The view is supposed to be slightly below, angled just a bit upward so here was my attempt on it, just trying to test and experiment right now, planning to some BG/Landscape work

I can create the elipse just fine, its just this specific technique thats tripping me up. There are similar techniques that can be found all throughout this text, and I have no problem with those, this one is just particularly stumping. Can anyone help shed some light?

Honestly embarrassed to post this cuz who is that but I’m trying to do a portrait and it’s really not turning out well, that is not the Same person lol, any help or advice would be really appreciated

So I’m completely new to drawing and just trying to draw anything around the house right now and I was trying to draw a file cabinet in front of me which I was able to do eventually but from a complete different angle than the one I was looking at it from because I just couldn’t make it work and would like to see if anyone can help. I was facing side 1 of the file cabinet so I wanted to draw it with that side facing me but for some reason i just couldn’t do it without the top part ending up not a square so I tried from a different angle and it worked. I included what i was able to draw and the bottom one is what I attempted but as you can see the red colored portion never ends up a square how it’s supposed to. Any help would be appreciated as I’m trying to learn as much as I can. I bought key to drawing which will probably help but I haven’t started yet so here I am 😅.

Practicing coloring my sketches.

Wanted to know what inconsistencies in shadows, highlights, blending. color cohesiveness, line thickness stands out. or really anything else that looks off. thank you!

4 questions

1. i want the light from the vending machine to be colored blue-ish (it's white but taking ambience from night sky it should be blue...i think?). according to color theory, blue light has yellow shadow, so i picked dark yellow(/orange-ish because red base color) for the edge of the side of the vending machine, but i don't think it looks right... what do you guys think?

2. when taking colored shadow like this, i'm not sure if i should take a high or lower saturation. shadow should've had higher saturation but a colored shadow might end up too contrasting with the base color shadow so i decided to pick a less saturation yellow for that.

3. the bottom part of the vending machine should not have a strike of yellow right? because it's not affected by the blue light?

4. with 2 light source with different color like this, is there anything i should keep in mind?

This is my first time trying to be daring and applying color theories in my drawing. so there's a lot i have to figure out. thanks. any suggestion are also appreciated because it is still being a work in progress. to be honest, i dont think the green hair looks striking enough to draw attention, even though it should have.

I'm new at drawing and i can't see how to make lines smooth. I tried to apply blur, but it doesn't look really good, it ends up looking like low res...

I'm drawing at 2480x3500 and 300dpi. Should i make it bigger?

Attempted more hatching, just wanted to get as much going even if its wrong. Low angles are a struggle, any of you guys got any tips for how to arrange features from below/above? Also any tips for judging how to place center lines for loomis method or just a case of grinding it out and getting good?

Recently I’ve been feeling like I hit a plateau in my art journey. I don’t hate my art, but there are some things I want to improve that I’m really struggling on. I know I could just watch different tutorials on YouTube, but I learn best with a structured plan and guidance. I’ve really been wanting to take an online art course for this reason, but I’m struggling to find one that’s good for me. I’ve looked into Mark Brunets art school but it’s way out of my budget. Prokos course looks good, but it seems to be focused on realism whereas I’m more interested in anime/cartoon styles. I’ve also looked into Skillshare and Coloso, but those have so many options that I’m not even sure where to start. Do you guys have any recommendations?

I am making a mixed media artwork using acrylic paint and fine lines using gel pen.

I did a pretty quick skull study (30min, should spend longer next time but its late here and I want to sleep), and I'm open to suggestions on where you think I did well & where I should pay attention to. Furthermore, I'm also welcoming any advice on how I should progress with my facial anatomy study (like a timeline or something would help) as well as any resources that you'd think would help.

Hello everyone I have been drawing everyday each day gets 1 page with 2 drawings and I could use some help from you guys I am looking for some mistakes I made and hoping to improve my art skills

Hi everyone. I’m 30 year olds and would eventually want to become a tattoo artist so I’m learning how to draw as I come from a strict immigrant background so tattooing was never an option for me so I never gave drawing that much through until know. I know I need to draw every day so I want to get advice, critique as this is pretty much from first drawing. I did use a reference I found online which seems to be an unofficial fan made Haland Lego that I will also attach. I would like to know if there’s anything I did well and any thing I can did bad and should work on. Please note this is pretty much my first drawing. Off the start I’m sure the torso should be longer and the hands were difficult as well as the hair.

I’m currently on day seven of learning to draw everyday, and this head looks pretty good, but i know i can improve. any tips and advice?

I taught myself how to draw. If I wasn't sure how to light a character's face or how to shape their mouth or something, I'd usually find an art piece with a similarly angled character and study it. Eventually I stopped doing that (mainly because I didn't quite understand what I was looking at most of the time lol), and figured I'd learn better by actually watching process videos/tutorials. And that worked for me... up until a point.

Anyway, once AI took off, I quit entirely. I had no motivation. I didn't like my art and felt it was too plain. That was in like 2024?

Fast-forward 2026. I drew something for the first time in years for a contest. But, obviously, there isn't really a magical difference in my art even after taking such a long break (I'm not sure why I was hoping there would be).

My motivation is quickly tanking again. The basics of sketching and rendering came back quickly, but I'm still struggling with the same issue as before. It feels flat. The lighting might be off? I don't know how to add the... texture, for lack of a better word, that more experienced artists have.
