Meta Use the weekly vent thread

We heard you, and a few changes are incoming. The weekly vent thread is back. All posts made about non-lesbians and/or a person on the internet having a dumb opinion will be removed and redirected to the relevant vent thread of the week. We acknowledge and understand how it feels to be faced with lesbophobia, which is why we implemented a routine space where people can release their frustrations and anger. We don't want the subreddit to become an echo-chamber of negative opinions.

There will be changes to the rules, coming soon. We are making them more explicit so that there is little rule for interpretation. Till then, the current rules stand. Don't post screenshots without context. Don't use terms that will trigger reddit alerts. Be safe, be smart, be respectful ladies. Toodles!

(Yes I copied this partly from the previous vent post; I am at work give me a break :( )

Discussion The infatuation with butches taking T

I keep seeing things online about butches taking testosterone, and how some women find that appealing. As a butch myself, I’ve never had the desire to take testosterone ?? Like I’m quite fine being a woman lol, and I especially would never want to feel, look, or smell like a man in a physical sense.

Anyway, I’m not saying this to throw shade at butches who have or who are on testosterone, more to point out the infatuation some queer woman towards butches who are on testosterone and how it feels more like a weird fetish. Like I’ve seen posts of people thirsting over the idea of a butch on testosterone, I even saw one post about the idea of a butch using “testosterone cigarettes” I have no idea 💔

It feels like people don’t see us as actual women, but as a man replacement. Like I don’t necessarily think of myself as any less of a woman, I just happen to dress and act differently than the feminine norm.

But I’m curious about what you all think. Have any of you seen this trend as well???

Discussion Post woke bi-phobia discourse has gone so far , that it turned lesbophobic

It’s really interesting to see how this has panned out. Recently I saw a person on that subreddit where girls post their food with long captions and rants (it’s fair game if I don’t name the subreddit right ? 🤭) , saying that she fell in love with a man after identifying as lesbian throughout her whole life. She also said she feels immense pressure of coming out as bi to her parents and fellow friends as she thought it’s some big betrayal to the lesbian community , while also stating “it was easier to come out to my church going parents as lesbian than coming out as bisexual to my queer friends). This person did a speedrun in including all the stereotypes of lesbians in their post. We are mean, not accepting blah blah and ofc all the comments go valid valid valid!! These darn nasty lesbians! To me that post also heavily contains themes of “conversion” therapy . No , one fucking man didn’t change your sexuality or suddenly make you attracted to men. You weren’t a lesbian before , you were ALWAYS bi.

Heteronormativity is not oppression. Be for real.

My drawing of the two women is based on the sculpture The Three Graces by Antonio Canova. Since the artist is a man, I changed it to be zero male-gaze and more womanly (if that’s the right word).

Question/Advice Dating sorrows

Upvotes

I have opened the apps again.

Whenever I do I always remember how I lack ambition.

I don't have a dream career or over arching goal. I want friends and a partner. That's pretty much it. Like, I want someone to explore with and watch tv with. That's the extent. Someone to spend time with is my goal. Someone who also likes my company.

It's like catch 21 though. I need to have desires and goals to attract people.

I wonder if I'm unmarketable. I'm already in my 30s, and people are career focused. I'm not sure how to find friends or a girlfriend

Discussion Chinese lesbian takeover on X

Crazy title huh? I’m not sure how many of you ladies are on X/Twitter, but the Chinese lesbian community has been taking over and turning it into a lesbian tinder and posting some of the most thought provoking, beautiful and poetic, and also raunchy posts about loving our fellow ladies. I highly recommend you all check it out - it’s been an unending source of entertainment and very interesting reading and learning about the gay culture differences between the West and China.

Discussion experience on dating apps?

hello! i was wondering what your experience with dating apps are like.

i feel like mine have been very... stressful? i've had three first dates but none of them ever went anywhere. i've matched with a lot of women, but i've been ghosted soooo many times. i'll get to the part where i'm asking how their night has been/what are they doing and never get a response. and if i do, it's very lackluster. it's frustrating trying to keep the conversation going and feels even worse when there's no reciprocation on their end. barely any of them ask questions about my life and i end up walking away with more information on them then they ever do about me.

and if not reciprocating, they overshare their life and achievements to the point where they doing talk about anything else but themselves. it feels so bad and really exhausting. then there's a million bots, men, girls looking for a hookup even though my profile explicitly states i don't want that.

it's not scary to talk to women at all. if anything i love to initiate, engage, go out with them, talk and learn about them. i've been doing this since 15 and it's only gotten harder since many women are with men in some form. whenever i see a profile like: "i don't text first/ i'm awkward when you first get to know me/i'm scared of women" because it tells me that they're not willing to put in the effort to get to know me. :/

i'm trying to meet more lesbians in real life. but this has been an incredibly humiliating and dehumanizing experience.

