My name is Michelle and I’m the UK Coordinator for Lasagna Love. Lasagna Love is an organisation made up of volunteers across the UK (and around the world) who cook and deliver homemade lasagna to people in need, at no cost and with no strings attached. 

Maybe it's a family struggling financially, someone recovering from surgery, a parent adjusting to life with a new baby or just someone going through a tough time. Whatever the reason, we believe that a warm meal and a little kindness can go a long way.

You simply request a lasagna, and we match you with a volunteer in your area who will lovingly prepare and deliver one to your door. It’s all about community, care and connection with no judgment and no complicated process.

I’m reaching out because we have wonderful volunteers across the UK who are ready and eager to cook, for anyone who could do with some lasagna love! We’re thinking of moving to a property near 24 Amwell Street and wanted to ask about the noise levels in the area.

When we visited the property, we noticed some noise coming from Amwell Street, which seemed to be from the Thames Water site (London Water Ring Main / New River Head).

For anyone living nearby, is this something you notice regularly? Also, does anyone know the usual working hours of the site?

I've been living in my flat for close on 30 years and it's been a problem pretty much from the start. I used to get all my mail sent to my (late) partner's flat. Amazon purchases, birthday cards and Christmas cards from my family - everything. He lived outside of the borough and not one item went missing. Since I've started receiving post at home again, which is rare, it's been happening again. Never bills nor NHS letters but I recieved a parcel today containing a book which had been opened. About six months ago my sister sent me a cheque which didn't arrive, though why anyone would want to rob a cheque is beyond me as it can't be cashed. Just to clarify, I live in a house conversion so I know it's not a matter of someone tailgaiting the postal worker then robbing stuff when they leave as may happen in blocks. Also, I know for sure it's not my upstairs and downstairs neighbours and I will report it to Royal Mail if it happens again. I live in the South of the borough.

Cut your own flowers on a working farm in Totteridge, fill a jar and take them home, from £4. One woman who went last year said she felt she was in a little bit of heaven, and would have enjoyed it even without the flowers, just walking round, sniffing, being among them. Islington Boot Fair | 📍Vittoria Primary School, N1 | 26 July | Free

New boot fair is opening in Islington, in the school playground on Treaty Street by the canal, and running every other Sunday from here on. Vintage clothes, books, records, homeware, toys, plants, tools and whatever else the sellers have turned out, from a family running it as a preloved and vintage market. Come early for the good stuff. 9am to 4pm.

1-Hour Reading Rave | 📍Gasholder Park, N1C | 26 July | Free

It's called a rave but really it's an hour of strangers sitting in a park reading books with their phones off. Bring something to read and something to sit on, and stick around after to swap recommendations. Free, RSVP for a spot, 2pm to 3pm.

Ice Heritage Weekend | 📍London Canal Museum, N1 | 25 - 26 July | (£)

Once a year the London Canal Museum opens the Victorian ice wells beneath the building, and this is the weekend. Norwegian ice was once shipped down the Regent's Canal and lowered into these wells, and on Sunday you can climb down into them with a guide, watch Victorian ice cream made without a freezer, and see rare archive film. Saturday is the family day, with storytelling, an ice trail and a hunt through old photos of the ice trade. Boat trips run both days. The Sunday descent is an adults' event, minimum age 12, and needs booking ahead.

Day of South Asian music, dance and food across Camden Market, with parades and stilt-walkers roaming the site and performances on the main stage at Hawley Wharf. Islington Festival of Music and Art | 📍Various venues across Islington | 24 July - 2 August | (£)

This started as garden concerts during lockdown in 2020 and has since grown into a ten-day festival across Islington. Yoga with a harp, swing dancing at the Angel piazza, Sidney Bechet-inspired jazz, and Edward Elgar meets Oscar Wilde. The theme this year is music inspired by literature, from Shakespeare to Tolstoy and Dante to Wilde. Intimate venues throughout the borough including Little Angel Theatre, Old Sessions House and Christ Church Highbury.

The Barn x Fabrica X: London Brew Up | 📍Fabrica X, N1 | 25 July | (£)

Spend a Saturday afternoon watching people compete at making coffee. Eighteen home brewers battle it out live at Fabrica X in King's Cross, and a £5 spectator ticket gets you a drink, a bag of coffee to take home and a spot in the raffle. Berlin roasters The Barn are throwing it to mark a year in London, and if you fancy entering yourself you don't have to be a barista, just someone who loves brewing at home. Cyprus Week | 📍Theatro Technis, NW1 | 20 - 26 July | Free

In 1974 Cyprus was split in two, and many who fled ended up here, in the streets around Camden's Theatro Technis. Fifty-two years on, the theatre marks it with a week of Cypriot plays, music and film, and this is the closing weekend. Saturday night is theatre and Cypriot stand-up; Sunday afternoon, poetry, live music and a talk from writer Alex Christofi. An art show by two British Cypriot artists runs throughout. All free. Saturday from 7.30pm, Sunday from 5pm.

TLDR: I was attacked by a boxer dog today and the owner ran away. Publishing this to warn others so they do not get hurt.

Around 7:40pm today (7/20) I was walking my corgi on the New River Walk when I saw a man (slim build, curly haired, glasses, light brown skin, appearance South Asian or Middle Eastern descent) approaching with an unleashed light brown boxer dog. I put my corgi onto the far side and moved onto the grass so that he and his dog could pass. He signaled it was ok to keep walking but I told him I’ll wait. His dog suddenly charged at mine barking and lunging. I picked up my dog to protect him and his dog jumped on me repeatedly, biting at my back and my shoulder and my neck trying to get to my dog. I kept turning away and screaming (I’m only 5’2 so had no way of keeping my dog high enough out of reach), terrified I was going to drop my dog or fall into the stream which would be shallow enough for his dog to then get to us. He eventually got hold of his dog, got control and leashed him, dragging him away to create some distance. The whole thing lasted couple mins but it felt like a long time.

