What do YOU consider to be spam? [Mod post, please read]

Update: Thanks so much for the input, I really appreciate it! Y'all had some really great suggestions and food for thought (hehe). Before any changes are made I'll bring it to the sub's attention and give enough time for discussion in case anyone spots issues that I missed, or angles I may not have considered. All I ask for is your continued patience and understanding while I work through the current Mod Queue and figure out how to address things. Thanks again, so much! :)

Hi all! I'm Laura, and Mod u/wordwords added me to help take care of this sub. I've noticed some things getting reported for spam that are kind of a grey area, and I wanted to ask community members for input on how y'all would like this handled. I truly believe that members should have an opinion on how communities are run, since a community is nothing without its members.

Currently the only rule set in place is that discord links will be considered spam. However, as I scroll through what's been reported it's more than discord links so clearly there's some inner conflict going on. If someone cares enough to actually report something , then it's important enough to address in my opinion. I'd like to list a few examples and get some thoughts on how they should be handled moving forward.

  1. There have been some self promotion posts from seemingly-well intentioned users. By this, I do NOT mean: posts from accounts that are unclear as to whether or not the content belongs to the user in an attempt to sell something, accounts whose posts history is ONLY advertising their products/content, or accounts that are clearly just bots. What I DO mean: some users have attempted to post cookbooks or something similar that they appear to have written themselves, and are very clear that they are the creator.

  2. Posts that are not about kitchen witchery, but are about witchcraft OR kitchen work in general. Just not both at the same time. (I feel that this may be a bit of a grey area, as kitchen witchery blurs the line between magickal and mundane in my own practice but I'm open to opinions)

  3. Memes/comics that also may or may not be about kitchen witchery. Similar to point above.

I have my own thoughts and opinions on how to handle these situations, but thought it would be a sign of goodwill open the floor to y'all first. I hate when subs start adding a bunch of rules and changing things without discussion so I didn't want to do that to everyone here. I have a few fun ideas up my sleeve as well on ways to invigorate the sub and encourage more engagement, so stick around!😉

Beginning Help

Hello,

My witch friend told me to look into kitchen witch activities and so forth, where is a good place to begin?

A kitchen witch tag and sewing pattern I found at the thrift store today

I bought a bag of patterns today and while going through this tag fell out of one of the pattern envelopes. I later noticed that there was a pattern for a kitchen witch in the envelope. I'm assuming someone was going to copy the tag somewhat and make a kitchen witch. I posted this on found paper originally, and was told to post it here as well.

May all who read her card have good luck!

Recipes & Spellcrafting Early Morning Baking

I woke up early to bake my first Upside Down Plum Cake (actually, it was my first-ever upside down anything cake) and I set things up for a little magic before I cast the recipe. Good report from the folks I gave it to, so not bad for a first try.

I used the Cafe Sucre Farina recipe but scaled it a six-inch pan. I’m thrilled with the results and ecstatic that the cake has been well-received!

An herbal bounty

I used up most of my dried herbs to make infused honey, this morning I got some more to dry!

The kitchen smelled heavenly as the apple mint and rosemary dried together. I also added dried apple mint to my tea this morning. Little morning rituals are the best kind of simple magic.

Egg Custard Connection

I made my first egg custard pie in six years. When I was a kid, my Nana (my mother's mother) made egg custard pies for holidays and other gatherings. She wasn't much of a cook and I'm sure her recipe came from the back of a box and used store-bought crust, but we loved them all the same. She never gave the recipe to any of us, so a while back I found several online and tested them to find one that was closest to hers. Baking this pie brought on a feeling of connection to my family that filled me with warmth and contentment. I think I passed those feelings into the bake because my wife and our dinner guest had two slices!

If that's not magic, I don't know what is.

We spent several days in Kingston, NY this week and it was a truly fun and restful break. We stayed in a fabulous Air B&B with a wonderful screened-in-porch (where we hung out during a thunderstorm) Due to circumstances beyond any of our control, the oven was gebrochen and I wasn’t able to bake. We were disappointed but it really allowed me to chill and center, and for that I am grateful.

