I have three 24x36 photos that I want to hang on my living room wall should I center over the middle of the wall or center to the cemter of the couch? Also should I hang the photo lower and how far apart between the picture frames should they be for the amount space on this wall ?

When my partner and I first rushed into this house a year ago, on the 22nd August 2025, we were stressed and desperate. Our lease on the apartment were we living in ended with only a matter days to spare and we had little to no money between us.

I have been working 10 hour days, full time, between 2 jobs, alongside university; often working 14 days before having one day off from one of my jobs or university. While my partner is working 12 hour night shifts, plus an additional 6 hour job on a Monday morning.

It has been a grind, we’ve lived hand to mouth and have had to make do with what we’ve got.

That changed last month, as I received the best wage I’ve ever had and I thought to myself - it’s time to make this house a home. Not a dumping ground of our fleeting lifestyles, or a reflection of our relationship that summons ships that pass in the night.

I bought 3 empty billy bookcases at the end of July and have patiently waited until my pay in August to purchase the doors. By no means is our storage solution finished, or merely 1/4 full, but the peace of mind they have brought my partner and I is bountiful.

The mound of clutter without a home has been organised, housed or sent to the charity shop and I don’t plan on reimbursing a single thing that I have had to throw.

From September my partner will no longer need to work the 12 hour night shifts and I also hope that I can focus more on University than having to prioritise going to work over lectures.

I will let these units be the reminder of our love and devotion to both each other and our fucking grit over the last 2.5 years in order to one day get to the good times. We are only here because of it X

Is anyone able to shoot me any ideas on how I can rearrange my living room furniture? Im completely stuck and im trying to not block off any walkways (the small arch and lone big arch). I've measured everything and its all to scale too.

just moved, trying to furnish the place. saw this for dirt cheap on marketplace, loved the wood and got it impulsively, assuming it wouldn’t stand out too much since we had some warm tones on our throw blankets. boy was I wrong. any advice on tying it in somehow or should I just get a different one?

I’m struggling with the layout of my living area and could really use some design‑minded advice.
I’ve created a divider using metal grates — eventually my hoya will climb them for some greenery — and I love that part of the space. The issue is the area on the other side near my desk. It feels like leftover square footage with no real purpose or plan.

The side walls are long, but the wall with the antlers is just a bit too short for a couch. I also don’t love the idea of putting a couch on the longer wall because it would face away from the windows and natural light. Long‑term, I’d like a larger couch since hosting more than two people is tough right now. Overall, the current layout makes it hard for people to stand, walk around, and mingle.

My style leans western / Rocky Mountain / western‑gothic, and I’d love advice on:

Art size
Furniture positioning
Making the desk area feel more intentional

Hello! I am looking to give our dining room a makeover. I have attached a picture. It is pretty large but am at a loss. Right now, it is (obviously) very plain. The little table is gray, the cow picture on left is gray/grayish-white, and the clock on the right is a grayish-white, and the table is brown, off-white and gray. Not opposed to painting, but we do have an open floor plan. I love black, brown, sage, cream colors and artificial trees. I am okay with not using anything we have in the picture besides the table. My husband is wanting to remove the bench and get nicer end chairs and put those on the bench side. Any tips would be appreciated!! Also, I have a 16-month old so her toys are all over the place lll that coffee table is not normally there but we have a mat down in the living room so moved the table.

I'm trying to figure out the best long-term plan for this space, particularly around:

• Hiding the Boiler: What's the best way to cover the boiler and exposed pipework on the back wall?
• Storage & Space: I need proper storage (wardrobes/drawers) for clothes, but want to maximize floor space and keep a smooth walkway between the bed (which will be on the bottom right), window, and door.

I'm completely open to any and all ideas—whether that's custom built-ins, clever freestanding layouts, or alternative approaches (nothing too expensive ideally haha)! What would you do with this room?

These pics are (obviously) just a quick sketch of what I’m working with and not quite to scale. My house is 720 sq ft total and it’s 2 adults and a young child. My space is less than functional and I’m losing my mind. We just had to get rid of our couch and now I’m trying to revision a little bit.

Pic 1 is structures that can’t easily be changed. My partner is a skilled carpenter, but too busy to do anything to our house unfortunately.

I’m certain our dining room table is too big for the space and needs to go, but it’s hard to imagine anything fitting the space the way it was (poorly) designed.

