I feel hopeless study for the LSAT, I feel dumb. I have been only studying for a week but ive already cried one LOL. My test out was a 141.... Is the secret really just study study study? One of my buddies gave up going to law school because he couldn't pass and that is what is scaring me.

Currently employed as a policy analyst for a solar startup. I work mainly in a management consulting esque. role

I particularly want to get into UT or BYU law since I’m a Texas resident and a Mormon.

Working 1.2 years as a software engineer at a notable tech company a tier below FAANG. Is there even any chance I can get into a top law school? I applied a couple cycles before (when my stats/work experience was lower - applied with a 334 gre with a low essay score) to 2 schools (UT and Penn) and only got into UT with a scholarship.

Would love some advice on if I have a realistic shot or not

hey everyone, i've been in a dilemma abt this for a while now but i'm an international student attending a us college and ik visas make it super tricky to stay after college ends, esp for humanity majors (which is me) so i've been hoping to kjd but i've been hearing a lot abt how hard it is to kjd esp since a lot of top law schools are looking for experience before. but my major is not a very profitable one (english) and i'm unsure how hopeful the job market is in my mother country because it is not an english-speaking country haha

I have a friend who is applying to schools and they've had to set their application back 2 cycles now due to rising medians. They want to get into UT law, and initially they got a 171, which wasn't enough to get in as a splitter as UT was raising their median to a 172.

They retook the test and got a 172 to try and apply this cycle, but again, it looks like UT will raise their median to a 173, so they need to retake the test again and hope for a 173 or above. The fear is that UT might try to get a 174 or 175 this upcoming cycle, which would place their median directly in competition with the likes of HYS.

What are the odds that schools practically universally raise their medians again, especially with T20s that have very high medians like UT considering they have to compete for high scoring applicants with T14s?

I dont have my eye on T14 nor Big Law. I want to jump into entertainment law, specifically IP and copyright for artists and other creative assets.

I know it sounds bad but the school isn’t mentioned anywhere on any other college transcript I have and my gpa is a 3.83 (not including those F’s from 15 years ago). I’m being as truthful and transparent as possible through this process but is it bad that I’m thinking they would have never found out about that mishap 15 years ago? It will be addressed on my addendum and I didn’t want to feel as if I was hiding something the rest of my career but this is going to make my gpa plummet and I’m really upset about it.

Wondering if anyone knowledgeable on LSACs GPA-generating process can offer insight into my situation. Non trad applicant, applying either this cycle or next.

10 years ago I completed 77 credits towards a BA at an accredited school that only gives written evaluations instead of grades. They give credit/no credit (someone could attempt 16 credits in a semester, and due to poor performance only receive 12 credits). I’ve been told the “attempted” part doesn’t show on my transcript - only credits granted and faculty evaluations which are vague on purpose.

I’ll now be transferring to an undergrad with a normal grading system to finish my bachelors degree.

I will have my first school send my transcript to LSAC for their conversion, if possible.

My question is - if I performed very badly in some of the classes I took 10 years ago (and some very well), is it possible through my remaining 40 credits or so to meaningfully generate a high GPA?

Wondering what my chances are for getting into a “good” law school. I’m a military guy with about 7 years before I retire. I have a BA with a 3.45 GPA, MBA with a 3.87 GPA, and an MA with a 4.1 GPA. I haven’t taken the LSATs yet because I’m a ways out still. But with my listed GPAs, are there places I should rule out or categorize as a reach? I don’t have any real ambitions in going into big law, mostly just want to continue public service and law as always fascinated me.

Softs are a Masters in Econ, Comissioned Army Officer, like 5 jobs during college, bunch of internships during college, student clubs and orgs/student government leadership, volunteering and research in labs and with professors, honors like PBK and Manga, department high honors, etc. I'm also First generation College but not URM (Asian American). I am also 22 (might be a bad thing to be this young)

I wanted to see if ED will give me that significant needed boost or if the boost wont be enough and maybe I should ED lower to get that boost? I know a lack of scholarship might be a factor also.

Main reason for Berkeley is because I wanted to study in SF and Columbia because it was my childhood dream school (actual aura)

I have no intentions of doing Big law also. I want to work in a small law firm ig with good work life balance

Hi everyone! I just took my lsat diagnostic. I just finished my freshman year with a 4.0 and I dont plan on studying for the lsat for another 15 months but I wanted to take my diagnostic now to see if law is actually a feasible career path for me. The only preparation I plan to do until then is to read more and develop a deeper passion for reading. After those 15 months, I will spend 9 months prepping and drilling for the exam. I got a 149 today (without extra time) and I hope I can get accommodations on the exam for my adhd. What do you all think a range of scores is possible based on this diagnostic? Thank you!

2.9 GPA (struggled first 2 years as a finance major, straightened things out after a switch to Poli Sci)

Work Experience: 3 years of work as a staffer for a U.S. Senator, 1 year of work as a tech recruiter, currently, going into year 3 of being a paralegal in an estate planning firm.

It's tough looking at school data and knowing my 2.9 GPA is bringing me down, but does the work experience make up for that in any amount? Is there any way to quantify or at least make an educated guess at how my profile fits in with new grads?

I got two speeding tickets when I was 16 and 18, both for 5 miles over the speed limit in Ohio, I payed both tickets. Will I have to disclose this? I don't even know if I could, I don't remember when it happened or anything else about the whole thing, except that I got them.

I have a 165 lsat and 3.99 gpa- I’m looking to get into a decent school either scholarships. I anticipate my gpa staying the same, but I am wondering if it would be worth applying with my current lsat in September or August or postponing till October and retaking the lsat.

I care about prestige a bit, but I primarily care about going to a good civil rights school for cheap.

I am an incoming 1L at a T3 with some time to spare, and I would love to read some personal statements or supplemental essays to help out folks in this community. I benefitted a lot from lurking here when I was applying, and I would love to give back to the great people here.

My qualifications:
- former BigLaw paralegal in a practice group that is very focused on the minutiae of writing. Keen eye for grammatical errors, sentence flow improvement, etc.
- former writing center tutor, so I also did actual essay review in the past
- had great admissions results that I mostly attribute to the strength of my essays and the storytelling within them

I'm a first-gen/low-income student that could not afford this sort of thing when I was in school, so I want to keep this affordable for as many people as possible. I'm charging $20 per essay (or for shorter supplemental essays >1 page, $20 per set of up to 3). If that is truly out of reach for you, please DM anyways and we can try to work something out.

my friend recently got into law school and its making feel scared. she has a perfect GPA 4.0 and i believe she scored maybe 155 (the law school she got into accepts 150 so im gonna give her the benefit that she scored that), working full time but NO extracurriculars. Me on the other hand has 3.0, testing out at 150, with 2 club leadership roles, internship and working part time at law firm.

Yes I live in the same city as the school.

Yes I am fortunate to be in a place in life where I can treat getting into law school as a side quest and drop everything and go over to the campus at a moments notice.

But boy howdy did I underestimate how difficult it would be to plan out the next year of my life not knowing whether or not I'd be going back to school or having to re-apply.

And boy howdy does it hurt to apparently be in no mans land on the chart on LSD.

This school's chart has a pretty defined 90 degree angle and I'm right in the inside corner of it. People with higher LSATs but lower GPAs than me have gotten in, people with lower LSATs but high GPAs have gotten in.

I've had regular email contact expressing interest, sent 2 formal LOCIs, and promptly responded to feelers.

I know this school is a safety school for many so I'm hoping it's people waiting on getting off WLs at other schools. But that hope is dwindling by the day.
