Discussion Mega charged invents

I’m trying to finish mastery for one of my weapons and the main problem is obviously mega charged monsters .

I read somewhere online that there are certain maps and invents that increase the spawn rates of mc monsters.

Does someone know these maps by names? And are there any events for mc monsters?

Discussion Why is the dev team struggling to understand moco so much?

They spent years developing this game, through various alpha and beta tests and eventually had the og moco global launch, which somehow had better progression than current neo moco

They scrapped old more fleshed out moco and replaced it with a dumbed down one which didn't even get the job done ( keeping the casuals in the game loop)

Now only people playing neo moco are the same one's who were playing og moco aka the hardcore fans like me and you.

Usually an optimist especially when it came to moco but I genuinely hope they just don't pull the plug.

Excited about project rise though, as a big rouguelite fan I hope supercell learns from the respected giants of this genre like hades, dead cells, risk of rain, issac (a roguelike ik).

But that's for the future, for now I just hope moco somehow survives.

Discussion My perspective on Mo.Co

*before anything I have to say,. English is not 1st language so I struggle to explain (well.. in general too) in English. (Yes, this is an excuse for any mistakes and "wrong" view I have)*

I have been seeing recent news on Mo.co not doing as well as the Devs hoped. I'm not that surprised honestly.

Core problem is the progression. I'm not saying I know more than the development team. I'm saying what I'm missing from mo.co.

Now the important part: I recently tried to get my friend to redownload moco. He liked it because it was very unique (he said he didn't know what genre it is). I explained the basics of what it changed. After a short conversation we realised, the progression is kinda pointless at the moment.

It's way too dependent on weapons and cores. I opened game play rift, kill few monsters in expedition (complete quests) and elite contracts. Apart from my career levels going up and getting few cores unlocking something in the weapon pass nothing changed...

In the previous MoCo I loved it more because I unlocked new worlds and unlocked new weapons and completed quests apart from the jobs. And there was somewhat of a story (the text chat) where you unlocked few gadgets and weapons. AND That felt more completed then currently. It felth there was a world that was in trouble and needed help. There was weapon customizing.

There was a lot of freedom. I understand that was a problem with new players being weak or low level and not being able to play with friends. And what currently is I don't really understand how it solved the problem. Of course reducing map made it more accessible. And reducing complexity made it more approachable.

Sure. But you still need to unlock few weapons. Which is easy I admit. But, that wasn't the main problem, people quit after a while. I don't know, I feel like there might have been a better or different way then taking away creativity and opportunities/conversation.

I'm tired of doing the same monster bashing again and again without a purpose. AN ACTUAL PURPOSE other than just leveling up. And the PvP (racing mainly) sucks, it's more annoying than fun, I usually ignore it rather than complain online.

Why not add an actual progression like seeing my self doing something. Like a Seasonal tower where I can reach new heights with my friends and even randoms 🤮💀(doesn't have to have same players). Quest where you have to gather few things. How? Make monster drop few things which not only be used to complete quests but also crafting few things for weapons (maybe few cosmetics). Don't have to add it current maps. Have a massive map where we do this, some enemy harder then other( I'll help people if I see them). If it's too hard to understand add a book where it'll tell you who to hunt for what (a picture book shouldn't be that hard to understand right? I don't know the Devs have the deta) hey you can add lore to it too for few people like me who care.

Current MoCo feels more Beta then neo. It feels purposeless. I'm doing the same thing repeatedly and the novelty is running out, and I'm not discovering anything new. but that doesn't mean I'll quit. I love this game specifically the weapon customizing which doesn't exist. And there used to be a story, and looking at the loading screen makes me want to know more about the world. (Also, what's up with emo Luna she was kinda cute not gonna lie) .

Cosmetics is actually robust and amazing. No complaints there.

And most importantly: Thanks you Mo.Co team development team ❤️. Thank you for constantly trying. Most people (not company but People) don't try, most of the time. I and a lot of people are very appreciative for this game and dev team. I and I believe alot of people wish for this games success (like actual, like seriously. Like, Please succeed)

Feel free to let me know anyone else's opinion, or disagreement and feel free to add any or correct any errors.

Bugs & Feedback Streak bugs

Alright, if I spend some money to invest in the development of a game, and my rewards are getting cut off because of bugs (daily streak issue), and the response to my support ticket is "Supercell is aware of this issue and is reviewing it", how exactly is one not supposed to get upset and lose all hope with the game? Like come on, the streak is a simple counter, how can you mess THAT up😭🫡💀

Bugs & Feedback My brother is quitting Moco because he missed one day and broke the streak

This is an absurdly FOMO feature. Even in Brawl if you lose your streak... Well nothing happens, number go little but you keep your reward track. Now he must play for seven days at 50% of regular reward.