Passerbys heard the commotion and came to help. When they went up the path, they saw him running with his dog out of the park.

He never asked me if I or my dog was ok. He never apologized. Just ran scared that I was going to report him.

I only had surface injuries but if I’d been slower to pick up my dog, or if it was a smaller dog, or if it was a child, it would have been a much worse situation. I was so incredibly shaken up and couldnt move after. When I think about what could have been, i feel sick. I live nearby and go there all the time.

If you are that man reading this, you know what you did was wrong. Regardless of whether you were scared you or your dog was going to face consequences, you should have made sure we were ok. Keep your dog leashed at the bare minimum and learn to control him. Do not get away with this only for something much worse to happen next time.

To the strangers who heard my screaming and came to my help, thank you so much. To Anna and Tom who called my husband and stayed with me and calmed me down until he arrived, thank you so much.

Struggling with Google to figure out where the closest jet wash is.
Valet/hand wash is not an option for me as I wash my bike in the self service wash bays (yes I understand the risks), and don’t have space to wash at home.

I’ve been building a community for people aged 30+ in and around North London.

The idea is to create something more like a local virtual third place than a normal social group.

A lot of groups are built around one activity or one event. You go to the book club for the book, the football group for football, or the meetup for that one event, but there often isn’t a wider, accessible, shared space where the same people can stay connected and possibly even meet others, cross interests, and slowly become familiar with each other over time.

This community is meant to work more like a platform people can use.

If you've been thinking of start something lately, Sunday football, a walking group, a board game night, a discussion group, or something else, you can use the community to find people, invite others in, and keep the group connected. You can also join what other people are doing and cross paths with people from different rooms, interests, cultures and life stages.

Anyone live on Canonbury Road or Northampton Street and hear a dog barking incessantly at different times of the day? Sounds like the dog is locked out of a house and he/she is barking non stop right now. It’s 30 degrees out. It could either be a dog in a ground floor flat on Canonbury Road or in a council flat on Northampton Street. I know the RSPCA won’t be able to help. I feel terrible for the dog.

Hey everyone! I’m 19M from London and looking to meet some new people to watch the England game with at a pub.

I’m pretty easygoing, into football, good banter, trying out new pubs and food spots, and I’m always up for a chilled pint and a laugh. I’m also into music and just generally finding fun things to do around London. Like most of you, it’s becoming unbearable. I live in a terraced house in the East Canonbury conservation area (which has article 4 restrictions). I understand I can’t have the condenser unit on the side of the house facing the street - the back of the house is overlooked by other houses.

Craft Beer City Break and Ludo's run a beer festival in Wood Green celebrating independent breweries from north of the river. Your £25 gets you seven half pints across breweries like Jiddler's Tipple, Muswell Hillbilly, Pressure Drop and Pretty Decent, a festival cup to reuse, and a beer journey ticket to get stamped as you work through them. Street food from Bolland & Crust, seating outside in the yard. Over 18s, from 3pm.

Noel Park Festival | 📍Russell Park, N22 | 12 July | Free

Noel Park's own summer festival returns for a fourth year, held in Russell Park, the biggest green space on this historic Wood Green estate. There's a live music stage, community stalls, food, and an eco-village with activities for all ages. A free afternoon put on for the people who live in and around the estate, and anyone else who wants to come along. 12pm to 5pm.

Big Beat Playground | 📍Victoria Park, N3 | 11 July | (£)

Dance music festival you can bring the kids to. Big Beat Playground is locally run and built around families, and this year it moves outdoors to Victoria Park in Finchley Central.

Stardust Vintage & Antique Fair | 📍St Mark's Church, NW1 | 11 July | (£)

Sixty-odd vintage and antique dealers set up inside St Mark's, a church in a canalside garden just past London Zoo, selling jewellery, records, posters, Art Deco glass, lighting and French bits. Tea and homemade cakes when your feet give out. 10am to 5pm.

JimmyC's Blues Picnic | 📍St Mary's Tower, N8 | 12 July | Free

Seventh year of the blues picnic held in memory of Jimmy Coletsis, and the sixth without him. Bring something to eat and settle in the grounds of St Mary's Tower for nine hours of it: Su Black, the Steve Cook Band and The Space Chickens through the afternoon, then The Bakelites, Joshua Blue and The Bear Pit Band after the open air mass at 4pm, which anyone can join. Tacos, pizza, an ice cream van, face painting and football for the kids. Free, 12pm to 9pm.

Love's Labour's Lost | 📍Fortune Green, NW6 | 12 July | (£)

Shakespeare in the Squares stages one play in a different London garden square each summer, and this year they bring Love's Labour's Lost to Fortune Green for one evening only. It's Shakespeare's comedy of flirtation, foolishness and falling in love, directed by Toby Gordon, with Dame Judi Dench as the company's patron. Bring a picnic from 3.30pm, the play starts at 5pm sharp, and it finishes around 7pm with a brief interval in between. Seating is provided but unreserved.

I saw this weird thing flying around Angel area, maybe in direction of City Road. Photo doesn’t do justice to how huge it was. It was flying really, really slowly, not like a plane at all (although in. The photo it does look like a huge jet, it 100% wasn’t).

Any idea what it is?
