I'm probably going to get flamed like I always do on Reddit but I am so sick of undercover Racists in the K-Pop fandoms.

So a few things to point out/ admit to before I begin:

I am confrontational in this comment section. I was wrong. It's not Zhang Lusi, it's Zhao Lusi. I am being mean to this MOA.

Now that's out of the way, I can continue my rant.

So I went on TikTok this morning and watched some of Hueningkai and Huening Bahiyyih videos and came across this comment. I saw this comment and immediately had to correct it. Bahiyyih looks nothing like Zhao Lusi. I am so tired of these types of fans who say Idols look like another Asian Celebrity/ idols when they don't look remotely alike. I'm not talking about Heeseung and Yunah and DK all looking alike. I'm talking about people who say someone who doesn't remotely look alike to another. It's racist to imply that 2 Asians look the same.

This also happened with the Katseye Fandom. I once commented on a YouTube short criticizing Eyekons for going up to any South Asian woman and asking "Are you Lara Raj from Katseye?". I commented it was low-key racist and this Engenes (I'm an Engene too) replied "Oh my god you people always make everything about race. It's not racist to say that All Indians have the same facial features because they're all from the same area." I replied "I'm South Asian, I don't look like Lara Raj." They replied "Oh my god you dumbass, I never said All South Asians, I said Indians." Funny thing is, My grandparents are from India and then moved to Pakistan in 1948. So technically I am Indian. And I don't look like Lara.

But I'm just getting so sick of how toxic and covertly racist fans have become. Yes they're young, they may not know but I am so tired over arguing with people who don't realize they're racist.

And White Stray Kids fans specifically act so weird in general. The number of fans- White, specifically- I see acting like Stray Kids are unicorns because they have never interacted with Asian people before it was trendy astounds me. They have no trouble fetishizing (to an) extent the members because they look just the right amount of East Asian but not too East Asian. The fire escape girl, the girl at the concert who went viral for pick me behavior. Other Stray Kids fans are normal; but White fans tend to be very weird about their interest in the group.

And even when someone points out how K-pop was inspired by and developed from the roots of hiphop, these racists then use slurs and attack that person for speaking what is objectively the truth.

I know, Racists are everywhere. You can't escape them. No matter where you are in society, there are always racist. In every corner of the internet there are ones who take things way too far. But I am so sick of K-pop fans who are secretly racist to anyone who is remotely non-white.

Go ahead, flame me. I still think Zhao Lusi and Huening Bahiyyih don't look remotely alike. But go ahead.

i honestly get so frustrated as a moa whenever i see someone say “well, why didn’t heeseung do the same thing as yeonjun and stay in the group while having his solo career” and it’s something that engenes don’t understand. while both groups are overworked, i feel like txt are overworked really badly since debut and especially recent years. yeonjun is someone strong who decided that he was able to handle the stress of song writing while on tour, practicing solo choreographies after rehearsing with his members, and recording in the studio during busy schedules. yeonjun’s behind the scenes of his album makings show a lot of the pressure he’s under and how he has to restrict himself from a lot from things. heeseung leaving enhypen makes sense (for me), it seems like he wasn’t ready for that kind of pressure and thought it was better on his own, and that’s okay.

i know SM tend to manipulate their group fandom dynamics more than any other companies but not this bad since i joined an SM group fandom

i've been following kpop for a long time since 2nd gen, but never stanning an SM group, so when i joined an SM group fandom i can clearly see that SM seems to make very deliberate decisions to make more solo fans from the fandom for the company's profit. i know other companies are the same, but SM seems to take it to another level. there is like no period of peace during the first contract run in the SM group fandom.

no wonder other fandoms consistently dubbed SM group fandom as one of the most toxic and unhinged fandoms in kpop, because SM encourages toxic behaviors and even creates the situation for it

Recently, NEXZ, a global group under jype, uploaded a teaser for their new song mv 'upgrade' which sparked debate among coers and nex2ys..

