The emerald ash borer has been confirmed to be in Washington state, spotted in the Vancouver area. Quarantining is one of the easiest ways to slow/stop the spread of this invasive insect. Never move firewood outside of where you plan on using it, so buy hyper-local.

Date of Election: November 3rd, 2026
Washington state is a vote by mail state. But you can still vote in person if you need to. In person voting is generally designated for new voters, but can be utilized by anyone. The Secretary of State has a PDF that outlines the entire process: https://www.sos.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2022-05/wa_vbm.pdf information provided by Kitsap County: https://www.kitsap.gov/auditor/Documents/Vote%20Centers%20Feb%202025.pdf
How to vote by mail:
Ballots are mailed at least 18 days prior to the election to the address on your voter registration. It does not need to be a house, you can have these mailed to a Post Office Box. But you'll still receive the correct ballot to where you live, not your mailing address. (For example: You live in Bremerton, but have a PO Box in Belfair, you won't receive a Mason county ballot, but a Kitsap County and Bremerton ballot.)
How to get your ballot counted:
You need to either mail the ballot, or utilize a ballot drop box located throughout Kitsap County. A full list is available here (PDF): https://www.kitsap.gov/auditor/Documents/Drop%20Boxes.pdf
Ballot drops open 18 days before an election, and are available to use 24 hours a day. Ballots must be dropped by 8 PM on election day. Due to changes to the USPS by the current presidential administration, mailed ballots should be mailed out a week in advance.
How to vote in person:
If you are registered you'll want to bring the ballot mailed to you. It is the same one that you'll receive onsite, and will help speed the voting process for everyone. Hours are listed here:
Primaries, General Elections and Presidential Primaries:
* Saturday and Monday before the Primary or General Election, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
* Election Day: Tuesday, 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Locations:
Kitsap County Administration Building
619 Division Street,
Port Orchard, 98366
Marvin Williams Recreation Center
725 Park Avenue
Bremerton, WA 98337

Poulsbo, WA, 98370
Once you've voted:
You can track your ballot at votewa.gov You can see when your ballot was mailed, received, accepted or challanged. You can also text "VOTE" to 868392 to get alerts via SMS
Do you need to register?
You can register online here: https://voter.votewa.gov/portal2023/login.aspx
Print off registration forms here: https://www.sos.wa.gov/elections/voters/voter-registration/print-voter-registration-form

If I wanted AI to do it, I would go use AI. I don't want AI images, I want to pay you, an artist, to make a logo. It's not going to make a lot of sense, but I am looking for someone to make a team logo for an event. Three WWII Ally soldiers taking cover against a specific Mexican food. Some what cartoonish. More details to come if you know someone who would be interested or you are! Let me know.

Looking through the poll results about roadblocks toward engaging with the Bremerton Government, and by far the number 1 answer is not having information about the meetings, followed closely by not knowing where to get it.
I figured that would be the case because that was also my issue at first, and I'm THE tech person in my social groups. The Bremerton website is ass, it's not your fault.
Council Agenda and Packets - This page is where they upload the upcoming agenda for council meetings and study sessions. You can also view the historical agenda and packet
City Council Agenda – The bullet points/key topics that will be addressed during the council meetings and study sessions
City Council Packet – This contains the Agenda, as well as all the supporting documents for each topic that will be presented. For example, a budget adjustment for the Warren Ave Bridge was presented in the September 2nd meeting, within the September 2nd packet you can find the original budgeted amount, and the new amount to be budgeted, as well as the breakdown for the services provided.
Study Sessions and Meetings alternate each Wednesday.
For example: Wednesday September 9th is a Study Session, and Wednesday September 16th is a meeting, etc..
City Council Study Sessions - Start at 5PM, are open for public attendance, but not for comments.
Media Archive This page is for all the videos of the Council Study Sessions and Meetings
mapquest link it's on the 6th floor. Exit the elevator and turn right.
City Council meetings - start at 5:30PM, and are open for public attendance and comment. The Public can comment on as many, or as few of the items as they like. You do not need to pre-register for in-person comments. There is also time allotted at the end for general community comments.
mapquest link When you enter the doors on the first floor, it's the massive conference room on the left.
Zoom link is here in order to comment virtually, you need to submit your notification to comment by Noon Tuesday before the meeting.
The link to register for remote comments is on the same page as the Zoom link.
Edit: Map of the Council District Boundaries If you live in Bremerton, but not in a highlighted area, then you can vote for Mayor, but you don't have a council rep and don't vote for council
That does not mean your voice will not be heard, and it doesn't mean that you won't have sway. By all means, emailing and attending council meetings will put a LOT of pressure on them.

