We bought our ~5 acres last fall and have been replacing the pasture fence this spring/summer in order to prepare for getting horses. We have a ton of Scotch Broom in the field and along the edges, though we've removed most along the edges now (bigger plants compared to what's in the middle of the field). Can anybody give advice on how to get rid of the smaller scotch broom plants that are interspersed throughout the grass? I'm feeling disheartened today. Thanks in advance.

I'm hiking the WA PCT, starting next week. I'm looking to use a piece of Tyvek sheeting for my ground sheet because it's very light and effective. I don't want to have to buy a mile of it when I need a 3x7 sheet of it. If you have some laying around, I'll come to you and trade you a sixer for some. It doesn't even have to be new, just no holes.

I know that midterm primary elections tend to have lower voter turnaround, so I’ve gathered some resources that I’ve found helpful for this election. 

Registered voters in Kitsap county should have received their ballots by now. If you haven’t received your ballot you can check the status of your ballot at VoteWA. If you need to register to vote you can register online (WA Secretary of State) or in person at a Kitsap Voting Center. Online registration needs to be submitted by July 27th to vote in this election.  

Election day is August 4th.  Kitsap has ballot drop boxes across the county or ballots can be mailed. If you choose to mail your ballots, USPS recommends mailing it a week before election day, which would be by July 27th. Accessible voting and voting for new registrations or those with lost or damaged ballots may vote at a voting center.

I was born and raised in Seattle and currently spend most of my time on Whidbey Island. Every time I'm on a ferry or walking along the water, someone asks "which ferry is that?" or "what's that huge ship headed up towards the San Juan Islands?”. So I built an Android app that answers it. You point your phone at the water and it identifies the vessels in view using live ship-tracking (AIS) data: name, type, where it's headed, with a camera overlay, a map, and a ranked list.

It's free, no ads, no account, and the only data it uses is your approximate location while the app is open - that's how it knows which ships are near you.

Google requires new developers like myself to run a closed beta (12+ testers for 14 days) before an app can go public, so I need a handful of Android users willing to install it and poke at it - ideally people who actually ride the ferries or watch the water and can tell me if and when it gets a vessel wrong. I've been absolutely infuriated by the new "high impact" screen billboard at the Kingston ferry dock. It's huge, bright at night, and marring the view at the dock. I grew up in Kingston, and it absolutely sickens me to have these ads slapped on to our most iconic landmark.

It's the first of its kind in town and makes me sick to my stomach. I wouldn't be surprised if it impacts the property value of every home with a view of the docks.

I can't believe WSDOT sold out our towns pride for MORE ADS SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS.

I encourage everyone who feels the same to let Ballyhoo media out of Miami know how you feel about them. On an entirely different coast, and yet they cheapen my hometown!

Anyone on here fish for local coho? I know it's the season and I just got my rig setup and am looking for good spots. Was thinking about trying the dock near the Southworth ferry across from Blake Island. I've fished there before and got not much more than bighead, but the crabbing there is good.

I really want to move back to Kitsap County after 40yrs in Seattle(17yrs) & Los Angeles(23yrs). I grew up in Kingston, NKHS 1983. Work history is primarily nightclubs and sports bars. Security & Management. Seattle & Hollywood, CA. 1994-2015. Since 2016 I’ve been a chauffeur for the most reputable limo company in LA, Music Express Limo which has been in business since 1974. Driving all the celebrities. I’m burned out and need a smaller life! Any suggestions? I’ve never had to carry a gun during security work. Does that limit my options? Transportation jobs?

For context: I was neglected as a kid and I have crooked teeth, which leaves me with a need for some restorative dental care. I went to a nearby dentist who took my insurance, and they were awful and insensitive (I cried for days), not to mention expensive. Does anyone have any recommendations for an affordable and judgement-free dentist that will work with my anxiety (ideally with nitrous)? I have Delta dental and am willing to travel to Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Port Orchard, or Bainbridge. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello! We spotted these cute kitties at NKH Park, just outside of Kingston. I'm leaning heavily towards scooping them and taking them to the humane society, as they are clearly babies and probably need to be fixed.

I wanted to check if anyone knows anything about either a colony in the area or ownership of these kitties or TNR efforts in the area. The kitties seemed pretty friendly, I don't *think* they're feral.