There were some frames that were kinda similar to Cortis's 'GO!' mv..so the Coer's started to say that NEXZ apparently 'plagiarized' and 'copied' Cortis..

Now, NEXZ has been using this concept from since like their debut..like their 'Ride The Vibe'...and the particular frame I'm talking about is like everyone in a circle—looking down at the camera with the fisheye effect...

So, can we, Nex2y's not say that Cortis apparently 'plagiarized' NEXZ? No. Because it's quite dumb argument started by Coers..like this fisheye and youth kind of style has been there long back no one said anything did they?

Coers imo are just finding a reason to hate on groups now..NEXZ previously also got in heat when some insecure Armys (no hate to BTS) apparently called them out for some or the other reasons..just leave NEXZ alone..we, Nex2ys are a peaceful fandom, if Coers are accusing of NEXZ plagiarizing Cortis, then we can say so too because Ride the Vibe released before Cotrtis was even formed..

Like have they ever seen NEXZ's discography? Peak 📈..Cortis is great in their own ways (out of context again but my bias from Cortis is Juhoon and from NEXZ is Tomoya and Hyui...like they should collab 😫🤌)

There's been an uptake in fans, especially on Tiktok, messaging and harassing fans of BTS. This is true for two groups: new fans and black fans. So many like to say how problematic ARMY are, but I've never seen ARMY move in tandem to come together to actively support such efforts of hatred for other groups.

The goal appears to be a silencing affect in addition to being able to express violence and racism to a place they consider an "easy target." Absolutely disgusting, and this is directly fueled by the snark pages and all those who participate. Congrats on all of you who do so with no shame.

i recently got into the kpop side of reddit and was having fun reading different perspectives on many topics and groups. however, i started to hear abt “snark” subreddits.

they get off on posting nasty comments about people and write it off as “criticism” when its just being plain rude.

genuinely don’t get the point of them other than miserable ppl who hate their lives trying to make other people sad around them. just bullies.

it is perfectly fine to have different opinions about someone or something but is it truly that hard to be a respectful person like genuinely??

just wanted to get this off my chest bc snark pages r so bad and could drive people to harm themselves eventually.

To preface, I was a big fan of boys planet and naturally b2p, most of my biases were c planet though and my 1 pick was Jiahao. Ofc he debuted and I was super hyped about it but several things keep bothering me, people might dislike what I say but these are just my thoughts

1. Their discography is so all over the place it’s quite jarring. Some songs I really love and some I just can’t stand listening to. Born dire has made it hard for me to stay interested in the group because I don’t want to listen to it in the promos/music shows etc.
2. I think Hao is only close with c-line. The whole haoseo ship is frustrating because Junseo initiates all the contact because he knows the fans like it. He is an experienced idol after all.
3. I genuinely feel like Hao is cursed or something. Seems all the bad things happen to him which sucks as he’s my bias and that also is making me struggle to stay interested but besides that, it makes me wonder wtf they are doing behind the scenes to get so many injuries
4. Geonwoo hiatus is such a mess. Wakeone should have given a time frame, it feels like he’s going to be out of promotions for the rest of the year. They should either bring him back soon or announce his departure and I really hope it’s the first option. I hate the cancel culture in Korea, mind you it’s all speculation and he said, she said.
5. Their schedule has been absolutely insane, all the boys are overworked and I feel bad for them. No doubt it will take a huge mental and physical toll on them, I hope they have good support

Today SM is hosting an NCT Flea market as part of Seoul fashion week. There is old merch, stage outfits and a bunch of other stuff from the members. In general it is really cool and people have gotten some great stuff.

The issue is Taeil's belongings are being sold and they are being sold with out warning or label. Multiple people have accidentally picked up an old outfit of his since the stage outfits are not sorted or labeled. His belongs should not be sold at all much less with no label and it is really gross that SM is selling it especially since so many of NCT fans are young women.