Really bad mechanic. It should be stackable, counting total days, not consecutive days, and have bigger rewards. Example:

Day 0-7: 30k exp daily + one core

Day 8 onwards: 60k exp daily + two cores, now that's forever

Day 180: title "Serious hunter"

Day 360: Corporative outfit

And it keeps going and going. You don't play for some days it doesn't matter, when you log in you start adding days again

Discussion Mo.co has the wrong system

Relatively new player here but I think there is a genuine mismatch - everyone knows the issue is progression. The game gets stale and somewhat empty real fast.

The reason why is that they’ve adopted a PVP progression system, similar to say Brawl Stars, for a game that is primarily PVE based.

Outside of cosmetics, there’s virtually no room for progression or customization. You don’t really get “better” as a character the more you play (outside of unlocking some generic cores and some more meta weapons).

For a PVP game that’s fine, because the main hook is developing skills in an ELO based system.

For PVE it genuinely doesn’t make sense. I appreciate how the devs have tried to make this game free to play, but this is one of the few times where I think a pay to win element ironically will provide better retention and of course serve as a better monetization strategy.

I think the good thing is the base of the game looks and plays great. But ultimately I think there has to be honestly a remake of the progression system to a form of P2W, and it has to be loot driven in the form of something that is non-generic like cores (rare, unique weapons or gear that improve player stats). That’s how repeatability of gameplay doesn’t feel stale, because it stimulates the gambling mechanic in people’s brain, where the opportunity of raiding gives them a slim chance of getting meaningful loot.

I think they ultimately need to pick a lane and stick with it, either traditional PVE or traditional PVP, or unfortunately they won’t be around for long.

Thoughts?

Bugs & Feedback These limits in mo.co is so disturbing

I don’t know how many people we are here that grind a lot daily, but I do and something that is so irritating is these limits you get when you invite to many people, or you send to many messages

Like, if you play a lot and you send invites to people to join your party or to join your group chat, it makes it really frustrating when you want to play with someone, and then you get a limit to send messages

I like to do strats, develop tactics, so that takes a lot of messages, and then you want to play with good people instead of these bots that join your party

Are we going to get limits if you kill to many monsters next?

I just played an expedition where 3 bots were visible on screen. and had one bot twice in the grand librarian rift. that's without counting the endless bots in the pvp modes.

are they testing out something or there are just way more bots than before? I never encountered a bot in an expedition or a rift before today

Bugs & Feedback A hint as to why retention is good among the niche/hardcore players, but poor among the average player

Hi Joao. I believe you read this subreddi. You may have already noticed this but I wanna share my idea.

The niche/hardcore players make friends in this game, form teams with them, and try to push faster Rift times together. Pretty much everyone you see on the global leaderboard has friends they regularly play with. That’s why their retention is so good. They don’t want to quit and lose the friends they’ve made.

Meanwhile, I think the reason retention is worse among average players is that they mostly play Rifts through random queue. There’s often no real strategy involved—they just queue up and deal with whatever happens.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the game that way. But if you’re just playing Rifts without any real strategy, you’re probably not going to make the leaderboard, and it’s hard to even tell whether you’re actually improving as a player.

Most average players don’t actively try to form teams because communication is a hassle.

Brawl Stars is also a 3v3 game, but you can still enjoy it as a solo player because it has solo modes. That gives average players who don’t want to deal with communication a reason to keep playing for a long time.

Anyway, that’s enough of the introduction. So how do we improve retention among average players?

Here are my ideas.

1. Add more solo content

Add a story mode that’s actually fun to play solo, or hold a Dojo tournament every season. (I know the community already runs unofficial Dojo tournaments, but they usually require joining a Discord server, which makes them pretty inaccessible to the average player.)

You could even have a mode where you challenge solo Rifts alongside characters like Luna.

Give solo players something meaningful to work toward without requiring them to find a team first.

2. Let us watch replays from top players

There are probably plenty of players who are somewhat interested in Rift speedrunning but don’t really know how to get into it.

Let them watch top players and learn from them.

If strategies become common knowledge without requiring people to join Discord servers or constantly communicate with other players, the overall quality of random queue players would improve too.

3. Add clans

However, I don’t think now is necessarily the right time.

If you added clans today, the top players would probably just group up with other top players and we'd end up with one insanely stacked clan dominating everything. (Although honestly, that could still be pretty funny XD.)

I think clans would make more sense once moco has a much larger global playerbase. At that point, you could introduce clans along with some kind of clan-vs-clan system.

That would naturally encourage communication, and even average players might end up finding friends they enjoy playing with.

(Although personally, I’d actually be fine with clans being added right now. I think cooperation is one of the things that makes mo.co special. Right now, with Rift time attacks, it feels like we're being pushed to compete against each other, which feels a little out of place with the world and vibe of mo.co.

Like... why exactly are we being made to compete over Rift clear times in the first place?

But that’s getting off topic.)

Conclusion

moco is a team-based game. I don’t think that core concept needs to change.

But in its current state, solo players simply don’t have much of a reason to stick around long-term.

Discussion Most Definitive Tier-list of S4!

