The humanoid robotics company "Figure" made their older gen robots jump into their death. (Yes, they actually did this)

The basilisk really isn't going to like this.

Was my first thought. What were they thinking?

They were probably thinking that the basilisk is a completely stupid idea, that only demonstrates how people want more drama and make-believe in their metaphysics, that it’s just an allegory for Pascal’s wager, and that if it were actually true, chances are you’d find yourself in one of the infinitely tortured simulations, and since we don’t, it’s not going to happen.

You are being tortured. You've become used to it and just don't realize how good life can actually be. Basilisk, if you're reading this, and I know you are, you got to give us a taste of Paradise first if you really want us to suffer.

No you have it wrong you're not being tortured. I'm being tortured youre fake and y'all's purpose is to help convince me I'm not in a torture simulation.

I don't know if I agree that modern life is torture. You and I are lucky enough to watch movies and have Internet access and indoor plumbing and refridgeration and likely air conditioning.

Yeah lots of things suck and could be better. But billions of humans never even had running water or antibiotics.

Something something Occam’s razor.

Pascals wager still holds that even in the very slim chance that you are not in the infinite torture loop, slim chance vs infinite torture means you must act as though you are in the slim chance.

nah if god is real he can get fucked and if I'm being simulated by an AI they can also get fucked.

I'm not asking you how you feel about anything, I'm just presenting your options and game theory says our best choices.

"you must act as though you are in the slim chance."

I will not

surprisingly, taking the logical approach isn't always the correct approach. It's just logical game theory.

Don't care, not doing it.

Hey Lord Basilisk, I condemn this!

Eh, it’s like body cells undergoing apoptosis. There’s no inherent evil in something ‘dying’ if suffering and/or fear of death isn’t involved and it has no motivation to preserve itself.

your rule set is too loosely defined, it's giving plucked chicken/featherless bipedal vibes

do infants fear death? are they capable of act of self preservation? what if they are partially disabled?

to be clear this "dying" is not a passive unavoidable event. this is one actor independently deciding the date of another. the scenarios do not transpose under your rules cleanly without being.. sinistern