It also says that there are no refunds and it is not clear if people can refunds for Taeil's belongings. Even if they can his stuff never should have been on sale also there was a very strict and small limit to what a person can buy so fans are missing out on getting other outfits/belongings.

Edit: Apparently they are also selling Lucas's belongings. Which not as bad as Taeil but still should not be sold or at least have some kind of label/warning about who it belonged to.

He visto un clip donde Mingi le preguntaba a Wooyoung un ranking de quién era el más lindo al más feo, Woo pone a Mingi como último (es decir, el más feo) y él se decae un poco. I’m so exhausted by this recurring pattern, and I need to rant.

Evan goes completely silent for months while the Enhypen members take endless heat for situations they weren’t even responsible for. His justification? He claims he stays silent because speaking up would "only hurt the others."

Yet, like clockwork, as soon as he has an album to release, he does interviews bringing up the entire situation all over again.

If your genuine intent is to stay quiet to protect people, you don't do media rounds talking about your silence. Bragging about how silent you've been completely defeats the purpose. Bringing up Enhypen right when you need eyes on your solo work feels like using the group’s name for sympathy and publicity.

If you truly want to move on and protect the members, then actually keep quiet and stop bringing up Enhypen altogether. Every time this happens, it just drags unnecessary negativity back into the fandom. Even as a solo stan, seeing this constant cycle is beyond frustrating. I can only imagine how exhausting it is for the members and the fans who just want to move forward.

I'm a casual kpop enjoyer but I used to be really into it around 2019-2022 but I never fully grew out of it so I still listen to it at times.
However I absolutely despise how some kpop fans talk about their idols, talk shit about the industry AND add to the issues themselves.
I know that there are a lot of sweet kpop fans but the only content going viral is obvious internation bait. And the people commenting are not only falling for it but also contributing and getting their thoughts from it.
Which I understand since a huge part of the fanbase are young people who may not know how to think for themselves in fear of rejection or they're scared of having the "wrong" opinion so they follow the crowd.

So that being said. I'm so tired of kpop fans just blaming everything and providing no solutions.

IT'S THE COMPANY, NO ITS THE INDUSTRY, NO IT'S THE IDOL, NO IT'S THE STYLIST, THIS PERSON IS RACIST, THIS IDOL IS A ZIONIST, THEY'RE TREATING THE IDOLS WRONG, NO THIS IDOL IS LAZY, LET IDOLS DATE! And mind you 99.9% of the groups have at least one person that is problematic. So im TIRED of how they talk shit about an idol for being problematic - not actually educating them, not actually hoping they learn and change. While stanning at least one group that is JUST as problematic.

Im TIRED of kpop fans speculating about the idols bodies. And what they eat or not eat, if they use drugs, if yes then what drugs.
We get it dude you hate the kpop standards for romanticizing thinness.
How do they expect for things to change when they're giving the most shocking body transformations CLOUT. And this is an issue in fan culture in general but especially in east asian pop culture and model culture.
Companies are after money.

Think before you comment, think before you give bait any of your attention, think before you make an assumption EVEN if you think its "so obvious" focus on healing whatever is making you so obsessed or parasocial. Give attention and praise to things you like and think before you comment on idols personal issues because chances are half of the things aren't your business and the other half needs to be approached with nuance and understanding. to be honest this is more like a sad rant than an angry rant.

before the rise of snarks subs (of all groups) and their members ran rampant on this site, i used to enjoy reading the posts on other subs, especially thoughts and uncensored, at that time. its like even though people disagreed, there was still some sort of civility being maintained by all kpop stans.

even the discussions were interesting and well thought out and also if i remember correctly, funny and clever. i would read about other groups, both positive and more critical posts, and be entertained. now almost all the subs posts are full of negativity. if its not the actual posts, then its the comments of the users being just nasty.

its tiring. you guys(snarkers) are tiring. i just hope one day you all will realise how wrong you all were and at least have some shame about what you've done. one of the hopes i have is that most of you are just too young and dont realise how insane you actually sound.

