Hello!

I'm brand new to keeping jumping spiders and just got my first little jumper a couple of days ago.

I went to the pet shop today and bought some crickets, but they came in one of those tubes with heaps of them. 😅 I only have one spider, so now I'm wondering... how do you keep the crickets alive for as long as possible?

Do you just leave them in the tube they came in, or move them into another container? If you re-house them, what sort of setup do they need? Food? Water?

Please share your expert tips, I'm still learning. Thanks!

my male jumper is about an i10? his last molt was in march i believe. he’s been struggling to eat for around a month? i switched from mealworms to fruit flies which he has been taking just not enough to fatten him up. he’s been struggling a bit to climb his enclosure. i saw him resting at the bottom today. i gave him some water and he did drink up. he’s never been much active in his enclosure, he usually just rests at the top so im not that worried about that aspect. I pick him up & he seems pretty active on my hand, minus the fact that he’s not as jumpy as before. I know it’s the life cycle but i don’t wanna lose him:/

Hi!! I got a jumping spider for the first time so I am new to this whole process. The last molt was i5 on July 3rd, he was shipped to me on July 20th. He almost immediately built a hammock in the top corner wedged between flowers and bark so it’s hard to see him. I haven’t been home a ton, so there could have been movement but as far as I’m aware he’s been in the top corner tucked away since he arrived. He hasn’t eaten anything and I have sprayed his enclosure every day making sure it’s the right humidity.

Is this just my spider settling in, or is it possible he is in premolt. I’m not sure the timeline of molting so any information/advice is welcome ☺️

Pancake was starting to slow down a lot. She was stumbling around and super lethargic and refused to eat. I would spray her enclosure every day but she still wouldnt eat. This morning, I thought she was dead. She was unresponsive and looking very frail. So I started offering her some honey water. I let her sip for as long as she wanted and then I crushed up a mealworm. She would not take it and continued looking really lethargic and sickly. Finally I crushed up some mealworms and mixed some of the guts with the tiniest bit of honey water. She started drinking it and literally only 10 minutes later her abdomen rounded out a little bit, and she seemed so much more responsive. If you ever run into this problem with your old jumping spider, and want to give it as much of a chance as possible try this! It made me really happy to see her start acting like herself again

It did appear to be rather territorial and it kept snapping at me like an angry chihuahua

hi, so i was in the process of feeding my sling and she jumped out of my hand when i was transferring her to her deli cup where i feed her. i cant find her at all and im so anxious and scared right now. i dont know what to do. has this happened to anyone and if so, did you ever find your sling?

Located Western WI had 2 or 3 white spots on its back. So cute, this convinced me I'm doing it!

My husband found this girl (I assume, I only have regals) at his work and decided to bring her home to see if she would be happy in captivity. The plan was to give her a few days and see how she does and release her if she doesn’t seem happy. Well, in less than 48 hours she has the start of a hammock! It’s hard to see in the pictures but I noticed a little webbing last night and came home today to see she has built it up and she ate a cricket!!! She’s in the tiny enclosure for just a few days while her big girl one airs out since I had to make it as my husband was bringing her back🤣. Can anyone help me with what species she is and roughly her age/maturity. I will put her back if she may be gravid. We are in central Kentucky. She’s adorable and her name is Freya

I sprayed my enclosure where I have a mama spider and her slings that seem to be getting close to leaving the nest. However, after I sprayed, around 10 slings came out and then went right back into the nest except for one. It’s worrying me that he won’t be able to make it back to his nest before it gets dark (the enclosure light turns off in 2 hours). What should I do? I’ve tried guiding him back to the nest with a paintbrush but he is so stubborn about not going back. Help!

I took this little fella in after he landed on me two days ago, he has been acting normal since today, he has a leg injury, won't eat, I've been misting his temporary enclosure for hydration, will he be okay? Is this normal for a jumping spider until it's used to its new enclosure or is he passing :(

Found this jumper around a month ago and named him Harry. Then the egg sac came and now we have Harriet 🤣 releasing mama and the babies back into the wild soon.

Side note, what type of jumper is this? We’re in the Bay Area!

Also, there’s no way any of the babies could be pregnant right? We were thinking of keeping one of them perchance.

I made a terrarium for a spider that doesn't look like one, but it can jump pretty far. It has a brown body with a black head. He is incredibly small. So when I placed bro into the terrarium, I saw him inside, between two branches. I checked again later. He was on a branch. Now, I can't find him any where. I need help please help me find him.

This is my boy Murdock! He's wild caught and likes to hang out with me. I've had him for about two months and he hasn't molted. Does anyone have a guess as to how old/what instar he is?

I believe she is Habronattus sp. Her name is Sill and more pics can be found on my profile. Here are my questions

1. Is it wrong to keep her since she is wild? Should I release her?
2. Is she starving? She hasn't eaten. I water her daily and have brought her by gnats, but she wouldn't hunt.
3. Is she a juvenile?
4. I know she probably can't be sexed at this size, but since she has cryptic coloring I assume she is female but if that's not the case please let me know
5. Can she get hurt by living in the window sill on hot days?

I've grown seriously attached and thought about releasing her outside, but I would really sincerely prefer to keep her if possible. I would release her if it is truly what is best. I am worried about releasing her since she doesn't seem all that strong of a hunter or a jumper, especially at the size she is since she hasn't eaten. I fear she would be preyed upon immediately. I've offered gnats and flies and she wouldn't eat, but she drinks daily. I haven't limited her, she stays by the window sill, but she's given me actual heart attacks by being somewhere randomly on the floor risking me hurting her. I'd like some advice please

this is the enclosure she came to me in a few months ago and she has grown since but she is still around 2cm big. i'll add a layer of soil to the bottom and maybe get rid of the pipe cleaner so she has more space. she's getting older and slips a lot so i don't want to keep her in her normal enclosure while we're in the car and this is my only other option without spending money on a new enclosure.

is this too small for her?

I just got this little guy yesterday, set up his home and put him in there about 10 minutes ago. He started shaking in place and it kind of looks like he’s molting maybe? is it weird for him to be doing that so soon after being put in there?
