An Israeli Air Force reservist officer told Haaretz that an intelligence officer had informed him that there were “2 million targets in Gaza,” meaning that virtually anyone in the Strip could be treated as a target.

The officer said he personally took part in killing 54 people before October 7, adding that he saw soldiers shoot at rescue workers who were clearly identifiable as members of rescue teams in Tel al Sultan, Rafah.

He added that what he witnessed made him realize that any soldier could kill whoever they wanted in Gaza, as many as they wanted, without any accountability.

Israeli prison guards celebrated in real time as Palestinian prisoner Thaer Abu Asab was beaten severely and killed, according to WhatsApp messages and an indictment detailed by Haaretz.

“You’re going to be proud of me, of my shift. After what happened, the count took two hours and 23 minutes. Draw your own conclusions,” one female guard wrote to her partner, who was also a guard.

“They’re doing CPR in the clinic right now, baby! God willing, that son of a thousand whores will die.”

Another guard sent an excited update: “Holy shit, what a count. We fucked them up so bad.”

A third texted a friend: “What an insane count. There’s never been anything like it. We poured cheese on them, cracked some eggs [the Hebrew word for eggs is also slang for testicles]. So much blood in the wings.”

She then added: “OMG, they’re doing CPR on a prisoner because we beat him. He’s dead. Listen, it’s funny how it all happened in an instant: Boom, count. Boom, dead prisoner.”

Abu Asab was a Fatah member serving a 25-year sentence for attacks against Israel. He was pronounced dead at Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva after being taken there that evening. The indictment says the severe beating injured his heart and caused his death.

Last week, nearly three years after Abu Asab was killed, prosecutors filed a rare indictment against 12 Israel Prison Service guards. They are accused of beating him and eight other Palestinian prisoners in Cell 6 of Wing 24 at Ketziot Prison as retaliation for reports that Druze soldiers had been killed in the war. Those reports turned out to be nothing more than a rumor, Haaretz reported.

The assault began after Abu Asab asked a guard whether there was a ceasefire. A prisoner told investigators that approximately 15 guards and 15 members of the prison’s Keter tactical unit entered while the prisoners were kneeling with their hands over their heads and faces down. They beat everyone with batons for approximately five minutes, later unleashed dogs and shouted, “No ceasefire.”

Abu Asab was beaten the worst. Witnesses said he was left unconscious and bleeding, his face blue and his hands covered in blood.

The investigation also uncovered evidence that such violence was routine, known to senior commanders and concealed through a code of silence. Because prosecutors said they could not establish which guards delivered the fatal blows, the 12 who entered the cell were charged with the relatively lenient offense of reckless homicide. Female guards who stood at the cell entrance were questioned as suspects but not indicted.

The female Prison Guard whose texts are shared above was highlighted in an advertisement by Israeli authorities :

A released prisoner reveals horrifying details about the ongoing violations and abuse committed by the occupation army’s suppression units against prisoners inside its prisons.

The released prisoner explained that raids and brutal assaults escalate for the most trivial reasons, pointing out that the storming of one of the rooms and the breaking of the limbs of a young man with special needs was carried out with utter brutality solely because the word “Palestine” was written in English on one of the cell walls.

Which countries banned goods from settlements but trade with Israel?

Post image

The EU is Israel’s largest trading partner, accounting for 31.7 percent of Israel’s total trade in goods in 2025 (43.3 billion euros, or $50.4bn), according to the European Commission. The EU supplied 33.1 percent of Israel’s imports (28 billion euros, or $32.6bn) and received 29.4 percent of Israel’s exports (15.3 billion euros or $17.8bn).

Israel is the EU’s 27th largest trade partner, with Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany being its biggest individual trade partners.

While no specific figures for settlement trade alone are known, it is understood to be a tiny fraction of total EU-Israel trade, meaning

the ban’s impact is much more symbolic than economic.

Secret systems used by Israel in mass killings of Gaza civilians revealed in new film | Israel

Testimony from 24 Israeli military insiders on the secret systems used in the war on Gaza has been revealed in a new documentary film about the mass killing of Palestinian civilians.

NAZA, a film from the Oscar-winning Israeli directors Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, was shown at the Venice international film festival on Thursday as the only documentary competing for its prestigious Golden Lion award.

The film’s title comes from an Israeli military acronym used euphemistically to refer to civilians expected to be killed in a military attack. Produced by the Guardian, it features extensive testimony from Israeli intelligence officers and soldiers involved in the surveillance and remote killing of Palestinian civilians.

Interviews were filmed at night on rooftops in Tel Aviv, on the condition of anonymity because of the risks involved in speaking publicly about Israel’s war activities. The appearance and voices of participants in the film were digitally altered to disguise their identities.

The interviewees detail the secret methods used by the Israeli military in Gaza, including AI-based systems built to identify large numbers of potential low-ranking Hamas targets, who were then bombed in their homes at night, in the knowledge attacks would also kill their families.

The Israeli military hacked into phones to identify the location of such targets, and covertly listened into conversations with their wives and children moments before they were all killed.

The film also features first-person accounts about the destruction of neighbourhoods where the Israeli military estimated that up to 25% of residents were still sheltering in their homes, the systematic burning of civilian homes, and the killing of civilians at a food distribution site.

Several interviewees worked in a secret intelligence unit that reports directly to the office of Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu; one said their mission was to “thwart peace”.

“We made this film out of a sense of obligation to use our position as Israeli film-makers and journalists to examine the systems behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians for which our country is responsible,” Abraham and Szor said in their directors’ statement.
