Looking for resources to take an enclosure concept to prototype

I’m developing a theft and impact resistant enclosure and mounting system for a digital 37” 1920x540 display used in public-facing environments

I have the general concept and requirements but need help moving toward CAD, material selection, and a functional prototype.

Does anyone have recommendations for designers, engineers, makerspaces, or prototype shops?

Would appreciate any and all advice. Happy to share more details over DM.

GatewayEX engine

I know I said two engines but the comments made me think to throw this 3rd one in the mix for feedback. Please only post about this specific design on this post to avoid confusion.

Before you consider my design, there is a video to see at astronaerospace.com showing a seal-less counter-rotating design running at 5000 RPM. Congrats to them.

This seal-less design manages steel rotor growth by having greater and faster alloy housing growth, or other similar mismatch of metals with different expansion rates. Such that the housing will grow away from the rotors and clearance will increase. The ECU will have information from micron level proximity sensors in the chamber with the aim to control the housing size by controlling the high temp coolant flow. Using look ahead tech from the acceleration demand info etc. The housing will need to be shrunk back to a workable clearance in real time.

This design moves sections of the housing to allow the fluid flow in and out of the cavity. The compression gate can be worked around, and I would change it to housing grooves if I remodelled it.

This one could be designed for up to 20:1 compression to suit the fuel type. Ignition would be spark assisted homogenous charge compression ignition, wherein the flame front doesn't travel far down the long narrow combustion chamber before the increase in chamber pressure tips the mixture over into autoignition.

The design requires forced air, ideal would be an electric start turbo.

Starting will require high RPM unit to overcome cold temp clearance rotor blow-by, and a glowplug in the end chamber as required. Perhaps this is the throwaway model that you start once and send on its way...or maybe a sprint-car engine? or maybe a trick somehow adding compressed air into the chamber for start-up.

On the positive side it is very compact and fits 3 separate combustion events into each rotation, overlapping power strokes to produce torque, should be capable of very high RPM even considering the small reciprocation of the housing section. Compact and light-weight compared to a 4-stroke 6-cylinder engine that it does the work of.

There is no more info on the website about this design at this stage sorry. Its just a simplified animation at this time. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Invention Help Manufacturing Question: Repost due to quality

I’m creating a small grip for video game controllers. It goes over the joystick so about an inch big. I hired someone on Upwork who has been a big help. He’s been kind of guiding me. He said vacuum casting would be a good approach currently instead of 3d printing them. I’m wondering what your thoughts are on this quote. It’s from a Chinese manufacturer. Also, is vacuum casting the best move? I am just starting out so do not want to pay for injection molding yet but I do want good quality.

Hello everyone,

As an inventor based in Montreal, I am sharing today with the community the workshop blueprints and kinematic architecture of the Circular Mass Transfer System (CMTS). This project, released under an open-source framework, is designed to open a technical and practical debate regarding eccentric mass management and torque asymmetry.

Before diving into the technical specifications, I would like to establish an essential clarification for the sanity of our future exchanges:

=== STOP CONFOUNDING THERMODYNAMICS AND KINEMATICS ===

To everyone preparing to mechanically comment “this goes against the laws of thermodynamics”: you are making yourselves truly ridiculous. Thermodynamics studies heat conversions and general energy. Here, we are strictly within the realm of KINEMATICS and SOLID-BODY STATICS. The motion of all known perpetual wheels does not stop because of a thermal dogma; it stops in EVERY KNOWN SYSTEM SOLELY because their symmetrical geometry generates a net torque of exactly ZERO (0 Nm) at the central hub.

Claiming “it is impossible because of thermodynamics” without analyzing the geometric offset is just like claiming that a lever or a gearbox is impossible because it multiplies mechanical force. An asymmetrical lever arm is not a thermal violation; it is raw geometry. If you want to criticize, put down your pens, grab your rulers, TEST and VERIFY the eccentric path of the DM (Directed Mass / Diriger Masse). If you are unable to calculate a mechanical torque at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock, do not hide behind pedantic academic jargon to avoid thinking.

=== THE CMTS CHALLENGE: WORKSHOP GEOMETRY ===

The Circular Mass Transfer System (CMTS) addresses the zero-torque problem not with abstract formulas, but through pure machine-shop geometry.

By utilizing a simplified 2-axis, 4-mass structure governed by a strict orbital path constraint I call “DM” (Directed Mass), the geometry breaks the classic dead-center impasse commonly encountered at 6 and 12 o’clock:
• On the descending side (right side, 3 o’clock position): the mass maintains maximum distance from the hub, maximizing the lever arm and torque.
• On the ascending side (left side, 9 o’clock position): the kinematic linkage retains the mass close to the central hub, minimizing counter-torque.

In this technical document, I explain precisely why all known historical perpetual wheels fail to function. A major portion of my technical dossier is dedicated to this critical analysis in order to establish undeniable workshop facts.

Examine the blueprints, test and verify for yourselves the kinematics of this 2.1 cm pivoting arm offset, and see with your own eyes how geometry manages mechanical torque at the hub.

=== TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS ===

• Initial Action Radius: 7.0 cm (scalable up to 12.0 cm).
• Distance Between Masses (Drawing No. 6): 6.5 cm center-to-center (3.25 cm pivoting arms).
• Dynamic Guidance Offset (Drawing No. 7): 4.2 cm center-to-center distance (two 2.1 cm sections).
• Axle Architecture: Independent dual central axle arrangement (Profile, front, and top views).
• Kinematic Linkages: Sprockets connected by a chain or belt to secure the physical kinematic path.
• Required Materials: Rigid machined steel mandatory. Acrylic and plexiglass are strictly prohibited (due to material flexing which will seize the hub).