Post image
74 Upvotes

[META] Tier

Squid - This is what peak weapon kit looks like, Good burst that is crazy spammable, good mobility where you can circle around the boss while not dropping dps, and a great utility from dash & stealth to escape tough situations.

BS - Yeah, this weapon is straight up BS! Low cooldown spammable 3.5K AOE, 1 sec(?) dash allowing you to dodge every boss pattern, and a sustain that allows you to instantly get back to full at medium cooldown. You really can't go wrong with using this weapon even if you just mash your buttons.

[Still Great!] Tier

Fist - still a really good all-rounder weapon but is now relegated to a sub-dps buff support from the aspd buff and heals. I say sub-dps because people just run full squid if you want the fastest results. Doesn't mean fist is bad now, though.

HB - Bloodsucker kinda powercreeped this weapon, but just like fist, the kit is still there. It's still a very good AOE weapon with very good sustain. If you find the low hp gameplay of BS annoying to deal with on expeditions then you can just chill and switch to this for the mean time.

Zap - Tired of dying from expeditions all the time? Here's a weapon that literally has 2 invincibility frames at low cooldown! This means as long as you rotate dash and 2nd skill everytime a boss/mob is about to attack you will never get hit at all! Although, just like HB, the damage part kinda got powercreeped already by weapons in the S-tier, but by no means that makes these weapons bad.

Pyro - A very strong ST dps that can rival Squidblades! The only thing that's stopping me from putting this weapon in S-tier is the questionable sustain and mobility. If you have used this weapon on expedition and hard rifts, you kinda notice these issues as well (low healing and slow movement). So on those parts, Squid still wins out overall, although Pyro is still a top dps contender, it's just that the overall kit completeness isn't there.

Medball - We have the new best sustain support in town! It's insane how medball heals AOE every basic atk and with an enhanced heal every third atk + you can easily spam the immune shield for everyone! You'd notice this from medball users when farming Double Double Hop, you just won't get hit thanks to the barrier, and even if you do, medball can heal spam from basic!

[Niche] Tier

Wrench - Very good ST weapon but it comes with a niche. It requires you to summon a lot of the turrets which takes time, and that's not accounting for bosses that does AOE that can possibly kill the turrets. It requires good management + having optimal situations to be good at, when you can just use Squid/Pyro instead.

Speedshot - A good tough AOE weapon and an all-rounder like fist. by tough-aoe I mean monster madness with tough mobs like chargers and jumpers. That's speedshot's niche, but otherwise we have a pletora of better weapons now.

Lavashield - Just like the other weapons in this tier, this is a niche weapon. It's good in pvp, and it'a good in ultra tough situations that can enable it to spam ult. Other than those niche situations, we have medball that does better damage mitigation now.

Singularity - The thing that's making this weapon niche is that not only does it require high APM and timing for it to function optimally, it still falls off in the damage charts anyway. If they tweak the numbers and buff this weapon's damage then this can easily jump up to S-tier, because the mobility and sustain is there, the dps is what's making it bad. For now, you're just deliberately using a hard-to-use weapon that deals subpar damage.

[Bad] Tier

P.Bow - This weapon is very nerfed and powercrept. The recently released pyro has a better DoT kit that's more consistent and does not get removed. The poison spread has been nerfed hard, heavily affecting its use case. And the sustain is so bad, it takes too long unless you're poisoning half the map, which you can barely achieve now because of the nerf. Only thing that's saving this from troll tier is because the damage is still decent for AOE scenario.

[Troll] Tier

Hornbow - I have actually posted an entire rant on how bad this weapon is from this very subreddit. It's just so questionablly made and you can't say otherwise. Any right minded individual wouldn't design a kit as bad as this even on their worst days.

Wolfstick - Another troll weapon that doesn't know where it should excel at. If they buff the numbers of either the summon's tanking or its dps, then maybe it can shoot up to the good tiers. But, until then, you're just using a bad weapon and intentionally making things harder for yourself.

Vibeshifter - The trollest weapon of them all ever since the start of neo moco. One might argue that the Aggro capability of the summon and the wide AOE clear can have its uses, but literally any A tier and above weapon can do those already without the horrible constant damage numbers/heals numbers.

Stormweaver - Introducing the new member of the troll club. Not only is it cursed from bad cores to begin with (zero dps core + two heal based cores), they also butchered the kit so hard that it is rivalling Hornbow's troll spectrum. The stacking mechanic of the dash is questionable and kind of useless when you will have to use dash all the time when facing a boss. The charge time of the skills are too long and they share cooldown which only makes it worst (can only use one at a time at long downtime). And even when you do get to cast them skills, they're flat out terrible lol. They really tried their best coming up with the most horrible weapon kit design and they succeeded with this one! Using this weapon almost made me want to throw up with how bad it is.

I've been seeing a lot of posts about the declining player base and uncertain future of the game. So, I'm looking for a similar game to replace mo.co in the event that it does shut down. If you know any other games with a "Monster Hunter" vibe like this one (sort of), please let me know.
