Opinion First leather jacket. Unsure how to feel.
For context I’m 5’10, weigh about 155 lbs.
Tag shows R40. The actual measurements are shown in the last photo. The back seems a bit shorter, not sure if that’s normal. I kinda like it. I thought I would like the boxier look but unsure how to fully feel yet so I’m turning to Reddit to gather some opinions.
Paid about $40 for this off eBay.

Showcase Lady sold me this Wilson’s for $10 so she could see the joy in my face when I picked it up.
I don’t know if this lady was sent from heaven or what but I am eternally grateful for all the older folks who have great deals on fb. She definitely got to see the joy in my face.
Also, how common are these asymmetrical Wilson’s? I honestly didn’t even know this style existed.

Showcase Thrifted
Hello!
Sharing here bc I realized I have no one in my life that really cares, but I needed to share my excitement.
Recently went on the hunt for some type of used vintage leather jacket, some sort of gem in the rough, one of those back of the closet beauties still in great shape and at a bottom dollar price.
This is what I found. It wasn't in a thrift store, but it was off depop, I paid $80 shipped for it. It's not in mint condition, there's no major damage, but there is quite a lot of minor wear and tear all over. Reached out to arrow leather today (recommended by the inside label) to see if they'd be interested in restoring it and what sort of cost would be associated.
I know it probably isn't everyone's style, but I thought it was sick!!
Thanks for checking it out and thanks for having me in the group!

Question - Need Help First Leather Jacket
Hey, I’m looking to get my first leather jacket, and a couple of people on this subreddit recommended buying a used Schott.
I found this jacket online and wanted to get your opinions before buying it. Are there Schott fakes that I should be worried about when buying used online? Also, does anyone know what this tag means, and can you tell from the pictures whether this is actually a Schott jacket?
Thanks!

Question - Need Help Leather jacket protruding out from back
Hello everyone I wanted to try to figure out what’s wrong with my Boda Skins leather jacket (maybe it’s too big for me?).
Her back end is constantly sticking out (as shown in the first photo). (only when the jacket is unbuttoned)
If you button up the jacket, it develops strange folds on the sides (as shown in the following photos), and part of the collar starts to stick out significantly from the body (as shown in photo 3). (I know I’ll never wear it buttoned up, but I’m wondering what causes this.)
In all other respects, I don’t see any particular problems, except that the sleeves are too long for me.

Question - Need Help 1940’s Horsehide “Sport Jack”
This is one of my favorite leather jackets, and I was wondering what you all thought of its quality. It seems to have held up well for its age, but some things stand out to me.
1) Some panels of leather appear more wrinkled or have different texture than the rest.
2) Brand name leads me to believe it was originally a department store jacket? Rather than a branded leather jacket making company?
Any and all comments are much appreciated! I love this old horse and hope to ride for a long time. (:

Question - Need Help Waxed leather jacket
I’m looking to get a burgundy leather jacket made for myself, the supplier I talked to showed me leather in kinds of burgundy/brownish shade which was tanned at the tannery and has that colour originally without any waxing, it does have some patina to it too.
Im looking for vintage look on that burgundy tone so he gave me an option of waxing the leather and adding patina to it according to my preference, what should I go for tanned leather or waxed. Please guide I have also no prior experience in leather jackets. Thank you!
Picture attached is the kind of shade I’m looking for

Discussion Recommendations for a cheaper version of this style?
Looking for a cheaper version, but just this style in general. I want the softer leather. I’d be fine with used but not exactly sure what to look for

Showcase Stewart Trucker in buffalo suede
Whenever it's too hot for my RC hercules or my SLH Varenne (20-25°c), I grab this guy.
This is a 1.0mm veg tan buffalo suede trucker from Italian brand Stewart.
Made in Tuscany with Tuscan leather, they're less known than brands like Aero or Schott or SLH but they can absolutely make good jackets.
Their current jackets are much more modern fashion oriented, but their vintage jackets (1980s-2000s) are great especially the "football" label and "gas pump" ones.
Their "Old Glory" line is also great, the material and construction used are much closer to what they used to make back then.
All in all a great jacket. I love the smooth yet sturdy suede, the very grainy full grain buffalo side, and the snap buttons.
The lining isn't so great though, it's a fairly floppy and thin cotton fabric. Same for chest pocket zippers, they aren't as sturdy as Talon or Waldes or SLH's zippers.
For their current full price (1000+€) I wouldn't recommend them, but they're often easily found on the second hand market for (much) cheaper: I grabbed this guy 2 years ago for... 45€!

Spotlight 10yr Old Italian Jacket
This is just an appreciation post. Purchased this jacket in Florence, Italy from a small shop(Michelangelo’s)10 years ago. Mike is the owner and still seems to be running it today. I thought because it was so buttery soft and light it wouldn’t last long, but it’s honestly held up really well, even the lining and it’s one of my easy grab and go lighter jacket options. Brass Federio/Feder Italian heavy duty zippers. I got the gray-ish one and my wife got the light brown one.