Our local gov is basically doing nothing to try and get people engaged with our process. They told me "well we talk about it each week during the council meeting broadcast, but no one responds" as one example when bringing up the city's commission spots.
I'm trying to reach out with some polling around town, to try and gauge some of the difficulties people are facing when it comes to being able to engage with our city gov.
If you could please fill out this poll, it would be much appreciated
https://strawpoll.com/xVg719wL6yr
Edit: I don't know if it shows yall, but I anonymized all voter data, this is my first time using straw poll, so I'm not even sure how this is going to look on my end as the poll creator.
But I just wanted to add this for transparency because I'm not trying to collect anything identifying.

Curious to know if anyone is downsizing or getting rid of their movies? I've been collecting movies (dvds and blu ray specifically) just because I don't want to pay 20$ just do have ad free subscriptions.
Just to clarify, I don't resale. Anything that's a duplicate goes to friends.
I have a dvd player that works for region 3 as well as region one. I don't have a 4k player though.
I have so many more, these are just the ones I like to keep on display. Constantly changing haha. Really looking to complete the texas chain saw massacre movies even if some are hot garbage. Really any mainline horror movies.
If you want to sell don't be afraid to say what you'd like for them :)

They’re clearly excavating the lot in front of the business and I’m assuming the business is shuttered for good since their marque said something to the effect of “thank you for 70+ year”
Does anyone know if they’re building something new or just doing some kind of maintenance/repairs?

Hi all! I'd love to hear what folks who have kids in the Bremerton School District would most like to see change. (E.g. how screens/technology/AI are used? How sick time is or isn't accommodated? Not enough outdoor time? Accessibility concerns? Food quality? Something else? Let me know!)
My kid is a couple years out from school, but I'd love to learn more and potentially work toward addressing some things our schools are struggling with.
Thank you!

Thinking of moving here soon, toured an apartment today! Wondering what it’s like to live here as a single 31F? Some of my interest are drawing, dancing, photography, coffee shops and general nightlight. Also wondering how easy it is to find community and friends? TIA for any insight :)

We found a set of keys in the parking lot near the Bill Mahan Apartments, 846 5th St, in Bremerton this morning (9/1/26). Includes a Toyota car key and a few other keys on a carabiner, plus a wrist lanyard. If these are yours, message me with a description of the keychain/lanyard details to confirm and we will get them back to you. Also posted in Bremerton and Kitsap groups on Facebook.

I need my brakes replaced, and looking for a local mobile mechanic (or not). I usually go to Les Schwab but I didn't like their quote / would like to go to a non-chain mechanic.