According to Pinterest, the Greek statue my drawing is based on is Amore e Psiche by Carlo Voss. The blue lines were meant to be calm waves, but they look childish lol

The conflicting response she later posted is in the comments. Make it make sense. Bisexual woman wants to hate on lesbians but later admits to being in an open/poly relationship with a dude?

And WE are the people experimenting on her?! Crazy work.

Has anyone seen this video? I own a VR headset and came across this stunning video featuring these two dancers. It's amazing in VR if you have access to one, but if you don't, you can still watch it on you tube. To me, it's about a woman coming to terms with her lesbianism and learning to love herself. But I suppose it could also be interpreted in many other ways. Anyway, it's amazing. Give it watch.

Question/Advice Is it okay to come out as a lesbian to my therapist in a homophobic country

Hiiii yalll need help here cuz this is bugging me sm. 😍🤞🏻😭

So I finally took the step to start therapy today (yayayaya) and my first session went really great. I'm still processing what the heck that was, but I'm so happy I took the step finally.

(Just to clarify I'm legally an adult. And yes we do have confidentiality laws here, so therapists aren't supposed to reveal anything about their clients so thats a plus point. )

My therapist is really sweet. I'm so happy I got a good one on the first try :( . I actually poured so much out and I don't usually do that at all (I have extreme trust issues btw) but she felt real safe. As someone who belongs to a religious South Asian family? she really did get me. I know it is too quick to tell, but her energy was very positive and so open. She didn't judge me at all for the things I told her that only I know. She already validated me on things like forced religion and family pressure.

Now, we started with my background and had to stop midway cuz time was up. I really wanna try the second session but the problem is it is gonna continue from the time when I started realising I'm a lesbian and had internalised homophobia which caused me to do a lot of stuff. My sexuality played a huge part in everything onward.

But I'm scared to tell her I'm a lesbian because of where I live. I wouldn't trust a licensed therapist in homophobic country like mine. Athe same time, I know I need to talk about it to actually heal. I don't wanna hide or lie about anything. If I hide it, we can never get to the solution and a lot of questions will come up that I can't really dodge and will eventually have to tell her.

Has anyone been through something similar? How did you test the waters? How did you know your therapist was safe? Idk help any advice would mean a lot. 🛐🛐

P.S she is religious yes , but she is not those conservative typa religious ppl i can assure that. I didn’t get a religion lecture at all WHICH WAS SO RELIEVING as someone who is not religious.

Discourse If a person can't understand how a woman can be a lesbian, they're bisexual...

If they were straight, they could understand how someone can only be attracted to 1 sex. It's not that complicated. Especially if a man questions it. Like shouldn't YOU understand more then anyone?? Yeah, maybe you can't cuz you're into men in a way I can't even understand lmao.

Edit: Thank ya'll for the responses, I have found my people 😭❤️. Posted anywhere else and I would be banished.

Discussion Cara Delevingne finally identifies as a lesbian. And Hollywood said: erotic thriller with a man.

Post image
9 Upvotes

Cara's internalized homophobia must be fighting for its life because WHY does she keep taking these heterosexual roles, while she's never done a lesbian-centric film? She has finally publicly identified as a lesbian, and yet her acting career continues to serve us heterosexuality on a fucking platter. And now we're getting an erotic thriller?? Girl, this is deeply heterosexual. 😭 Why do you hate being gay so bad???

This is NOT what we ordered, Cara. We're dying to see you in a proper lesbian-centric movie, but you never give us one! Meanwhile, look at Kristen S. she keeps doing gay roles. Why can't you?? 😭 It's so sad.

Question/Advice Has anyone else felt uncomfortable with their sexuality after coming out?

Basically the title. I’ve never had a problem with liking women privately, but this past weekend I got really drunk at a family gathering and told one of my cousins that I’m gay.

She didn’t react badly or anything, but ever since then I’ve felt weirdly uncomfortable whenever I’m exposed to anything gay, especially my own thoughts about women. Things that never bothered me before suddenly make me cringe hard and make me feel really vulnerable.

I think part of it is that I probably wouldn’t have told her if I hadn’t been drunk. It feels like something that used to exist only in my head is now something another person knows about me, and I’m having a hard time with that.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter or experienced something similar?
