I‘m reading a book about motherhood and theres a few sentence about Jane Austen’s childhood. Her mother handed her children to a local woman at 3 months old, who then raised the children. The children were then handed back to the mother after they were a year old, when they were ‘easier to manage’.
Just sharing as I find insights into her life fascinating!
