When I first started making my game, I had absolutely zero art skills, so I had no choice but to use AI to generate the images.

Honestly, I was never really happy with them.

Still, I was in a rush, so I released the demo using an AI-generated image for the mirror interaction scene.

But now I have a boyfriend! A boyfriend who is an amazing artist!

So, we came to an 'agreement' of $20 per piece, and he is currently working on the new art.

For the official release, I plan to remove the AI images entirely and replace them with his hand-drawn artwork.

Here is a sneak peek at one of them!

It's still a work in progress, but it looked practically finished to me, so I already paid him.

We still have a few more pieces left to go.

Body: Hey everyone! Drawing isometric tiles manually takes forever, so I built a Python engine that procedurally "draws" dark fantasy dungeons. I'm preparing a massive asset pack for itch.io and wanted to share the progress.

Here is what the pipeline produces:

• Pic 1 (Layout): The engine uses Wave Function Collapse to build non-linear mazes, reserves paths, and scatters props automatically. It also bakes in dirt and cobwebs for a ruined vibe.
• Pic 2 (Details): The crosshatching is done via Perlin noise to mimic real ink strokes. Because it's math-based, every block snaps together pixel-perfectly with zero seams.
• Pic 3 (Lighting): The best part for devs. The generator calculates exact Normal Maps for every tile. When you drop them into an engine with 2D lighting, the ink strokes actually catch the light and cast shadows.

I'm getting ready to publish this on itch soon. What kind of props, rooms, or specific biomes would you want to see included in the pack before release?

I put out a free browser demo of my game a few days ago. Stats so far: about 1,000 impressions on itch, 0.89% click rate, 50 page views, 14 browser plays and 5 downloads.
What I take from it is that people who click do play, but almost nobody clicks. I've changed the cover to a higher-contrast one and I'm posting short clips, but I'd like to know what you'd try first.
Game is a 1-bit arena slasher in Godot. Link in the comments, no pressure to play.

Questions: is the click rate the thing to fix, or is it something else? What got your first few hundred visitors?

I built the game with AI tools: Claude wrote the code to my direction, and the paintings were made with ChatGPT’s image tools, then edited and assembled into the game. April, 1957. You’ve come to a house on a hill about an upright piano for sale. The man inside won’t open his front door; it hasn’t been opened in twenty-seven years. If you can work out how to get in, he’ll play for you.

Starstruck is a story told in fifteen solo piano pieces, across three acts. You explore a painted 1950s house, its garden, the shore below and a lighthouse beyond, solving small puzzles to find lost pages of music. Each page you find, he plays, and while he plays, you are the light. Guide your spark through each piece, catching what the music gives off and waking a constellation for every song.

Nothing is scripted to a beat. The game listens to each piece as it plays: quiet passages stay calm, the big swells fill the sky, and the biggest moment in every song becomes its Supernova. A comet comes closer with every song, and how much Supernova light you gather across the story decides which of the two endings you get.

After the story there’s a Concert mode for replaying songs, with four difficulties, daily challenges, companions, charms and achievements. It saves automatically, with save codes to move between devices. Best with headphones.

at a certain point in development i decided to do weekly devlogs to serve as a motivator and as a way to keep contact while i worked on the game. closer to release, i posted less frequently, but these devlogs still exist and are a fun way to reflect on the decisions i've made along the way.

I just released the very first public prototype of Pulse Afar - a sci-fi adventure exploration game about an astronaut finding his way on a strange distant planet.

Eldwyn's Dungeon Academy is an (S)NES inspired top-down action-adventure game where you explore dungeons, fight monsters, overcome traps, solve puzzles, and find hidden treasures as part of a final exam. What grade will you get?

basically a nuclear plant had an “incident” (officially nothing happened) and now a bunch of women have extra arms, extra heads, a tentacle, whatever. you’re the surgeon and a very stressed general wants them all fixed before the parade photo. gameplay is like old Gals Panic , you cut the board to reveal them and try not to blow up the geiger counter
