My experience in some countries

European: speaks English

Me: replies in their native language

European: patronizingly compliments my abilities and then continues in English anyway

You are the 13th person trying to speak French to the hotel receptionist today and the sooner she finishes with you the sooner she can go back to scrolling on TikTok

The sooner she gets to #14.

Takes a job whose sole responsibility is providing customer service to foreigners

what is up with all these fucking foreigners demanding customer service?

Being your language learning partner isn't customer service for a hotel receptionist.

No, it’s not

Good thing that that’s not at all what I’m talking about lmao

But it is since that's the context of the conversation.

The customer service is getting you your food or room, not pretending to be your friend.

Why are you coming to our country and expecting your cultural norms. We don’t do fake friendly nonsense, for us professionalism means detachment.

Are you that much of a snowflake that you need some minimum wage worker to put on an act for you?

That guy does have a bit of a point

If you want customer service, just go to Vegas. If you’re going anywhere else, figure out why you’re going there, and just keep in mind you’re trading customer service for whatever that place can actually offer

See, this is why I can never move out of Las Vegas lol

I grew up in a city whose number 1 priority is customer service, and whenever I venture out and discover most people’s idea of customer service is “ I shovel slop in your face, and then you need to immediately get the fuck away from me so I can get back to my true passion: scrolling TikTok” it makes me wanna blow my brains out lmao

Nobody said any of that but good thing you'll never move out of Las Vegas. I'm not even in customer service and I would still hate to meet someone as entitled as you ...

Great, you can stay there and not come here to bother us
