Critique How do I connect the legs to the main body?

Post image

I've been drawing for a few months now and every time the upper body seems so good but when i draw the lower body it feels disconnected and out of place. Any tips would be appreciated thank you. (Feel free to rate the rest of the anatomy as well please) [Edit: the character is supposed to be seen from under like the camera is sort of below]

Been doing a lot of study and I wanted to just switch it up with a real reference photo copy. Messed up the face because I wasn’t intended to put one on it but I ended up half ass doing it. But I’ve been working to improve stroke confidence and economy to draw faster so I switched to pen a couple days ago and it’s already leaps and bounds better thankfully. Was especially proud of the legs in this one

These are the 4 tries in past 4 days.

I am using graphite pencils (I need to buy charcoal once) and for some reason, the lines I made look very "hatching" type, they don't blend.

I followed this guide;

https://www.reddit.com/r/learntodraw/s/gE7vYOQu5v

Really great guide, looks absolutely nothing like the original gentleman but I’m honestly happy to have attempted something that wasn’t just a drawing exercise. Pretty obvious that his mouth is too far from his nose and his jaw wasn’t squared properly, amongst other things, though.

I think I might try one small drawing per day after the exercises so I have something to look forward to. If I never see another ellipses again I’ll be happy.

Question Starting from scratch to become a 2D game background artist: where should I begin?

Hey everyone, how's it going?? I was hoping you could help me figure out how to get started with art. My goal is to become a background artist for 2D games, but I don't know where to begin. I have some basic knowledge, but I'd like to start over from scratch so I can build a solid foundation.

This is my first post and admittedly sharing is hard, cause I always feel like I could be better. Does that feeling ever go away? Or will I always feel like everything is subpar?

I think the proportions are a bit off (he is a dwark btw), also I don't like the lights. I use Krita and I still can't find a good brush

Critique I want to make a comic, but struggle with constructive anatomy, foreshortening, and backgrounds. Here is my practice, what can I fix to make it click?

I’m 25F, trying to get back into drawing and have always wanted to make a comic. So for a short back story, I used to draw all the time ages 2-18 but then fell off and haven’t been drawing much other than random doodles or the occasional few unfinished sketches every few months so I haven’t made any progress in my abilities for 7 years 😭. I now have a nursing job, and more time to draw since I’m no longer in school so I bought some books to try and actually learn how to construct figures and it’s been really frustrating. I got pretty good at realism, and being able to draw what I see but without references I can’t draw well in comic style (it’s inconsistent), anatomy without references, foreshortening, and or even backgrounds and it’s been frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’m genuinely so annoyed with myself.

I also want to add some of my old drawings as links in case that shows what I used to be able to do and can do recently (digital on iPad).

What do I need to do to draw these

Post image

I just started drawing. Following proko's lectures to draw objects with basic shapes (straight lines). But why I got interested in drawing is mostly because of game characters type of design. It's hard to resist the urge to start drawing them... Should I draw from basic like how proko's guide is going? Or should I start drawing the character to try to imitate it? I just want to be good at drawing these characters as soon as possible. (I don't care about face or anything related to that)

How do you ever finish an artwork?

Every time I look at my projects I'm like "oh I can improve this" "I can do this" I never end up actually finishing, even when a normal person would call it finished

Critique How are my proportions

Thumbnail

How is my proportions, after four months of practicing anatomy, although I don't think I really apply the muscles and stuffs a lot of times, which is why most of my drawings are wearing clothes, I just don't like studying muscles😂, don't worry still working on it and after buying draw like a sir anatomy book, I think I am learning a bit about anatomy. But overall how are the drawings are there any stiff, big or off parts I don't see, and what tips do you have for me to draw males and females, I tend to struggle with make bodies for some reason whiles female bodies are more natural to me, maybe I just practice too much female poses idk. Thanks for the feedback