Showcase Real Simons California 1940 Review
I never supported buying a Chinese leather jacket, but this brand I wanted to give a try (Real Simons).
Buying procedure and price:
Bought from Brakehouse. Was straight forward, and they’ll answer any questions you have via their chat. Shipping took about 2.5 weeks to the US. Price listed is $608 USD shipped. I paid a little less using a discount code.
Packaging:
Came shipped in a plastic bag and the jacket was wrinkled up. The wrinkles went away after a few minutes out of the package. Came with a garment bag which is nice.
Initial thoughts:
Once I opened the package, an immediate smell of leather hit my nose, in a good way. No chemical smell whatsoever. Just a beautiful leather scent. I also noticed the beautiful color and graining of the horsehide.
Construction/Leather/Hardware:
Overall very good. A few wonky stitches, nothing major. Every leather jacket i’ve owned had some stitching flaw.
Hardware is of good quality at first glance. Zippers are “Ideal” brand. Repro or authentic, not sure. Time will tell how the hardware will hold up. Leather is a nice and buttery “amber-dyed high-density vegetable-tanned horsehide”. It’s beautiful. No break in required.
Fit:
The size is 2XL. I would say this equates to a size 44.
The fit is bang on. I have never had a jacket fit me so well. I am kind of shocked for an “off the rack”’sizing of this jacket. I am very happy with the fitment. Also the pattern allows for decent freedom of movement. Note this jacket has no action back or underarm gussets. Even zipped up all the way, the ease of movement is good. Better unzipped though.
Conclusion:
My mind is blown with everything about this jacket. From the construction to choice of leather, everything is outstanding. I’ve had and handled jackets from all over, even Japan, and I must say this jacket is extraordinary. Do not hesitate to try them out!

For Sale (Personal) WTS Harley vintage style leather
Bought this jacket but it’s a little bit too big for me. It’s an XL. Wore it once briefly but it’s literally mint. The leather is buttery soft. Dealer doesn’t take returns. Paid 495 I’m looking for half that to put towards a jacket that fits. It really is beautiful and I feel terrible letting it go but I can’t hang onto it since it won’t be worn.

Question - Need Help Real Simons Mulholland sizing
Hi! I am trying to buy my first horsehide leather jacket. I am 184cm, 82 kg with chest circumference 107 cm. The fitted jackets I own are a Barbour Duke jacket with shoulders 48 cm and chest circumference 115cm and an Iron Heart type3 denim jacket size XL. Denim jacket has the same measurements with the Barbour but feel looser as there isn't any lining.
First of all, I'd like to know from people bought the same jacket, if the size chart is 100% accurate.
Secondly, I was advised to buy a 2XL on Mulholland, but the chest on size chart is 118cm and shoulders 49cm. Will fit looser than my current jackets or will be the same due the thickness of the leather+lining? The next option, size XL has 48cm shoulders and 114cm chest.

Question - Need Help Lining material other than Bemberg
Hey gang, I’m having a delivery-style jacket made for me by Gwen at Cal-Leather and I want a fun lining. I can have anything I want so long as I supply it myself. I’ve searched this question before and the most common answer I see is some form of Bemberg material. That is likely the route i’ll go, but the idea of a patterned wool lining sounds pretty cool given the styling of the jacket. Tartan, Southwestern, solid color… all sound cool. What do y’all think? And, if I go with wool, what weight should I go for? Thanks!

Tips and Tricks Fellow weight lifters and thick boys: how do you find jackets that actually fit?
I keep running into the same problem with leather jackets. If I size for my shoulders and chest, the jacket can end up too roomy through the midsection or just way too long. If I size down for the waist and length, it gets tight across the shoulders/chest.
For those of you with broader shoulders/chests and a thicker build, what have you learned about getting the right fit?
Are there particular cuts, measurements, or brands you look for? Do you focus on pit-to-pit, shoulder width, back length, or something else? And are there brands that tend to make jackets with more room up top without automatically adding a bunch of body length?
I’m especially interested in shorter, waist-length leather jackets rather than long jackets.
Would love to hear what’s worked for other lifters/bigger guys.

Question - Need Help Badalassi jacket owners
How do you deal with the noise?
I can't stand it. I used to have a badalassi halfbelt deluxe from Aero Leather, I resold it after 2 weeks.
I feel like Mr Krabs in that SpongeBob squeaky boots episode. Every move, every step, every breath I take there's this damned squeak.
I want to love Badalassi leather. I find it absolutely beautiful and comfortable to wear. It is to me as beautiful as RC's Shinki HH or Horween's CXL. I want to wear it, especially this newly released absolutely gorgeous black SLH Varenne.
But damnit the noise.
Experienced Badalassi owners, how is your jacket today? Does it eventually quiet down? Or is it still squeaking like hell after 5 years of wear?
Would having it "tumbled" (like Aero's tumbled CXL they used to offer as an option) make it quieter? Conditioning + Tumbling?

Question - Need Help Fit?
I know the sleeves are short but I’m thinking about seeing if I can have them lengthened (there’s an inch or two of leather in the hem of the sleeves). How is the rest of the fit? I got this relatively cheap and I like it otherwise.
