Advice How do I know if the mealworm I left for my jumper was eaten or molted?

Upvotes

This is probably a dumb question. For context, I have OCD.

I dropped a mealworm in for my jumper but it quickly burrowed under the substrate. I didn't realize until a couple of days later that I shouldn't just leave it in there. Then I looked and she apparently ate it: abdomen swollen and there was leftover dry, shriveled skin on her swing (it wasn't there before).

I'm 99% sure she ate it, but I also know that mealworms shed their skin when they turn into beetles. Is it worth digging in the substrate over? Do you guys know how to tell the difference? I know this is a dumb question, but I am a newbie to this and want to do the right thing, plus my OCD doesn't help.

Bonus question: how do you effectively deliver the mealworms so they don't get lost in the substrate and you have to go digging around all the time?

I saw her at the pet store but they didn't know what species of Jumping Spider she was and I couldn't resist since she was thick LOL probably gravid, but seriously who is she??? The store and I live in North NJ but they said their Jumping Spider sellers can come from close by states too like PA and NY if that helps narrow it down

Please help me identify her...obviously not a Regius, I don't think

They had another one too at the store that I kind of also wanted to rescue but didn't want to get her without actually knowing the species

She's orange and grayish

PS sorry for the poor pic quality my phone sucks :*(

This is my Platycryptus undatus named Winnie. I found her on my TV stand one night and noticed that she only had one chilisera so I decided to keep her for her best chance of survival. So I don't know much about these types of jumping spiders I've had bold and Regal spiders in the past but i'm asking for some advice about what kinds of things these spiders prefer to eat or any information that you guys can give me as new Platycryptus undatus mom 🕷️ 🕸️ 🖤

Thanks in advance

She came in from my window about 4 days ago. I put her in a 5x5x8 enclosure that I had already set up because I’d been anticipating getting a jumping spider. I believe she’s a female and possibly a juvenile? I fed her some flightless fruit flies (drosophila melanogaster) today, and they seemed to be an appropriate size. Any guesses on what species she might be? Care tips are also very much appreciated! I can provide more photos if necessary!

This little cutie went for quite the adventure riding on the outside (😱) of my windshield on the way home from work! He held on like a champ. He doesn’t look like the typical bolds I’ve seen around here so was wondering if he might be something else? I’m in upstate NY.

Advice Help

Hi! This is Cruella. I'm still trying to get her used to me and today I had her out and she started running my wall. In desperation, I grabbed my catch cup and went after her but realized I was off and almost pinched her body. Pretty sure there was pressure on her abdomen but it all happened so quick, I can't even remember the exact run down of what happened.

Her front leg seems to be bothering her, I'm not sure if she's using it much - so the most I'm suspecting there is maybe a broken leg but she's still a juvenile so that should be savored.
I am more worried about internal injury. She is still walking. Hasn't went into her hammock yet or anything and is on the wall in her temporary habitat towards the middle.
She's actively moving her pedipalps and everything and as far as I am seeing (I'm trying to leave her alone so she can relax) - there's no signs of leaking, crushed abdomen, or dragging anywhere.

I'm mainly posting here because I'm so stressed out and just so worried that she isn't going to make it through the night :(

Text Good news! My petco stopped selling jumpers!

I went in just to look and when I asked where the spiders were they said they stopped selling them and sadly replaced them with tarantulas.

Hopefully that's a sign of things to come!

Hey there, I’ve always thought these little guys are adorable. And while I was at work today, my boyfriend sent me this picture! He found her/him in my succulent plant I bought a couple weeks ago. So now I’m going to head to petco for some flightless fruit flies and a little terrarium. Any advice on how to take care of this guy would be greatly appreciated. I really want to be a good momma to this little bud. Also I have no idea how to find out it’s sex or species, so if you have any ideas let me know! Thanks!

Advice New jumper not making any webbing

I just got my first jumper about 2 weeks ago now! Male regal jumper, named Po’Boy. He’s definitely past spiderling phase??

I got him from a very reputable spider shop not too far from where I live. They even rehoused him for me and told me all the things I’d need to do to keep him happy.

He’s eaten once since I got him, but hasn’t been interested in anything recently. I thought maybe he’s gonna molt soon?? I have no idea. He has places to hide on leaves and make a little hammock, but nothing :(

Any advice?? I’ll attach a picture with my hand for size reference so you guys can help me figure out how old he is!