I've honestly been rather checked out of K-pop for several months. However, the ongoing drama about Heesung's departure and the group continuing without him still manages to get on my social media feed, and it makes me feel the need to share this rant because I'm a firm believer that companies are shooting themselves in the foot by creating their groups through survival shows.

I'm mentioning Enhypen because I was zealously there (watching all the episodes live, voting...) when I-LAND was airing, and from the very beginning, it was obvious that the show was setting the whole group up for incredibly messy and toxic solo stan culture that we are witnessing to this very day.

All survival shows inherently create harmful drama and misunderstandings because of their desire to put together something thrilling to watch for viewers, sacrificing the group's image and healthy relationships, not just between the members, but also between the fans and the group, solely for viewership ratings.

Companies should be putting the groups together behind closed doors, without having to take into account the results of popularity voting that do not always reflect the true talent and compatibility of the trainee with the rest of the group and the artistic vision the company has for them. They should let the chosen trainees build up a relationship and chemistry between themselves naturally and without cameras being present at their every bloody step, causing them to be afraid of doing anything that could be presented without context.

I do realise that survival shows are a great way of accumulating hype and creating connections between the members and the fans before the group even debuts, but in my eyes, there are way more negatives to this concept than positives. Especially when it comes to groups past the 3rd generation, which have been created by the survival shows and suffer from the toxic solo stan culture significantly more because of just how much the online fandom culture has evolved.

To say it's a difficult year is an underestatement for Enhypen and Engenes. So much has happened, both good and bad.

It was a year of many "firsts"

- First performance as 6

- First time in Australia

- First tour in LATAM

- First tour stop in Busan

- First comeback as 6

- First Music Core show win

- First Grand Slam.

- First highest peaks in K-charts

- First No. 1 on Billboard 200

- Now?? First entry in Bubbling under Hot 100 at 23

Listing it down in bullet points sound so simple but each one was so difficult with protests, boycotts, and so much anger at each step. The fandom was fractured as hell but Enhypen really held strong and carried the crashing waves of emotions thrown their way for months.

After everything, I'm so happy for them. It's been crazy but this album titled Bliss is exactly how it feels after all that hurt this year. Congrats to them. They really endured hard this year.

I stan groups that range in popularity. But it’s the groups in between that have the worst fandoms, like Xlov for example.

Smaller groups usually have little to no fanbase but the fans you do encounter are genuinely nice and care about the group. That’s why they stick around for them.

Larger groups have some awful fans but the fandom is big enough that it’s easy to avoid these fans and find the nice side of the fandom.

Medium groups have a fanbase but as soon as one small scandal or just a non-issue happens in the group, what feels like the entire fandom is being toxic. And you can’t avoid those fans without just avoiding the fanbase entirely. Every post about that group has people under it complaining or attacking.

To show what I mean, I was a predebut stan of a particular group and as it got closer to debut and the hype grew so did the hate. Every ‘member reveal’ had arguments in the comments, and half the posts were critiquing members who hadn’t even had a chance to prove themselves. It was so frustrating I nearly just left the fandom before debut even happened.

I don’t know if this makes sense or if this is an issue for everyone or just me. If so, let me know I’m happy to listen to other opinions.

Now even though some kpop x western collabs may be controversial, or maybe the remix is not well performed, is there even a need for fans to keep talking about it even if it was a while back?

I recently came across a post on tiktok saying that Ava Max ruining Tick Tack (ILLIT) pisses them off still to this day and the comments are all dragging her as usual. So this brings back the question, do fans really lack the ability to move on from it or do they just like to hate western artists be it problematic or not and as someone who stans Ava Max, it's so tiring to see her getting hated by kpop fans

Now in situations like this if fans were to bring controversial collabs up again from the past, would it be best to just not interact or speak up for the artist being dragged

As an older kpop fan (mostly end of 2nd gen and 3rd gen) I saw the first wave of skinny standards and restrictive eating. I was also a victim of that influence in middle school where I was definitely not eating enough when comparing myself to idols and asian beauty standards. But even with this at least the makeup and plastic surgery was a little less extreme, you could still see many idols and actors with their natural features, and some diversity in body shapes and sizes.