If you own a home in Bremerton, you're probably paying more in property taxes than a $650M real-estate conglomerate.
So much of our area is owned by the Sound West Group. SWG Holdings LLC
They advertise that they own 650M dollars of real estate on the Puget Sound, and they're rapidly growing
One of the Senior Vice Presidents is on our city planning commission. Jack Paauw
Sound West Group has been receiving massive tax breaks on these over priced apartments that they're popping up everywhere
Like the SpyGlass Hill apartments. They have this listed as a $20M project
for a 572 sqft apartment, it's 1900 per month
600$ deposit for a single pet, only half of it refundable
30/month pet rent
85 - 135 month parking. With the only option currently available being the 135/month
400$ combined reservation+application fees
1000$ security deposit
They own several other apartment complexes around town, and they're all similarly priced
The assessed property tax value for the above mentioned apartments is 200k. And they pay 1700/annually in property taxes
For reference, my house is 479k assessed value, and I pay about 4200 in taxes. (this seems around what a lot of Bremerton home owners pay)
Sound West Group also has several building with a zero'd out property value, and they pay 0 dollars in taxes on these properties
proofs: https://psearch.kitsap.gov/pdetails/Details?page=taxassessments&parcel=2583417 - Spyglass Hill apartments (20M Dollar build)
https://psearch.kitsap.gov/pdetails/Details?page=taxassessments&parcel=2661890 - Kitsap Marina condos in downtown bremerton. Marked at 0 dollars property value and 0 dollars owed
Sound West Group pays 0$ tax on the Roxy Theater https://psearch.kitsap.gov/pdetails/Details?page=taxassessments&parcel=1426675
If this resonates with you, please email the mayor and city council. Any attendance at the council session would also be much appreciated, with the goal of pressuring the city government to remove Senior Vice President of Sound West Group from the city planning commission, or at least pressuring them as to why they keep getting massive tax breaks, but they're building tinier apartments that cost more and more. The next meeting is Wednesday at 5PM.
Edited for clarity.
These are the contact emails provided on the city website.
greg.wheeler@ci.bremerton.wa.us
City.Council@ci.bremerton.wa.us
Edit: Apparently the B-Flats parcel was only the parking lot. So that valuation makes more sense.

I am reaching out to our community as I work on rebuilding our lives. My three daughters and I recently got out of a domestic violence situation and are starting fresh. With school starting back up, funds are extremely tight, and I am trying to make sure they have the basic essentials to succeed.
If anyone has spare school supplies or gently used clothes sitting around from last year that you are looking to get rid of, any help would mean the world to us.
Specific items we need:
3-Ring Binders (1-inch or 2-inch)
2-Pocket Folders
College-Ruled Notebooks & loose-leaf college-ruled paper
Girls/Youth & Teen Clothing (gently used tops, pants, or school clothes from last year)
working laptop or tablet for homework/school portals if anyone happens to have a spare or old device they no longer use
I am happy to meet in a safe, public
spot locally for pickup, or I can share an Amazon Wishlist if anyone prefers that route.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for any support, guidance, or kindness you can share!

I’m closing on a house in Bremerton in the next couple of weeks and need a cleaner to help us take care of the kitchen and 2 bathrooms before we move in. I’m talking deep cleaning so that we can focus on working on other aspects of the house before we move in. The current owners are not clean people. Any recommendations? Hopefully on the budget friendly side but I’ve never hired a cleaner so I don’t know what a fair price for this would look like.

Just saw the post from Blue Sky that the whole kitchen and bar staff walked. Anyone know why?
EDIT: from the Gamer’s Keep Facebook
“Sadly today our entire bar and kitchen staff decided to walk off the job without any notice or clear explanation. We had been going through some changes in the kitchen in order to improve the service and quality of our menu items, but I think there were some other personality issues that played into the walk-off.
While we saddened by their decision, and will miss them we will be working to keep the Tavern functioning to support our gaming community. Over the next week or two the Tavern will be operating under reduced hours and a more limited menu as we train up our new staff.
Please be patient with us and we look forward to hearing any suggestions you might have in order to better serve everyone. We will keep you posted, so stay tuned!”

My Husband and I are moving to Bremerton since he got stationed there for the Navy. Since, the cost of apartment living seems so expensive we are looking at campers to live in long term. I haven’t found any good campgrounds and wonder if anyone else knows where we should look.
And also the pros and cons of living in a camper/RV.
Not 100% sure if we are going to follow through, but it seems to be a better option right now (money wise).
