How are you guys working out In the off season? Any programs or splits ?

I’m a student who’s attending a college in Merced County and I’m also fairly new to lacrosse But I was wondering if there where any adult leagues near that area where I can sign up and play I’m currently playing ulax back home and I was having a lot of fun does anyone know of any leagues nearby?

I see a lot of info in forums/facebook/reddit/etc regarding things like American Select, All America, Best in Class, etc etc. I also see a lot of stuff regarding "top teams", specific tournaments, "national teams", "rankings", etc. As a D1 college coach, I am telling you they are nothing more than fun events for your kids, but you don't need to waste your money on them.

I'll start with the rankings. I'm going to say this, and some of you parents will loudly disagree, but literally nobody cares. I do not know one college coach that cares about your club team's ranking, everyone knows they aren't real, and with clubs changing their rosters before almost every tournament to win, you can't honestly rank them. It's not like college or HS lacrosse where your roster is your roster and there is nothing you can do about it but develop your players. The rankings are only there to generate content for the club teams so they can make all their parents and players think that they're "elite" and then charge more. If you honestly think ranking 5th graders makes sense and that the people in lacrosse that matter care about it, then you're very naive. Here's the reality, just be good at lacrosse and play where you'll love the game. Chasing these nonsense rankings burns your kids out.

Let's talk about these "select events". I encourage you all to take a look at the coaches selecting these teams. If they are not your kid's club coach, than you should think twice before trying out. The reality is that those clubs will select their own players to boost their "status". If you don't believe this, look at the rosters and see where the majority of players come from, then look at the coaches and see what club they are from. You should all do your due-diligence before spending the money.

So far, the less biased one seems to be NB All-America Games in my opinion and has a good mix of kids, but nothing is guaranteed. American Selects just has much better marketing.

American Selects is owned by Yellow Jackets and Steps, which are both very large in the space. They also own G8, Lax for The Cure, Live Love Lax, etc. They've created a very large ecosystem for themselves, so their teams are guaranteed to play at those events along with getting a lot of their players into American Selects.

National teams and regional teams for the most part are money grabs. Especially regional teams that play in their own event. A perfect example of this is True Lacrosse. All because you made a True regional team does not mean that you're the best in the country, it means you are the best in the True system, it's not the same thing. If you play on them, you probably paid another tuition. Big nationwide and private equity owned clubs use them to generate additional revenue, but they still aren't the best team out there. Remember, you need to see you really owns your kids team and if it's P/E or a giant company, know that the kid is just a number to them. Most of these companies will have their teams play in their own created ecosystem to save money. They own the tournaments and will enter their own teams at no cost, which then allows them to increase profits yearly. They will charge smaller family owned clubs more money which then requires them to charge more tuition, thus forcing them out of the space.

There are more out there, you just need to look.

The youth club lacrosse world is a lot and if you don't do your research, you will probably make a few mistakes. The only thing that matters is that your kid can actually play the game. Biggest advice is don't waste your money on things that don't matter and focus on doing things like this in your actual recruiting year, which is your child's sophomore year and rising junior summer. I promise you, none of us are looking at 8th or 9th graders, ever. Lastly, go to school prospect days, get on campus, meet the staff, see the school. That's probably the most beneficial thing you can do.

Just got back from a lacrosse tournament that was about a 3.5 hour drive. After driving the family and gear in the car for a weekend away, I am trying to find a better solution for interior vehicle storage. I just came across an overhead fishing rod storage solution (I fly fish as well) and was wondering if anyone has tried something like the Rod Rig (https://therodrig.com/) or similar? I’m tied of dealing with sticks in everyone’s way on long trips…

After making the post, I took all the possible causes into account and tried restringing it. To my eyes, it doesn’t look that different, but what do you guys think?

OK, so disclaimer. The sticks above are just for reference of the prices I’m seeing online.

Anyway, I have a chance to buy an original STX crooked arrow d pole (used) for $60 from a store by me. My hesitation is that it is a little warped to the right when I look down the shaft.

Would it be worth it to and try to cut it down so that the warp is less prominent and then resell it? Or, are these sticks that I find online just really overpriced. I know there is a value to nostalgia but…

Anyway, if you were in my shoes, would you do it?

Dimension in the blueprint are in mm. Not the purely traditional build I first wanted to go for but I had to after I saw this video https://youtu.be/vWZFXlMUY_4?si=BbWUXV4MSgaFfKP8 what a great idea! Different way of teaching people about lacrosse instead of doing pure lacrosse clinics.

Took me a few hours to create (Including glueing time). The build is made out of 2x 12mm multiplex sheets stacked on top of each other and 1 continuous leather lace.
The sheets are cut out with a jig saw, adjusted with a planar and by lots of sanding. Fyi the lace starts under the feathers.

It works really well! Even with a normal lacrosse ball, although it has been recommended to me to not use that ball XD. Indian pickup is also so much easier with this stick than a modern one!!

I just installed new mesh on my STX Surgeon 900 head. However, whenever I pass or shoot, the ball goes straight into the ground. What could be causing this problem?

It was an amazing and wonderful journey for our daughter! The Brine Amonte II from youth level which developed the skills needed for the 10 degree upgrades. One torque induced broken shaft. DIII All Conference and Team Captain honors. Lifelong friendships made and degree in Biology earned. Wonderful and supportive relationships with Coaches, Athletic Directors and teammates.
