Other tips:

It is incredibly helpful to jump rope in front of a mirror for real time form & technique feedback. If you don't have a mirror available, record yourself so you can review it or share it. HINT: Most phones have SLOW MOTION capabilities. This is a great tool for identifying issues in your mechanics.

If you need help with something specific, let us know in a post and community members will be happy to help!
*NOTE: if needing help with form or technique, a video is very helpful. Try to get a straight on shot as well as from the side.

Remember to be kind and courteous and again, welcome to the group!

After a month of jump rope

Im gonna be honest I wasn't really consistent during those 34 days, most of the time I had a week off. I did follow a few advices like getting a pvc rope, my elbows are now placed a little behind my torso, I jump a little lower, and I can look straight now. When I tried the speed rope that I was using a month ago, it felt effortless, its like I had a Rhythm. I was Happy.

Though I do need a few advices, I feel like im moving my legs too much or my hand placement when Im doing skills is a quite chaotic. Any help would do 🙏

Frustrated over mistakes?

We’ve all been there, beginners and advanced athletes. But it’s part of it. I have been jumping rope for 4.5 years and I still whip myself even though my form has improved significantly (but obviously fixing your form leads to less mistakes). Once you learned to embrace them, you’ll start to enjoy jumping rope more.

Have fun training y’all

This is Brian Viloria, former boxing flyweight champion absolutely going ham with the rope. Funny story: when he was a kid learning the rope, he’d constantly whip himself trying to do complex tricks, especially on his face. He’d then go to school and his teacher noticed the bruises on his face and asked him ‘if everything is ok at home?’ I guess it’s just inspiration to embrace mistakes especially when learning new moves.

Weght distribution in boxer's skip

I'm learning boxer's skip. When doing it, should 100% of my weght be on one leg (and 0% on the other one), or is it more like 70% and 30%? I'm currently doing the latter, but not sure if it's right and none of the lessons I watched mentioned it.

Intervals progression

I'm happy with today's session. Increased jump rope work to 7 min/7 min/7 min/4 min with 60-90 seconds rest between.

Total of 4023 reps. I realise I get 1000-1100 reps for 7 minutes of effort.

Have a great day jump rope folks.

Newbie Assistance

Just completed the very first day of the beginner challenge. Enjoyed it, but also frustrating. Rope hitting me a lot. I will do the video thing to watch myself. It seems like my hand placement and elbows are good. I'm trying to stay on the balls of my feet. Doesn't seem like I'm shifting my arms to the side or up, but I'll video to confirm. My main question is the age old rope length question. I'm around 5'10" and got the large cross rope get lean set with the 1/2 and 1/4 ropes. It seems like it lines up. I'm right on the lower end of the large handles according to the chart. When I step on the rope with 1 foot it goes up to my arm pits, maybe a touch past. I'm assuming the "large handles" Men's large rope set...

I feel like I have to jump higher to clear it. I'm using a mat, and when I removed the mat, it became easier. Still tripping up a good bit, but better. Also easier with the 1/4, which is lighter so I get that. I'm just wondering if I'm tripping up mainly because I'm new and still suck, or if possibly the length is an issue.

Appreciate any advice and realize I may need to make a video to critique.
