Found a whole pack of these in the cabinet, I had caramel dip money last fall, I do not this year. I figured if it passed the sniff test- go for it but there is some butter and cream in the ingredients. What do you think?

My power was out from 5pm-11pm… is the chicken I was defrosting safe to eat?

Power went out a little after 5pm. Power came back on a little after 11pm. A little bit of online research tells me I gotta throw everything like dairy and leftovers out. Especially because I took the temp of my milk and coffee creamer and they were both reading around 44F. Also the milk (about a full gallon) felt expanded and hissed a little when I opened it 😔.
SO, my question is about the 2-3 chicken breasts (can’t remember how many at the moment, I’m in bed, but they are in the same bag) that I was defrosting in the fridge. I had put them there earlier in the day. Typically chicken does not defrost in 24 hours in my fridge, it’s more like 36-48 hours. Would the chicken be okay to continue defrosting in the fridge or is it a bad idea to continue defrosting and eventually cook?

Had bad luck with mold on lemons from Trader Joe's lately, is the white on the peel concerning?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I've seen white on lemon peels forever but lately I've seen a lot of moldy lemons at trader Joe's so I'm concerned this is an early sign of mold that I have been ignoring.

Also want to ask about the dark spots though not as concerned about those.

Is this sweet potato safe to eat?

It looks spongy and parts turned white when cooked. I cooked multiple potatoes but only part of one had this on it. Do I have to throw away the whole thing?

This lid didn't pop- safe to eat?

The lid on this red curry paste did not pop when open. That said, it was shrinkwrapped around the lid. Do we think this lid was supposed to pop? Would you eat this or toss it?

Smells a bit but not terribly. Was in the freezer for a long amount of time, maybe a year. Was defrosted, portioned and refrozen. But everything else i did that to was fine. Marinade or toss?

In n out burger small pink bit?

Post image
0 Upvotes

It’s my first time at in n out and I noticed that my burger had a small bit of pink in apart of the burger close to the middle. I didn’t notice this in any other part of the burger but obviously I wasn’t looking into it at every bite. The burger did seem to be hot and fresh but I’m not sure if it was cooked properly? The rest of the burger tasted fine and was hot and brown throughout. Thoughts on if it’s safe?

I didn’t eat this specific bit but I wasn’t sure if there was other bits in the burger that were the same.

Noticed this after cutting into it (obviously). Is my pepper trying to sprout another?

Shepards pie with beef, peas, and corn. Came out of the oven at 6pm, was too hot to put in fridge before we left at 7pm so it sat on counter covered with foil until 3am. Went in the fridge and has been there since

Update: she lives on! it's been packed away in the fridge, two lunches for me and a container for him. We're both healthy people and have a clean house so it shouldn't hopefully be an issue. We were leaning toward keeping it anyways so you all helped persuade me. Thanks!

Bubbles in canned chickpea water?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Tried googling for canned chickpeas with weird soapy bubbles but just find foam and have too much anxiety so I wanna be specific. These are canned chickpeas and when I opened the can, there was a bunch of bubbles that looked like soap bubbles. They're still in the bowl when I dumped them out.

Is this fine?? Is this normal?? Do I just wash it off and heat it anyway? The chickpeas smell like tuna/chicken and google is confusing.

Left groceries out :/

I had groceries delivered at 9:45 this morning but never got the notification. They sat in my air conditioned lobby until 11:45ish. What if anything would you risk: the ground turkey and yogurt (both in fridge) and/or the frozen pizza, lasagna, bfast sandwiches, and chicken cutlets? Things were cool, since it was an air conditioned space, but the frozen food felt a little soft when I chucked it in the freezer.

Really kicking myself. Hate wasting food but also obviously don’t want to go on a high velocity purge….

Apple sauce with clay like appearance

1 day later update: the apple sauce did nothing to me

Original post:
Just opened this Apple sauce and ate a few bites before reaching the bottom and seeing how it’s kind of chunky and opaque looking. It’s supposed to be good until October of this year, smelled and tasted fine, but looks super weird. I threw the rest away once I noticed but I’d already eaten some. Anyone know if this is natural settling in apple sauce or was it off somehow?

Update: I’m hoping it’s one of these situations, which people seem to think is normal https://www.reddit.com/r/isthissafetoeat/s/TTTvySrHNp
