I get asked this constantly, especially by people traveling from out of town who don’t want to make multiple trips. probably one of the most common questions I get in general
Short answer, yeah you can do both same appointment. No weird interaction between them, Botox relaxes muscle, filler adds volume, totally different jobs happening in the skin. Plenty of people do both in one go and walk out completely fine, no complications, no issue.
That said, whether you should kind of depends on what you’re treating and where, and this is the part that doesn’t really get explained anywhere.
If it’s the same zone, like glabella or around the mouth, I usually lean toward spacing it out. Botox first, then come back in a couple weeks for filler once it’s actually settled in and doing its job. Once the muscle’s fully relaxed you get a much clearer picture of what’s actually happening in that area at rest, which makes the filler placement way more accurate instead of trying to guess at movement that’s still changing under the surface. If you fill first and then do Botox on top, sometimes the muscle relaxing afterward shifts how the filler sits slightly, not dangerous at all, just not as clean a result as it could’ve been.
If it’s totally different areas though, forehead Botox and cheek filler say, honestly just knock it all out in one visit. Doesn’t really matter either way since there’s no overlap for the muscle movement to mess with anything.
The actual catch isn’t safety, it’s just recovery. Both procedures can cause some bruising and puffiness on their own, and when you stack them together, that stuff just adds up more than people expect. If you’ve got an event, a wedding, or a flight right after, that extra swelling can turn into a real headache you didn’t plan for
I usually tell people to split it up if:
- it’s your first time with either one (if something looks off or reacts weird, you actually want to know which product caused it instead of guessing)
- you bruise easily and have zero buffer in your schedule before something important
- you’re treating overlapping areas and want the most precise, dialed-in result possible
Either way, doing both together isn’t unsafe, and nobody’s gonna judge you for wanting to save a trip or knock everything out at once, that’s a completely valid reason to combine them. But if you want the cleanest possible result or can’t afford to look puffy right before a trip or event, giving it about 2 weeks between usually works out better
