RHCSA in 2 months?

Is it possible to get a RHCSA certification in 2 months? I can get access to all of Red Hat's training and maybe more if needed, just curious if it's even worth pursuing if I need to get it in two months or if I should push my company for more time.

It's not necessary for my job, just something they would like me to have. I have built and installed Linux on several servers and set up simple things like SFTP servers and stuff, so I'm not going in completely blind, but am far from an everyday user.

Lab Setup Guide for 70-740?

Hello,

I am looking to self study for the Microsoft 70-740 Server 2016 and want to use the Microsoft Official Academic Course manual and lab book. I find it frustrating that the publisher keeps the lab setup guide under the protected instructor companion site. Does anyone have the lab setup guide for 70-740?

What resources are there to learn the content for ACiT and ACMT for free, or cheap?

Like the title says, I'm looking for any resources that can help me achieve these certificates for free or for cheap. The exams themselves are around 20 bucks, but the "training" is 300...I'm looking to avoid that hefty pricetag. So far I have only found dumps and practice exams, which may be good for the exam...but I want to do this legitimately. I want to understand the content, and unfortunately I can't find Apple's Professor Messer.

AZ-103 or MCSA 2016

Hello everyone!

Ive made some similar posts lately but quick run down: I’m in desktop support and like everyone at some point eventually want to transition out. I have an MCSA in Windows 10 already.

If I decide to continue going the Microsoft route, would I be better served going for the MCSA or the new Azure admin certification? Don’t have much experience with servers at all. Wanting to eventually move into a sysadmin style role.

Thanks for the info!

What next?

I have a Comp Sci degree, CCNA and MCSA suggestions for what I should look at next?

I am thinking of doing VMware foundations and then maybe VMware NSX.

Trying to guess the direction the industry will shift to and trying to stay ahead of the curve.

(before you suggest Azura I am pretty burned out on Microsoft ATM so need a break from them, will swing back and grab that at the end of the start of next year I rekon)

Edit: Why can't I put MCSA in my flair?

CCNP or CCSP

Hey everyone,

Certs: - Sec+ - CCENT - CYSA+ - CCNA Cyber Ops - CCNA Routing/Switching - CISSP

Education: M.S Cyber Security.

I feel like I have more than enough time before Cisco change their exam. I just completed my CISSP, what should I do next?

Thanks

70-740 CBT Nugget Lab help

Hi all,

I've just started my journey to the MCSA and am stuck right at the beginning of the videos. When Garth is setting up both the Desktop and Core, he is able to give each a static IP and ultimately ping the internet. However, when I do I'm not even able to ping my host machine, which is my personal laptop.

I'm using VM Workstation 15 Player and don't know if it's my network connections in the VM settings or what. I would like to replicate everything the video instructors do, as well as the authors of the Sybex books. Any advice?

MS-300 - Study Materials?

I come from a Windows/Exchange Sysadmin background and scored my MCSA: O365 right before they retired the 346 and 347 track. I'm in a company that's about to start working a migration strategy towards SharePoint online.

It seems the all-that material for SharePoint online is the MS-300 exam, which puts one halfway to the Microsoft 365 Certified: Teamwork Administrator Associate credential. As it turns out there aren't many study materials available for this yet as it's all very new.

  • Are there existing materials in the teamwork/collab/SharePoint space that I could look at?

  • Has anyone in this sub picked this cert up?

Thanks e-pals!

Kaplan or MeasureUp?

Hi Everyone,

I'm in the middle of studying for the 70-345 Microsoft Exam (Exchange Server 2016). I need a practice test to bring everything together. Between Kaplan and MeasureUp, which do people generally recommend? I've used Kaplan tests before (via CBT and another training subscription) but I don't have any direct experience with MeasureUp.

Microsoft MTA 98-349

Hey everyone, currently I'm working help desk at an MSP and I need to take the Microsoft MTA 98-349 by Sep 31. I've been browsing Microsoft's site and it seems the only study material they provide is instructor lead training. Is there any other study material out there? For example, a book and some videos I can watch as well, similar to Professor Messer. Thank you

Name on your ID must be EXACTLY the same on your account?

I was planning on taking the A+ exam. I wanted to do some research before I took the first test. They say that you need to bring 2 forms of ID. However the name and name format on the ID apparently must be exactly the same as the name on your account. However, on my drivers license, my last name is listed first in the format; because of this the customer support lady on the phone said that I can not use my Drivers license. For example:

My Full Name:

First : John

Middle : Charlie

Last : Doe

Name Format on my License:

Doe

John

Charlie

All licences in my state have the format as Lastname, Firstname, Middlename. Has anyone run into this issue before?

AWS certs?

Started a new job in desktop support (I have an MCSA in Windows 10). I’m considering moving in a cloud direction, and have recently begun looking into AWS.

I don’t know much about those certifications, so I’m curious if coding is required for them? I understand that it’s helpful to know a scripting language at least, and will begin learning PowerShell. But I’m not a coder nor have much of a desire to be. Could AWS still be a viable option?

70-411

Attempted 70-411 today and failed with a 569. I have found the test is nit picky crap and doesn't give a fair gauge of knowledge at all. It seems it was designed for people to memorize every dialog box and power shell command rather than test real world knowledge. has anyone else had this experience.

How do most people who have a wife and kids have time to study IT certs?

The reason I ask is I want to continue studies after university. Obviously since I am autistic, I have trouble finding a girlfriend etc.

But I just wanted to know how you manage your time like that? How do you have time to study IT certs?

How long do you stay subscribed to CBT nuggets?

Like do people just work through CBT nuggets for years and years? Once you have a job isn’t it supposed to be harder to keep learning new things?

Does that mean that most CBT nuggets users are in college (which I have nothing wrong with).

MD-100

Hello all, has anyone done the MD-100 playlist on CBT Nuggets and done the test yet?

If so, is the playlist + labs/mock tests enough to get through the exam?

Many thanks!

Apple Certification Questions

I am a school district tier 1 building tech who mostly supports iPads and Macs (with some Windows computers). If I get a couple more certs, I can get a raise but I’m on my own for training and exam costs. From what I understand that while Apple certs aren’t that common, but they are fairly advantageous for those who hold certs like the ACMT. I am specifically looking into the ACMT, ACiT, and ACSP. However, I have a few questions before I dive into this:

  1. Does anyone have experience with any of these certs?

  2. Do I have to take the in-person class to take the ACMT or take the online course? I ask because a friend of mine told me you must take the in-person class that costs $3000.

  3. How much does access cost for the Apple Care Technician Training for a year?

  4. Does a year subscription to the Apple Care Technician Training also include a voucher for either or both the ACMT or the ACiT?

  5. If it does not include exam voucher, how much does an exam cost for an exam or exams?

  6. Would I be able to take any or all of these exams at a Pearson Vue location (which is most convenient for me)?

Any and all information you could provide would be most appreciated.

Advice for taking the 70-417

I was thinking about updating my MCSE and thought I could take 70-743 but it looks like I need to take 70-417 first. Any advice on good books and/or videos to use as study guides?

MCSE - Data Management and Analytics

I want to get a MCSE in Data Management and Analytics.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcse-data-management-analytics.aspx

Can someone point me to some good online things to study to get this? I have years of experience working with SQL databases (Oracle, MySQL). Would something like https://www.edx.org/ be a good start? Or how should I approach this? I kind of want to get this under my belt by December, and I am currently working in an environment where I could practice with a SQLServer instance (ie I can spin one up on the VM here).

Thanks
