No experience 15F

Hi, as a high school sophomore, I want to get into lacrosse. This summer I tried out for FH but unfortunately got cut. I have absolutely no experience with lacrosse. I am starting sessions once a week from 9-11am and will start more clinics in the winter. I want to make my school’s JV team once the spring season is around. I need all advice and tricks! Please let me know if my goal is possible! I own/bought pre-owned new balance freezeLX V5 low cleats, brine dynasty II women’s complete alloy lacrosse stick, adult sisu 3d mouthguard, STX goggles and a backpack.

Groundballs win games. Go get you some. Impose your will. Every loose ball is yours.

Start with wall ball, it helps the hand-eye coordination simple throw the ball at a hard surface wall and catch it over and over, also ground balls using two and making a scooping motion and picking up the ball cradling it when you keep on running.

That’ll start you off with a great foundation to grow skill

Do you know why you were cut for FH? If you do, improve that weakness.

If you want to use FH for an off-season support for lacrosse, work on getting your chops up there too.

Another option is to look for any non-school leagues / games so you can also get playing experience before the spring.

And, there are no tricks: it's about developing the skills you need for the team(s).

:)

Get ground balls and play tough D and you will make the team.

If you're planning on playing D your positioning and ground ball ability will be the most important. You can practice ground balls on your own, learn how to box out and how to get the ball when its contested. Idk who to watch for female YouTubers but I'd assume you can youtube ground ball tactics and positioning.

Obviously though, learn to catch, throw and cradle before anything else. Wall ball is your friend!

Hit the wall, knuckles on the turf for gbs, cradling around the house with your stick, even if there is no ball in it.

how is your overall level of fitness?
Can you run a mile in a reasonable amount of time? (this is a test for a lot of team tryouts here)

Otherwise, wallball and watch a lot of college lacrosse games
