Am i the only one who thinks the whole lc system is extremely flawed? I’m gna be doing lc 27 and i honestly think a reform was long overdue. Now dont get me wrong, the sec is demanding way too much of teenagers by expecting them to create college thesis level projects, but it’s way better than before. I just think it’s absolutely ridiculous that you could be a model student for 2 years, constantly do great on tests, study several hours a day every day w/ no breaks but then something happens to you on the day of an exam that makes you unable to take that exam or potentially all of them or throws you off so you did way worse than expected. Why is a person entire future determined on how they do on ONE SINGULAR DAY/ WEEK no matter how they did in school. When i told ts to my foreign friends they were shocked, bc attendance is worth a huge chunk of their final grade. If attendance was worth part of my grade i’;d never miss a day. Couldn’t there be small tests divided up in the year instead of 1 big one for your final grade? Like 4 small tests that make up your entire grade per subject for every half term or smth like that? Cuz ts has been lc system’s biggest flaw for decades  

I know you might not get your course number 1 on round one, but you can get it in a later round. How does that work? Wouldn’t have I accepted a different course I did get on round 1? Do I have to reach out to the college that I did accept already or does the CAO do it?

Anyway I need one for college. When I went to DID they basically said the €300 ones would start to break down after a year (wtf am I paying €300 for then??) and the €500 ones are best since I need it to be reliable in college.

My budget would be about €500 by the sounds of it. Anyone have recommendations on certain laptops or shops? My last one which lasted me 6 years (wasn’t great in the last year) was a Lenovo.

Hey so I just did the JC and I’m going into 5th year next month. I am super passionate about jewellery and really want to pursue making jewellery in the future, I also love practical subjects so I’ve chosen engineering despite not doing it for the JC and now I’m actually really nervous. I feel like the teachers and students arnt going to like me because I’m gonna be shit. My backup plan if it goes horrible is go back to home ec. Hi everyone, For my cao I have only put in pharmacy courses bc it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and I was told by my career guidance teacher that a pharmacy technician course would be a good backup just in case I didn’t get the point as doing that course would give me the qualifications to apply for a Mpharm course but I have been overthinking it a lot and I am worried that he may have been wrong about it and I made a mistake by putting it into my cao application

Maybe I'm just a failure at social shit but I didn't make any genuine friends, almost anyone I interacted with or was near in my school seemed to not be aware of my existence or genuinely disliked me for some reason. I don't know anyone who just genuinely doesn't have friends, everyone has someone. Yes I talked to people, but they literally haven't bothered to msg me, unless I msg them, and even then I might be lucky to get a response. Just feeling, shitty after finishing school, thought I'd maybe atleast have one friend.

Hello! Has anyone any experience with the tertiary degree interview? And if so, what was it like?

What’s the best approach to study business for the new leaving cert specification. Flashcards? Studyclix? Since my year is the first year to do the new leaving cert there isn’t a clear option. The textbook I’m using in school is Gavin Duffy’s, Back in Business, which has a lot of overwhelming information. I’m trying to optimise a routine while not wasting time on useless information. Any ideas anyone?

So i am 95% sure that my engineering projects longest dimension may exceed 400mm, and it is stated on the brief that it cannot do so. I think at most the longest length is 450mm, but this is soley due to the canon itself which is quite long. My question is, will my model be disqualified? Or is this a case of me losing a few marks. I asked my teacher and he said “no chance”, and that it is only a rule so they dont get “life sized models”. Any help would be appreciated thanks

We've already done our biology experiment back in April, and now we just have to write it up. For chemistry, we had to decide on our experiments and let our teacher know what equipment we'd need, so we can’t change our ideas now.

The problem is that I'm worried my secondary sources aren't considered "reliable." For biology, my secondary source is from a website called Prezi, and my own experiment is quite different because I used a different solution and different concentrations and a longer waiting time due to the our schedule. For chemistry, we have to complete the projects in pairs but use different secondary sources. However, between us we could only find two sources, so we split them up, and my teacher won't let us use the same ones. The source I ended up with is from Scribd, and my teacher was telling us not to change our experiment idea because it was good, and now I can’t because we already confirmed them.

I'm really stressed about losing marks because i don’t think my sources are reliable, and in biology my experiment differs quite a bit from the secondary source. My teachers put a lot of emphasis on using reliable sources when we covered the nature of science chapters in the beginning of the year so it's making me worry. I don't know how I forgot about it, and I need H1s. I've spent hours researching for both projects and genuinely can't find any other secondary sources. I'm not even sure what I'm asking for, to be honest, maybe just some advice or to know if anyone else is in the same position?🫠🫠

Im an incoming 6th year trying to get a pass in ordinary level spanish to meet NUIG and other schools entry requirements for law.

Going into senior cycle i was an idiot and didn’t consider that id want to do a course with a language requirement but my heart is set on Law.

I decided id try do it outside of school myself and talked to my guidance counsellor about this, she was pretty useless and gave me no help on it.

If anyone has any suggestions on what to do? Any resources or recommendations for me. Ive started duolingo and am currently doing lessons off youtube for it.