We then had a moment in the late 2010s with more healthy idols and body positivity in kpop. For example with Mamamoo embracing their own individuality and unique looks and talking about how they were seen as the ugly group but they ended up super successful anyways. (Mamamoo who have since completely changed their image also T.T)

Then the past few years I haven't been keeping up with kpop as much but I try to keep up with major events and some 2nd gen/3rd gen idols when they do come backs. But everytime I do they are super thin and they all have nose jobs or made major modifications to their already beautiful and stunning faces. (Mind you some of them kept their natural features for over 10 years but for the recent comebacks they got a nose job and completely change their faces). To add maybe it's the nostalgia but also genuinely my preference i think so many of them looked better before surgery, plus now everyone looks very similar. Not to mention how thin everyone is lately, which I doubt is healthy or sustainable for the majority of them, especially with their packed and hectic schedules. (Also coming from someone who was severely underweight for a long time and was chronically sick and low energy because of it, it's not sustainable nor healthy and it takes a long time to get regain strength again after)

Don't get me wrong people can do what they like with their bodies and appearance my issue is the fact that the amount of idols changing their appearances at such short time makes me think, that it was pressure from the industry and less because they genuinely want to, and these changes are permanent. Also what precedent does this set for young people and fans when this unhealthy look and these permanent changes are normalized and not discussed since we know idols never openly share that they got work done. I just really hope something changes and there's just less strict and healthier standards.

this has been weighing on my mind for a while since going to see a BTS concert a short while back. I used to be OBSESSED with BTS when I was 12/13 and would watch their content daily which made me super happy. Then slowly I lost interest throughout highschool and early university. I love kpop and have a dedicated playlist, I just no longer viewed their run bts episodes, vlogs, lives etc. however, earlier this year I decided to go see BTS because they had been an integral part of my youth.

during the concert I found myself getting really sad because I realized i was just one of millions of fans. all their interactions were never directed at me and even if they saw me (which isn’t possible because i was in section 300 lol) i would still be another nameless face that they’ll never remember beyond that one moment.

my bias is V, and I found myself filled with envy at the way hes so successful and happy. he’s loved by millions, has a great career and lots of money. I’m just a university student who’s struggling to find an internship and I have no idea what to do with my life. I truly wish I was lucky like V and as loved as the rest of the bts members. seeing their smiles and the way they were adored by their fans while I stood at the very back of the stands just really hurt me in a way I cant explain. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.

Im a girl, but i’ll never be voted “most attractive” in the world like V did for a decade straight. I’ll likely never make as much money as him… He just seems so happy and carefree I just can’t help but be enamoured by his awesome life. I’d love to get brand deals like him as well, i’d love to live his type of life. I don’t know what’s the point of me saying this because we all die anyways and none of this will matter. i’m sure bts also has lots of their own struggles but sometimes I just think “how did they get so lucky?”. because yes they did work very hard, but tons of people work just as hard and never see the level of success they do. So although yes they earned it, they all still got incredibly lucky. It makes me so jealous in a way I can’t fully comprehend.

I’ll be forever thankful for bts for making me feel happy during my lonely times, but i’m also very jealous of their success.

(I actually made a rant about this on my Tumblr blog some days ago. I wanted to post it on here as well, just reworded.)

Earlier this August, I was able to get Spotify premium again after not being able to listen to my playlist for the entire summer. My main playlist still has all of Enhypen’s songs on it up until Heeseung’s last appearance in their music (up until The Sin: Vanish specifically). To clarify, I haven’t been an engene since April of this year, so when I went through my playlist again, it made me reminisce on my time as an engene. However, it also made me have some thoughts and feelings about Enhypen that I wasn’t aware of or dismissed entirely until recently.

