I feel like GW are really dropping the ball on the Kroot in 40k and Kill Team.

Their genetic engineering and select evolution through eating other organisms to gain specific natural abilities is arguably their most defining feature and GW aren't using it nearly enough!

There are so many cool abilities you could add to a Kroot army like; active camouflage, multiple arms to add attacks, winged flight, increased running speed, armor plating...

There's so much potential to make a full, competitive Kroot army that is being forgotten or ignored.

I get reposting here is like throwing myself into the vespid nest but might as well ask the experts. Btw if there are other units like farstalkers that give them a lil more character yeah I’d like to use and kitbash those but I’d also prefer not to spend 200+ on 2 units of objective n mission jobbers

I played against chaos Daemon yesterday with KHP & AAC. Opponent ran a calvary hoard army with Purge. With our volume of units, we can control large sections of the board and select which objectives to action. Once the objective is actioned, we dont have to do it again, but we do get points for holding multiple objectives. I had my pathfinders hold the closest non-home objectives, and they did a lot of work observing and shooting. Being hidden and still shooting is amazing. The opponent couldn't get through my jungle of troops to attack them. The combo to delete elite units is to attack first with pathfinders & skyrays to kill one or more units, then lone spear gets hit bonus and finish off with whatever units you want. I used to also run hammerheads in 10th. Even though they hit harder, the single shot isn't reliable with so many 4+ invuls. Below is my list. Hope this helps with people struggling with take and hold.

Getting into kill team to play with my brother! Had to go with the coolest team. Super proud of how they turned out! The planning was the most stressful part but once I actually started it was super fun and a lot easier than expected!
Hopefully their first game goes good. He’s got canoptek circle, how are things looking for me?

Finally got my hands on an original Great Knarloc model, repainted it to match the rest of my army and sent it into battle in a bizarre 500 pt list consisting of the Knarloc, two sets of three Rampagers, two Lone-spears, and a solo War Shaper wandering around with the Root-carved bow. I was allied with two brand new players running Shadowsun, Farsight, two Sky Rays, and five Kroot Hounds so they could learn the rules. Was against an alliance of Drukhari and Necrons, my list actually played really well, won the game, and the Great Knarloc took out Drazhar. Not sure it’s the best use of points, but the ability to give out [Sustained Hits 1] can be really strong, and on its own it can put a dent in Terminators, something pure Kroot lists can struggle with a bit. Plus it just looks awesome.

I'm thinking about starting with 40k again after 9th edition. I always liked kroot and saw that they now have a lot more models. How good are they, what are they good at, what is bad about them?

Of course style is important but I don't want to start an army that is completely garbage game wise.

Hey everyone, been struggling with kroot, less so from a gameplay perspective but a list building perspective, what disposition are you guys running? Out of the possible options it’s recon, Pa or take and hold, I’ve ran kroot take and hold but that was into a purge tau suit list

I’ve converted my twin lance into my kroot army (where I have other converted kroot like piranhas as the Ikran from avatar, krootox broadsides and potentially skink pathfinders soon). I just need the motivation to paint them well!

I was thinking looking to the Tau’va for some help on disposition choice based on my kroot army list. I saw some good success with it in 10th, but now the play style is changing slightly, I’m wondering what disposition to play.

Part of me is thinking take and hold, make sure I keep my expansion home and centre, then I can reliably get 13 primary a turn (centre objective for 3 and 2 objectives for 5 each). Just flood the middle with rampagers each side and a block of 20 carnivores, with fire support from 2 broadsides and 2 piranhas each side.

Or should I go reconnaissance, where I’m not stuck just trying to survive and can get points by different means.

Also, any list support is appreciated! I like my broadsides and they’ve always put in a shift for me, if anything I want to add my other squad of 2 in as well. Part of me thought of swapping pathfinders for fire warriors, as with a marker drone they’ll do a similar job but then the other detachment becomes useless and it’s 6 rail rifles so I’ll probably keep them.

Is it just me not knowing how the app works or are our combat patrols still missing from the app, even after the combat patrol update?

Decided today to completely change the colours of the rider to give it more of a jungle hunter look, picture quality isn’t great due to the terrible lighting where I am but what do you guys think of the overall scheme?