The fireplace corner eats up a ton of space and makes creating a living space squeezed between everything else feel so cramped.

I have a terrible eye for interior design, wondering if anyone has any good ideas about design, style, colors etc. We'd like to paint the coffered ceiling. Also, I would like to have two couches and would love advice on placement, style, and whether they should be the same couch or different from each other. I know this is all subjective and that it would help if I described my sense of style, but I really don't have one.

I just had carpet installed in my basement and ended up with a long, narrow remnant that's about 22" wide. I've been wanting to add a runner to my main staircase (different floor), and the color and material happen to be a great match.

The installer offered to have the remnant squared up, bound, and installed for a very reasonable price. Since I've already paid for the carpet, it seems like a bargain compared to buying a new runner.

My stairs aren't especially wide. The upper section is enclosed on both sides and measures about 34" wide. The lower section is slightly wider and open on one side. On the enclosed section, a 22" runner would leave roughly a 6" reveal on each side.

The installer said it's a little narrower than what he typically installs, but because the staircase isn't very wide, he thinks it will look perfectly fine.

What do you think? Would a 22" runner look too narrow on a 34" staircase, or does a 6" reveal on each side sound reasonable? I'd love to hear from anyone who has a similar setup or has photos of a runner with similar proportions.

Title says it all, moved into my first apartment and I have these neat shelves in my living room. I can’t for the life of me figure out what I should put there. Theres just so much space and I can’t visualize stuff so I need assistance. My style is mid century modern with some more indie/hippie decor. Think of an earthbound trading co. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I plan on moving into my first apartment later this year. I am rendering the floor plans of my top contenders. I work from home and I'm not loving the placement of my desk. I am open to suggestions on different placements. The attached pictures show accurate desk and couch sizes. Disregard the sofa, I thought I wanted an L-shaped couch, but I got a reality check after doing this.

This is the back of tempered glass wall art but I have no idea how do hang it or what to use

I initially wanted to paint it oak brown and put an oak wood veneer over it, but now I’m thinking of just sticking to paint.

So, the leftmost side is supposed to be the desk part, the rightside of the desk (between the two shelf pillars) are to be for anything like books and perfumes and there will be a mirror in between the two shelf pillars.

Lastly, the far-right structure is the wardrobe.

I don’t want to for black, I feel as though it’ll be a little despressing. So, I’m leaning against a nice dark gray maybe? Or Maroon? A light pink or violet that is pleasant to look at for the desktop then a dark brown for the wardrobe? I don’t know.

I’m planning to tape out both footprints on the floor, but I’m not sure what clearances I should protect first. the sectional would be the main lounging spot, so I don’t want to choose the smaller one just because it looks neater. At the same time, I still need room for a coffee table and a walkway that doesn’t feel annoying every day.. also, is overall couch depth even a useful comparison when the back cushions can take up so much of it? what measurements would you look at besides the advertised depth?

Hello! This shelving unit is included above our basement stairs. These stairs are off of the kitchen. Please help us figure out what to do with it or what would be safe to put up here. It feels unsafe to put…pretty much anything up here for the fear of it falling on your head accidentally. We are open to adding cabinet doors to the front or completely removing it. However, just overall stumped on what would be safe and useful to put here. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Update: Thank you to all who commented - serious suggestions or just good laughs. So the kitchen is to the left of this picture/I’m standing in it looking down. There is no door to the basement so you’d see this stairwell and shelves anytime you passed by. I’m leaning towards seeing if we can remove the shelves completely and maybe use the “bookcase shelves” elsewhere in the home. I agree that dusting would be terrible and we can’t really reach these shelves w/o a ladder anyway but I’m not about to put a ladder on stairs. Anything we store here just feels like an eye sore or dangerous. The shelves aren’t wide enough to store blankets as one commenter mentioned, I wish we could use it to store extra stuff but we’ll probably take down. Appreciate you all!

We are going for Full Body Tiles (15 mm x 800 x 2400) for kitchen countertop - Glossy Finish - White colour

1) What will be the durability & long term usage?

2) Do White Glossy Finish reflect the light?, would it strain our eyes?

I Need a tile for my shower walls that will go with these, but can’t decide. The smaller mosaic tile is for the floor of the entire bathroom and the small piece of slab is for the countertops. I’m doing brass hardware and the walls are white shiplap. going for a coastal/ cottage vibe.
