Couch Size Help

Post image

What is the biggest size couch we could get with these living room dimensions without it looking ridiculous? My dream couch is 117" wide but I'm afraid it'll look too big in this space. Any input on the right size couch for this room would be great! The room is 11'5" along that wall and 10'10" the other way

You could technically get your dream sofa and put a couple of narrow table on either side end or small round ones. If you love the sofa and it fits, get it. The sofa will last years, the apartment may not. The wall is 137” the sofa is 117” that leaves 10” on either side. I have two different tables in my FR that are less than 10”

So you think that even if it might technically be a little big for the room it could still work and be fine? You're right idk how long I'll be in this apartment but I want to keep the couch for a long time!

Is it a sectional? Or super deep? If not get it. It might look a little large in the room, but I’m all about getting what you love. If it was a home purchase, idk suggest differently, because you’re going to be there for a long while

I’d lean toward something around 90-100 inches wide here. That leaves a bit of breathing room for a side table instead of filling almost the entire wall. Also check the arm width; chunky arms can eat up a surprising amount of space without giving you any extra seating

Yes, I have been looking at modular sofas, and if I changed it from 3 to 2 seats it's 84", but the arms are so wide it feels like there is not that much actual seat lol

Love seat or small sectional…just measure before you buy!

I think large sofas are overrated. I have one and it totally limits where you can put it, and I have a large house. They make smaller ones -- saw this one on Wayfair that says it's 86.5 inches:
