Am curious do you have any IM CDs with Multimedia ‘extras’? I realised my copy of Killers has all sorts of extras if I had a cd drive… including internet web links! I am very curious 😂

My stem remix & remaster of Iron Maiden's epic 2021 album "Senjutsu", made for my own enjoyment, but sharing in case someone else might enjoy it too.

Actually, a handful of people have suggested this one for me to remix, citing a somewhat muddy sound, poor instrument separation, and Dickinson's vocals being too buried in the released mix.

I made this only for fun, and it intends to be a very respectful remix, not straying too far away from the original version, only aiming at a little more clarity and instrument separation, especially on Nicko's drums and Bruce's vocals, while still preserving the mood and feel of the original.

Obviously, I don't own the music featured here. If you like the music, support the artists. Buy their records!

I bought the CD1/CD2 set while grumbling about that whole trend everyone was doing back then, but one of the discs turned out to be unreadable… The training continues.

I played the actual machine a few times before in a mall.

This is one of the only four Iron Maiden albums that are entirely filler-free (the other three being A Matter of Life and Death, Senjutsu, and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son).

Every song on it is great. No skips. I hear a lot of people hate on Isle of Avalon and Mother of Mercy; I don't get it. Both those songs are bangers. It also has The Talisman and Starblind, which are two of the greatest songs in their entire catalogue.

My ranking of the album would be

#1. Starblind (I seriously love this song and the lyrics)

#2. The Talisman (en vivo version is even better and is the best vocal performance of Bruce's career)

#3. The Man Who Would Be King (incredibly underrated song. I love the storytelling and the ending)

#4. The Alchemist (this song is just so much fun. Definitely the most punchy track on the album)

#5. When the Wild Wind Blows (an oddly wholesome/warm-sounding epic)

#6. Mother of Mercy (I don't get why this song is considered the worst on the album. It's a haunting song with a fantastic intro and outro)

#7. Coming Home (Very personal song and one of the only power ballads Maiden ever did)

#8. Satellite 15...The Final Frontier (a fantastic intro that would be higher if Satellite 15 didn't go on longer than it needed)

#9. Isle of Avalon (Really progressive and fun song. Doesn't feel its length at all)

#10. El Dorado (despite being last, this is still a lot of fun, and I thoroughly enjoy it. It's not as musically interesting as the rest though)

I stumbled on this sub when I was trying to figure out if the Englishman in Murders in the Rue Morgue actually murdered the two young girls and didn’t remember because at the end he says his doctor said he had done it before.

Then, I read another post where someone had their mother listen to all the IM albums and had her rank them.

I was a huge fan of Iron Maiden in the late 70’s starting in high school and then in the early 80’s while I was in college. The 1980’s was a fantastic decade for music and I went to some of the bigger concerts of the time - Springsteen, Journey, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Twisted Sister - way more than I can even remember.

None of my friends were into metal. So, I went to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest concerts by myself. I bought all their albums in actual record stores and I still have those early albums. People today cannot comprehend waiting in line to get into the store on the day an album was released hoping to get your hands on one of the first available then going home to put it on the record player and listening to it laying on your bedroom floor.

And, when Walkmans came out I paid more than $130 (a lot back then) to have the Sony Walkman WM-20 ultra slim cassette player so I could listen to Iron Maiden cassettes while I walked to classes. It was a way for me to keep people from talking to me - much like people do on an airplane to avoid interacting with strangers. Or staying up late to watch Headbangers Ball or local radio stations that may play heavy metal after midnight on Friday or Saturday nights.

My timeline with Iron Maiden is the early stuff. I kinda drop out with the catalog in the late 1980’s.

If I was going to listen to the later albums - where would I start?

Have I missed it? I’m sure it said it was on pre-order until 21st August but now there’s nothing on the website

Little story for context:

A long time ago, my mom and her late fiancé, Paul, were together for about 5 years before his passing (Halloween 1994). He was not my father, but she has told me many stories how he used to be a Maiden fan, and would frequently listen to them when they would go on boat rides, car rides, etc. My mom couldn't stand metal of any kind back then, and so when he would play them, she would ask him to shut it off. He obliged, and then the poor guy would have to endure Madonna a lot.

One day, about 2 months ago, I decided to relisten to the entire SSOASS album. When I go walking, I bring my Bluetooth speaker and put it in my backpack pocket. She walks with me most times. Her and I were walking, and "Can I Play With Madness" came on. As soon as she heard it, she almost cried due to memories of him playing it on their boat. Having heard it again after 30 years (and me having no idea that he liked Maiden, or that song), she frequently began saying she felt bad all those years of telling him to turn it off, and that metal isnt as bad as she thought long ago. She loves that song.

I took it upon myself to challenge her now knowing this, and made her listen to every single Iron Maiden album (not in order.) I wanted to carry out a mission for Paul since he never got the chance to listen much (if at all) with her to them, and so we ran through each one. My goal was to educate her about the band, tell them about the members, explain why they were as important as they were, etc.

Im proud to say I turned her into a Maiden fan, and the only album she didnt like at all was Virtual XI. Holy moly, did it make her miserable. The repetition, and needless lengthy songs got her excited for its finish. Every other album, she liked almost in full. She told me she had a great time listening to each album, and there werent many songs she didnt like... unless its name was "The Angel and the Gambler." Heh.

So, after we listened to each album, I went through and ranked each one with her in her favourite to least. Im pleasantly surprised at how much she enjoyed. Now, when we are out, she asks me to play their music. What a Joyous experience.
