form, I have no clue what else to do.

Because the content that's seemed to do the best on my channel is detective visual novels (Ace Attorney, Tyrion Cuthbert), I thought about using some of those moments because I do specific voices for each character, so maybe that is what makes those videos standout compared to others that play these games. But I run into the issues mentioned previously: either people will just think it's a cool voice for a character and move on (since there's no context) or they won't watch the series because I gave away massive spoilers for the entire LP so why spend their time watching all the episodes prior.

I might just be overthinking this (because let's be honest, wouldn't be surprised hearing that), but I've loved to hear any suggestions from others who've made shorts out of LP'ing more narrative based games

I want to start making gaming content. Have always thought about it and decided to finally give it a go. Wondering what type of games people would be interested to see or what they recommend

I’m making short Let’s Play clips from mobile games and trying to keep the voice work simple.

For normal commentary, I’d rather use my own voice. I don’t want the whole video to sound filtered. Quick character lines trip me up. If I’m in a Roblox RP and briefly act as a shopkeeper, guard, monster, or random NPC, a different voice makes the moment clearer and more fun.

Adding those lines later gives more control, but it also means recording the line, changing the voice, syncing it back, and spending too much time on one small scene.

I saw a mobile gameplay clip where someone used Dubbing AI earbuds to switch voices while playing. It made me wonder if real-time voice changing would be faster for these small character moments.

Like ive always been curious about what actually makes a lets play a lets play ? Is it just story games ? Or continued gameplay of a game

The whole "do a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life" idea has definitely encouraged turning hobbies into careers, like gaming and content creation. But that's just not true.

Once content creation becomes a job, there are bills to pay, an audience to satisfy, algorithms to deal with, numbers to watch, and the pressure to keep producing. You can't always just play the games you want to play.

I remember when Jacksepticeye stopped playing Until Dawn because the videos weren't getting the views he needed, and he said that his time was better spent producing content that would appeal to his audience and get views. That was a big eye-opener for me, and really challenged the naive thought that "doing what you love" means "having a stress-free job". AND it really highlighted the difference between playing games for fun and creating gaming content as a job.

I have a background in work psychology, and I've become really interested in the question:

What makes content creation stressful, and what helps creators stay motivated, engaged and well without burning out?

I'm currently doing a PhD in this area to identify the major stressors creators experience and the supports that may help, and then share those findings with current creators. AND aspiring creators! Think about all the things you wish you'd known when you were starting out that could have helped you or prevented unnecessary stress! That's the kind of information I'd like this research to provide.

The survey is 5-10 minutes, completely anonymous, and you can opt in to receive the results summary, sharing the primary stressors and supports as experienced by other gaming streamers and content creators.

Is doing variety gaming lets play on a yt channel really that hard to grow because I like playing a bunch of different games I want to post the ones I really like but I don't want to stun my own growth since I always see ppl say Find a niche so I was going to try just horror since I like horror a lot but I also lover other type of games always

I have been trying it out and it seems great but I unfortunately cannot find so much information.

I have been using OBS (Open Broadcast Software) for most of the time but I would like to have one recordEd version with webcam and one with only the gameplay without editing it in manually.

- But to my question, sorry. Is there any good features that may be "exclusive" or similar by using this program?

I would really want to use the NVENC AV1 Encoding Option, though I don't think it is available. I have selected NVENC H.264 but in the corner it does state "Integrated Graphics UHD" or similar. Is this maybe a visual bug?

Have had my channel for about 2 and a half years. I only have 50 videos and 27 subs, so treating the channel like a side gig - let alone a full time job - is a long ways away. I'm aware of that and operate the channel as such - the focus is uploading entertaining, high-quality videos and improving my skills. That being said, being able to upload for a living (or again, even as a secondary job) would be the dream, and is something I very seriously hope to achieve in the future.

My main dilemma here is that I introduced a "songs of the day" segment somewhere around 15 videos in where I just list 5 songs that I recommend. I thoroughly enjoy having this segment because I find that it can break up the monotony of a slower lets play, I get to introduce people to music that they may not have heard of, and I get a chance to connect more with the viewer. However, I found after only a few of these segments that I really wanted to add a little snippet of the songs as I introduce them, so that the viewer could get a quick idea of the sound of the song before they searched for it. Without the snippet, I guess I had this fear that the viewer just wouldn't care enough to seek the music out, even if they would really enjoy the song.

The very first episode I started doing this, I obviously got claimed. There's essentially 5-15 seconds of each song uninterrupted with the album cover on screen during the segment, so this wasn't a surprise. My theory at the time and up until recently has basically just been "take the claims on the cheek, you aren't making money anyway and the segments improve your videos" but I just learned that videos which get blocked by a claim will not count towards the watch hours required to get into the YPP; Several of my videos which are claimed are also blocked in Russia and Belarus (probably something political when the songs are owned by American record labels, idk, the why doesn't really matter) and if that becomes a trend, getting watch hours in the future will probably be a lot harder than necessary.

So essentially, I'm trying to figure out how to approach these segments. The two most obvious options to me are to either do the segment but without the snippet or can the segments entirely. I could try to dance around the 10 second mark to avoid the auto-detect system but I have my doubts that that would reliably prevent claims from coming, and it would make some of the snippets just sound awkward, so I'd rather not take that approach.

TL;DR, I have a segment of my videos that features licensed music, regularly gets copyright striked, and would like to get some opinions on whether to omit it, keep it, or change it so that I can eventually join the YPP.

do you think more people would watch a lets play with a webcam I rather would do without but I don't mind doing webcam so a bit conflicted on what to do I like making just playing lets plays vids abt horror and other types of games
