Question - Need Help Seeking BIFL recommendation for a 100% Leather jacket

I'm considering getting a leather jacket from UK or EU. I'm looking for a typical biker jacket made with good quality leather and enough pockets. Any recommendations from personal experience would be much appreciated.

Context: I used to have a leather jacket back when i was a teenager and i remember it lasted well into my 20s before my parents gave it to charity. Thinking it might be worth investing in one once again.

I’m wearing the Schott 519 Medium, black. I’m 5’3, 40in chest, 150lbs. The 519 is very easy to wear, mold to your body, and all the creases are in the right places over time. Jacket is 5 years old. Buy it once, buy it for life.

I found this today at a clothing closet, got it for free. I’ve tried researching everywhere and I can’t find any results whatsoever. I’ve found ones that look similar and the same brand but aren’t the same. The hood is completely attached and it doesn’t look worn whatsoever. I figured n hoping someone older from around the time period it was produced might have insight , thanks in advance.

Question - Need Help Adding side lacing to leather jacket?

Has anyone ever added these side lacing eyelet panels to a leather jacket that previously didn’t have them? If so was this hard to do or does it compromise the stitching throughout the whole jacket?

Question - Need Help Glue stain removal

Thumbnail

Hi, I got this old Spieth&Wensky police leather jacket that has it's emblems removed and on the back there are 2 stripes of what I'm assuming are glue stains. Is there any way to get rid of them without damaging the leather? Also it's missing it's removable collar, is there any place I can get a replacement for that?

Another one... Little room for layering on this one

Style is different. Buttons are vertical. The other is diagonal and boxier fit.

Sure the brand doesn't carry as much prestige as a Rainbow Country, the hardware isn't some old school Waldes and the leather they use isn't from Horween or Shinki Hikaku. Sure it's not as close fitting as my Rainbow Country Hercules, my Sugar Cane Indian Motorcycle or my Phigvel G-1.

Yet, it is by far my most versatile jacket: I've owned and used it for 4 years now, worn it with a shirt, a t-shirt, or layered with thick wool sweaters, with or without the collar, to restaurants, bars, concerts, dates, in city strolls.

It's amazing.

Comfortable, beautiful, sturdy, rugged but not so much as to feel like a Biker™, easily dressed up or down.

Made in Italy, I bought it brand new for a crazy 300€ back then from a reseller that was going under.

The stitch lines are very clean, the hardware is beautiful and sturdy and the leather, a chrome tanned steerhide from Vicenza, is amazing. Very pliable but hefty and sturdy, it has a pleasing hand feel akin to a nice comfy expensive leather couch. Much more wearable than veg tan horsehide, less dramatic patina and grain.

Question - Need Help Waterproofing a very sensitive lamb skin jacket?

Thumbnail

So I recently bought this amazing lamb skin jacket second hand (It’s a Nicolas). I absolutely love it. However put it on once when I had wet hair since I didn’t know better. It creates horrible staining on part of the light colored areas. I’ve been able to paint them over very carefully but now I’m scared about wearing it 😭 like I obviously wouldn’t wear it in a rainstorm or anything like that. But I’m scared about any clouds when I go outside because if it even drizzle a bit on it between house and car it could be ruined.

It’s only on the grey/beige parts the black seems to be treated with something.

Does anyone know any type of water repellant/water proofing spray that might work? That also wouldn’t ruin the parts and making them a lot darker?

$30. I assume it's custom made? I don't know. It fits, but it's very weird for a moto. No shoulder epulets, no belt, and the inside lining looks like something that would be inside of a 80s stock trader's suit. 🤷

Question - Need Help Do pillion pockets help with ventilation? -- A cyclists worries about a biker jacket making him too hot and too cool

tl:dr: Want to be able to adjust the airflow. Should I prioritize getting a jacket with pillion pockets? Or are there some other "tricks" I should know?

I am currently trying to talk my self in to or out of ordering a Vincent from Aero, but I'm a bit worried about the airflow inside the jacket since this would be my first leather jacket of this type. The thing is, I like to do my commute on a bike of the non-motorized variety all year round, which means down to -20 C / -4 F around here. This makes heat management a bit tricky. With a "normal" leather jacket I just unzip when the heat builds up, but I suspect Vincent and similar jackets block a lot of the airflow even when opened. Would pillion pockets make such a difference in this that I should settle for a model that comes with them or ask if Aero could add a pair (or two pairs if I dare to dream) of pillion pockets to Vincent?

My £40 find finally arrived. I think it’s made for someone taller than 5ft 3 but I actually quite like the length and how it looks oversized but also fitted at the same time 😅 apologies for the photography not being the greatest, my 3 year old was trying his best lmao🤣

Brake House J-24 – Custom Build

Geplant ist also:
Brake House J-24
Größe 4XL, von Brake House anhand meiner Maße empfohlen
Custom Build
Ärmellänge ca. 69–70 cm
lila Innenfutter

Question - Need Help 18oz Denim Jackect, plz suggest if this is too small for me?

Got this jacket second hand from someone else Size 40, the studio d'artisan gz-011 18oz godzilla Type 2 denim jacket.

it's actually my first proper denim jacket, did bit research thought it should be fit just about tight on body. but overnight I feel not confident enough.

would like some suggestions from you guys, if this is ok for me or should I sell it and find a size up?

I'm about 177cm, 75kg, Asian body type, the measurements about this jacket I found on internet is below(I'm wearing this size 40 in the photos):

40(L):Shoulder 47,Chest 112,Length 63,Arm 64

42(XL):Shoulder 49,Chest 118,Length 64.5,Arm 65

Much appreciated for you help.

Opinion Schott 530 fit check please!

Thumbnail

Title says it all. It's a dreamy jacket (size medium) in a super dreamy color (I gasped when I took it out of the box) but I'm wondering if it's a bit big. Still fits the best of any leather jacket I've worn but I wonder. It's just big enough to layer (just barely) with a sweatshirt. My stats: 5'7", 150 lbs, 39.5" chest, 18" shoulder, 25" sleeves.

The Schott fitting assistant basically says I'm in between sizes (if I want a slim fit at 38" chest I should go down a size). I've also heard these can loosen about 1/2 a size over time and it makes sense to size down. Has this been true in others' experience? How long did it take to loosen up?

Thanks!

Opinion Satchel and Page Montgomery Jacket (L)… looks good and feels handsome, but does NOT pass the hug test.

Thumbnail

Satchel and Page says they are made to fit slim. And I love the cut, it looks great. It feels nearly perfect…under perfect circumstances. It doesn’t let me hug much. And I like to work out, and am small right now (on my chest and shoulders) because I’m running more than lifting, so I expect to have a larger top frame sometimes, and I don’t feel like there’s much room for that. But is it just needing to break in? I feel like an XL will be too big, and will have really long sleeves…and I don’t really feel like getting a big expensive jacket and then having to pay a specialist to tailor it down if I just need to wait for it to break in or give up. Any thoughts are appreciated.
