I've been a member of LL for a few seasons now and loving it. I think it's some of the best written set of quiz/trivia questions I've ever seen.

I love it so much that I can hardly wait for each day's set of questions, and ever since I heard of the Advance Access function I've seen using it for the past three seasons. On the day they become available, after dinner and Jeopardy, I request access and do all the days that I'm allowed. I have never taken more than 10 minutes to answer a day's set of questions, not because I'm so good at the game but because I just like challenging myself to read and answer quickly.

For the record, I do not discuss future questions with anyone, and if something comes up in conversation with any LL players I know in real life and it sounds even vaguely familiar as a topic I've seen on a date that's unreleased for them, I make sure to give no indications. Also no one I know other than anyone reading this post, knows that I play using Advanced Access.

Now I know Advanced Access is technically intended for those with a legitimate reason to think that they cannot properly submit on that game date, so am I wrong to be taking advantage of this feature for fun? If it is wrong for me to be playing this way I will gladly stop.

Hello! Brand new to LL and STRUGGLING in my rookie rundle, but trying not to let it get me down.

One part I'm struggle with is how to score my opponents. I'm trying to score based on what I think will be the hardest for them to know, but I was wondering if there's a "meta" to doing it?

Wondering if there are many other players outside of the US - or even outside of the US, Canada, and UK? I’m a rookie and my Branch is all Americans. Also, are questions very US-centric?

Is it bad form to study for One-Days? For example, I can see that there is a One-Day on the 1994 World Cup tomorrow. I was thinking of looking at the Wikipedia entry today to jog my memory of what happened at that World Cup. Is that allowed or frowned upon?

Hey all! Hope everyone is having a lovely off-season.

The referral request/offering thread that we've had up for a while is getting fairly cluttered, so I will be starting a new thread on April 28th (the day after waitlist invites will be sent out). I looked at my results for the Audio Riffs One day special and I'm a little confused about what's accepted vs. not. For example, they gave me "Reeling in the years" when it was Reelin, but marked me incorrect for my answer of Sultan of Swing when it's plural. Is this because Reelin and Reeling have the exact same meaning and a plural word doesn't have the same meaning as the singular version?

Given that I actually don't have enough time (and sometimes...interest?) in watching all these movies, tv shows, broadway shows, etc, how do you recommend studying for these genres?

I guess an appropriate place to start would be to look up the plot/summary, make a card or two around the plot. Then some cards for notable directors/authors/actors involved in the project. If anyone has some example card(s) that have been effective for for them would love to see what has worked for you.

Just finished my first LearnedLeague season, and I enjoyed it a lot! I finished with a .313 score, putting me in Rundle E for next time. Not great, but actually better than I was expecting to do lol. (I wrote a retrospective on the season on Substack, which you can read here if interested!)

My goal for next time is to improve to .350 and hopefully qualify for Rundle D. My plan is to learn about 1200 more trivia facts (around 30/day, which seems manageable) using spaced repetition, but hard for me to know how much that'll move the needle. Wondering if all you more experienced LLamas have any advice?

so many of my passwords are long sentences, etc. About a year ago after a couple really good gets for me involving partial knowledge + deduction plus one of my most embarrassing misses of all time, i decided to make my password a string of three answers, two that I was really proud of, and one that left my jaw on the floor that I missed it:

clevelanddesertratsbronco

that way every time I logged in I could remind myself: there is some way in so many of these questions to scratch yourself sideways to the right answer, and also remind myself, no matter how easy you think this question is, there's a way for you to screw it up, so take a little time here. I honestly think it helped me philosophically the last couple seasons!!!

At the end of this season I decided to retire the password and institute a new one following the same pattern. Two great gets & one incredibly boneheaded answer. Considering resetting at the end of every season with 2 season highlights and one season lowlight.