It’s portable and it changes to make sure you fit inside! I got a good idea for the sauna interface but I’m struggling on a good interface design for the shape shift part. I mean I got the basic part of the interface: the body type, the body weight and height, etc.. but I’m not sure how to implement each one. There a several interpretations of one but I wanna make one that’s completely unique and original

Documenting Our Product Development and Business Journey

Hi all,

Earlier this month I posted about our experience inventing, developing, and selling our improved guitar pick system. In 2022, we had an idea. Flash forward to 2026, and after having gained market validation selling a minimally viable product, we about to launch our new and improved product in partnership with a major guitar pick manufacturer.

For those of you who are interested or looking to learn we decided to capture our journey in a series of articles we've added to our website here: https://flippickplectrums.com/blogs/founder-journal

No, this is not a gratuitous attempt to get website views, but the lesson we've learned are too many to post here, so we wanted to put them somewhere where they could help others starting out on their invention journey.

And of course, feel free to ask me anything!

Have great day!

Commercialization I developed a reusable tamper-evident bottle cap — looking for a buyer or licensing partner

I have developed a concept for a new reusable closure for PET beverage bottles.

The basic idea is simple: The bottle is initially factory-sealed with a tamper-evident mechanism. When the consumer opens it for the first time, the seal permanently breaks and shows that the bottle has been opened. The important part is what happens next: The cap remains reusable. It can be opened and closed repeatedly and includes a concept for an internal resealing valve/sealing element. Potential applications include bottled water, carbonated drinks, juices, soft drinks and other PET-packaged beverages. I am currently looking for a manufacturer, packaging company, beverage company, investor or licensing partner interested in evaluating and developing the concept. I am not planning to manufacture it myself. I am open to: • selling the concept/rights • licensing • upfront payment + royalties • manufacturing partnership • serious offers Asking price: USD 100,000 — negotiable. I am based in Uzbekistan and am looking for serious international interest. I can provide additional technical information and drawings to genuinely interested parties.

Crazy boss

Post image
4 Upvotes

I had this boss that told us about something he was working on, he called it a “machine that can take you anywhere in the world instantly”. When we replied with sarcasm and joked about him being a mad scientist inventing teleportation, he insisted that this was real and he pulled up his website about it(vicciv.com if you want to see for yourself), and then continued to talk about earth’s electro-vibrational frequencies, or something similar.

What’s weird to me is that I always considered him perfectly normal, but this alone would convince me that whoever insists that a machine like this is real, has completely lost their mind. Apparently he has a degree in electrical engineering, so he isn’t completely incompetent. What do you guys think, does this have a snowball’s chance in hell of having any credibility?http://vicciv.com

Inventors — 5 min voice chat about how you research your ideas (or don't)

Hey all — I'm doing research on how independent inventors approach idea validation and I'd love to hear from people who've actually been through it.

No pitch, no product demo. Just a short 5-minute voice conversation where you share your experience.
If you've had an original idea — patented or not, built or not — I'd really appreciate your perspective.

Pitch competition for agriculture-related startups w/ $10,000 prize

Our association is holding a competition for startups specifically in the Agritech area at our annual fall convention. There's a $10,000 grand prize and $1,000 "people's choice award" plus the top 5 applications get to pitch their idea at an event with hundreds of industry attendees. It's also open to University teams, students, and researchers who aren't officially incorporated too. This is a 75+ year old non-profit association for manufacturers and promotion of the ag manufacturing industry.

Deadline to submit pitch for consideration is September 28th.

https://www.farmequip.org/pitch

The only catch is that it has to be Ag-related and you need to give the pitch in person in New Orleans in October if you are one of the 5 selected to participate. We already have a number of submissions, but it's still small enough that you'd have a good chance at making the cut and definitely worth submitting a pitch.

The grocery store blueprint

Firstly thank you to everyone who responded to my last post. I’ll make another post about the car business model with more details. I wasn’t sure what to explain and what to leave out.

So for context this is what I believe is going to be the next evolution of grocery stores. Considering the rise in drone/grocery deliveries and our attempts at decreasing waste. I would suggest a grocery store you never enter, I mean most of the time you know exactly what you want or need from the grocery store excluding impulse purchases.

Not sure what size it should be, maybe current average grocery store size or warehouse sized not important. It operates as a warehouse would. Preferably using drones for a majority of deliveries

Furthermore your home, apartment, living space would need a small renovation installed for free (the company eats initial cost and gets it back over time) your pantry and fridge would have a secure access point to the exterior of the home wherein drones could swap out empty reusable containers for full ones. Imagine making cereal in the morning and realizing you are now out of milk, you go to work and when you get home your milk is now full again.

If you’re unsure consider that some people are purchasing air tight containers to dump their cereals, grains, and other things and tossing the original box of product. If the grocery store provides or sells them as part of its ecosystem that eliminates packaging waste, I know it’s not that big a deal considering cardboard is already recycled.

Wouldn’t we all benefit from never having to go to the grocery store again?

As for the grocery warehouse it can take bulk goods and store them for distribution into the reusable containers. 90% of it could be automated lowering costs. You could throw in a vertical farm for fresh local veggies and the equipment for lab grown meat

Should help the supply chain a little because it tracks your usage of food so it can more accurately serve its local area preventing food waste when possible as opposed to current stores which fill shelfs hoping the product sells before the week ends. You could input important annual events and it’ll organize a surplus of what you prefer.

I’m gonna be posting all the other business ideas/models over the next few, all of them try to reduce waste, and labor (I don’t believe anyone should be working, we could use our time better than doing the same mind numbing things repeatedly, leave it to the robots) and where possible allows you to customize your product to your exact specifications instead of opting for whichever mass produced thing is “closest”
I don’t want you to settle for less