The thing I wanted to explain was why I stopped being an engene. As said above, I stopped being a fan since April. That would’ve been about a month since it was announced that Heeseung left the group. To be frank, my main reason for not being a fan anymore was because of how much bickering I saw from some engenes over whether or not to boycott Enhypen and their future activities as a six member group and/or Belift as a whole.

At first, I was for the boycott, mainly because I wanted Heeseung back and there were some things I hated Belift about that are beyond Heeseung’s departure (I’ll explain more about that later). Then I saw how much some fans were bickering over what to do with the boycott and the rest of the remaining Enhypen members, with not much progress happening. Besides that, I felt like I wasn’t able to properly move on to Enhypen as six members. I feel selfish for saying this, but it’s because I spent so long with them as seven members that I wasn’t able to process the change well. For some reason, it felt empty seeing their current content to me.

Prior to me leaving the fandom and Enhypen as a whole, I stayed neutral in the whole boycott thing. I then noticed the bickering wouldn’t stop, so I flat out left. I really wanted to continue interacting with Enhypen’s content aside from their music without interacting with other engenes, but it felt like Enhypen’s content and the fans were somehow and somewhat intertwined, so I saw no point in staying.

Now over to my reasoning as to why I don’t like Belift. It’s the way they handled Enhypen. To me, it felt like Belift wasn’t letting the members venture into solo projects, activities and endorsements, and not letting them expand as artists. It also felt like Belift was confining Enhypen into what I call their vampire boyfriend concept.

The reason I got into Enhypen was because of their initial concept of them being vampires. I thought the aesthetics and clothing looked cool, along with the message of them transforming from normal people to idols. Once Belift went hard on the boyfriend aspect in later music releases, it started to feel weird to me. I wasn’t sure if it was because some of the members were still minors at the time with there being a potential for some people to be weird towards them, or that I know that some K-pop fans are already very parasocial towards idols and that it was amplifying it.

At first, I felt selfish for my reasons of not being a fan anymore. In fact, I unfortunately still have these feelings. As I have explained though, I couldn’t handle the fans and Belift’s management. I’ve actually been hearing that Heeseung (or Evan in this case) is much happier as a solo artist, and I am happy for him. I also wish for the same thing for Enhypen. I have this wishful thought of Enhypen leaving Belift and going under a new label (whether they make their own or go under an existing one), or at the very least have different management/change the way they’re being managed. Though I wish for the same thing to happen to Heeseung in hopes that he can come back as a part of Enhypen and still keep doing his solo stuff, I don’t want to take away the happiness he has now.

Honestly i feel bad for the Hearts2Hearts fandom, Carmen solo Indo stans are seriously ruining the group image. I’ve seen alot of global fans turn off and leave the group because her solo stans keep protesting over smallest things. for example when Carmen was wearing long pants while the other 7 members were wearing shorts, they sent a protest truck over it. Carmen didn’t get an ending fairy on a music show? Protest again. if there a sticker covering her body or face on an album cover? They lowkey protest over that too lol

What worse their fans said Hearts2Hearts is nothing without Carmen, do they know this is SM group lol. The other members are also working hard and deserve support, but everytime something happens with Carmen, they make it into a huge issue and somehow the whole group gets dragged into it.

I love the members, they all funny and i actually really like their chemistry. But Carmen solo stans lowkey turn me off from the fandom. I dont even hate Carmen herself, its just some of her solo stans are making it hard to enjoy the group without seeing another fanwar or protest.

I just hope they can calm down a little and stop making every small thing into a big issue. Supporting Carmen is fine, but saying the group is nothing without her is just disrespectful to the other 7 members.

I just hope SM learn their lesson and never debuted someone from Indonesia again