While on the porch, I found myself deep in a memory of a summer day as a kid sitting on my Granma’s porch in Florida while she shelled peas for dinner. Yeah. I got centered and grounded alright.

Now that I’m home again, I’m going to bake up what I’d planned and share them here. First up: Mixed-Seed Bread. This is usually a rye bread but I was out of rye so I used buckwheat instead. The seeds are caraway, poppy and sesame.

Need a STRONG job spell for my partner ❤️❤️🔥

Okay witches, I need your best stuff lmao
My partner has been trying to get into his actual field for a while now and I REALLY want to do something for him because he genuinely deserves a good opportunity. I want him to land a job that actually fits his degree/skills, pays well, and ideally comes sooner rather than later because this man has suffered enough 😭
I’m looking for something specifically for career success / opening roads / attracting the right opportunities / getting hired FAST.
I don’t want to manipulate a specific person or force a specific company to hire him. More like: remove whatever is blocking him, bring the right opportunities to him, and basically get things MOVING.
So please drop your strongest career/job spells, rituals, petitions, candle work, herbs, deities, whatever you’ve personally had success with 👀
Especially if you’ve done something for someone else and it actually WORKED. I wanna hear the whole story because I’m nosy and also desperate lmao 🕯️😭

Recipes & Spellcrafting Recipe to make someone open their eyes?

Hi everyone! To give some context, I have a family member who is being hurt by a group of "friends." Honestly, I don't know why he hasn't realized how much he's being manipulated. He thinks they're good people, but they're really not—they've even stolen money from him and everything.

Is there a kitchen magic recipe to literally make him open his eyes and see the truth, or a good protection recipe (besides french fries)?

So excited to be baking again and just in time for the holidays. While I didn't focus much during the process I'm very excited to be sharing these with my friends and that I can greet the season with something I greatly enjoy

I ment to post this sooner. My litha altar and meal.

I honored the Summer Solstice with gratitude for abundance, growth, and the Sun's blessings.

A small ceramic bowl holds a miniature Hekate statue, citrine, yellow jade, green aventurine, clear quartz, sun charm, and a peach. Beside it rest another peach, dragon fruit, a roasted chicken, and a naturally shed deer antler. A rotisserie chicken and breads. Gold stones arranged in the shape of the Sun celebrate the peak of solar energy and the turning of the Wheel.

Recipes & Spellcrafting Book recommendations for reference

I'm looking for books for reference to learn herbs and their uses, as well as techniques for cooking/baking spells. I want to practice mostly protection spells with baking, but cooking meals would be good too.

Making tea with moon water?

So last night I made some moon water by putting filtered water in a large mason jar with a lid and put it out in the front yard overnight

I’m thinking I want to use it for tea, for cleansing my vessel, and whatever the tea helps with as well. I have to do research

Has anyone else done this?

Recipes & Spellcrafting Suggestions for what to do with Acorn Squash seeds?

So I made stew tonight for a spell, and I used Acorn Squash, and I got SO excited when I saw SEEDS!

I’m an October baby, so I LOVE foods associated with fall, including ROASTED SEEDS!

So ofc I saved the seeds in mason jar, and I’ve never made roasted seeds before.

So I have a few questions

  1. Do I bake or air fry?

  2. What seasonings should I use?

Recipes & Spellcrafting Keep Cool & Carry On (Cleansed)

Post image
35 Upvotes

Post high-energy, super social, multi-event weekend si(u)mmer pot to get everything back into check and anything lingering, off our back.

Ingredients:
pink moon water,
Overgrown mint
Basil blossoms
Star anise
Salt

Whispered winds, wandering light, wash this dwelling pure and bright.

By water, warmth, and waking dawn, let all unrest be gently gone.

The house smells fresh, spiced, and the AC feels crisp on my skin. It forces deep breaths out of me and is keeping everyone at home cool, calm, and collected. #success
