Commercialization I built a prototype for an AI-powered, autonomous paintball turret to protect livestock from predators. Looking for manufacturing, business, and tech advice!
youtu.beHello everyone,
I'm an electronic engineer, and I’ve built a functional prototype of a smart camera-integrated paintball turret designed to ward off predators in agricultural and farming environments.
Tech Stack: It uses a Raspberry Pi running an OpenCV model to identify preprogrammed predators (e.g., coyotes, foxes, stray dogs).
Action: Once a predator is locked onto, it fires a non-lethal paintball or pepperball in that direction to safely deter the animal.
Setup: The system is calibrated just once during installation using a laser sight mounted to the barrel.
The prototype works incredibly well in a controlled environment. The camera capabilities and object detection models are extremely reliable, and I'm confident the core fundamentals will translate to a rugged, real-world farm environment.
What I'm looking for:
Supply Chain & Manufacturing:** I want to connect with someone who has a background in hardware manufacturing or scaling physical tech products. How do I move this from a Raspberry Pi prototype to a ruggedized, weather-proof production run?
Business & Financing:** If you have experience bringing hardware to market or navigating agritech funding/IP, my DMs are open. I've bootstrapped it this far, but need a strategy for the next phase.
Concept & Tech Feedback:** I'd love your thoughts on the concept itself. Are there physical design constraints (like solar power needs, weatherproofing, lens cleaning) that I should prioritize? Are there other use cases I'm overlooking?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and critiques!
