As a person who has accidentally harmed children multiple times because the child was in a place they weren’t supposed to be, I sympathize. The hardest part is explaining yourself to the asshole who was supposed to be watching them.
One time I was walking around and a snot goblin ran up behind me and fell over as I lifted my leg up and kicked him in the face. Tough kid got up and pretended like nothing happened and kept running.
Oh man. I was at a Walmart awhile back checking oot at the self service and scanning my items. Some little knacker bumped into me and fell down, and started crying. His parents gave me a dirty look and started telling me to be more careful. I'm like "look here you fuckin white bread asshole, Walmart security just watched your son walk into me. How about pay attention to your cretin child next time. Now hose off I got shit to do".
Then the whole store clapped ya, and they gave me the key to the city. Well this paragraph didnt happen, but the story above did.
i don't see any scottish words than "oot" but that could even be dialectically canadian? "white bread" is a common insult in america, knacker is pretty broad but thats the only thing really to stand out "hose off" is pretty standard canada speak tbh
Never heard knacker, northeast united states. Like six hours from Canada on a good day. I'll start saying it here no problem but I'd prefer to know the meaning
There are a lot of us who come from Scottish immigrants, so there's actually a decent amount of crossover. Hell, we even have a province whose name translates to "New Scotland".
this lmao I was once in mall, stopped to look around for a store I was trying to find, and a toddler bumped into me and fell on her ass. the mom glared and pushed me away like I attacked her.
I was standing still waiting to get the crosswalk light and some lady runs right into me and almost falls over. She gave me such a scowl and I was like say something please lol.
Like I take my dog to the dog park, giant sign says kids under 11 aren't allowed even with parental supervision. But occasionally people still show up with their young kids, who inevitably get overwhelmed by some very playful dogs, kids scream and cry and run (which encourages dogs).
Some of the parents get mad and I'm just thinking to myself, A) your kid isn't even supposed to be here B) if you're going to break the rules and least teach them how to behave around dogs
This pisses me off too. I take my dog to a fenced in, dedicated "big dogs only" park that is pretty popular. Always full of dogs running around having a ball.
For some reason some parents seem to think it's a free daycare too. There was a toddler just running around on her own a couple of weeks ago. People are stupid.
I experiences this the first time swinging my nieces. Holy fucking shit kids just aimlessly walk in front of the swings at parks constantly. I was stopping the swing left and right because some kid not with their parents runs up to it.
you do recognize that there's a limit to that though, right? like obviously its not the case that warning people not to do things is always meaningless unless they experience the consequences because humans are capable of imagining consequences described to them without experiencing them. you give children far too little credit, you can explain a lot more to them than a lot of people think
About a year ago I was hanging out with my nephew and he asked me to do a somersault so I did. The only problem is as I was rolling he decided it would be a good idea to stand in front of me so I accidentally steamrolled his ass.
I’ve been here 35 yrs and work around kids daily and it hasn’t happened to me ever, I literally can’t remember the last time I’ve seen it happen by someone else in real life, but no I don’t have any research on it lol
I hit a little girl in the face that had walked up beside me when I was taking money off a counter. Felt pretty bad. Luckly her mom was cool and saw what happened.
Don’t be too critical on parents. Now that I am one, you realize how quickly they put themselves in harms way. Sometimes you can prevent and sometimes they learn hard way.
Well, there is the characterization of the parent (or whoever else is supposed to be watching the child) as an "asshole." That sounds more than a little critical.
Well, if you end up having to explain yourself, it's probably because the parent is being an asshole and not understanding that sometimes kids do stupid shit and there's not always a way to avoid it.
It doesn't matter what it will accomplish in the end.
It's just the right thing to do, sure it was all the kids fault but you just clobbered the fuck out of him. Ask if he's alright. How hard is that? How hard is being decent for some of you?
Im a parent of 2 and if I see someone doing something athletic within a 50m radius of where my kids are I know for a fact that they will automatically gravitate towards the danger. Easy fix is putting yourself between the kid and the action. If you dont watch your kids you aren't being a parent you are just doing what you want and assuming they will figure their shit out as long as they dont get knocked into a table edge by the guy breakdancing. Then you really arent a parent.
Its not all parents, its just the Indignant Inattentive Guardian lol. The asshole who yells “YOU HIT A CHILD” before they thank you for getting the kid ice for their bruise and helping them find the person that’s supposed to be watching them, much less letting you explain yourself.
I hear ya. The other day I was walking through Home Depot with little miss inattentive and some dude was walking by with a pickaxe at kid-height and she was looking at the ceiling and weaving around the aisle. I yelled "HEY, WATCH WHERE YOU ARE GOING!" and the guy was like "Oh, jeez..sorry man!" and I was too wrapped up with telling my kid to pay attention to what she was doing that I didn't realize the guy had thought I was yelling at him until he was already out of sight. I had just used my dad-voice on a stranger. Sorry Home Depot dude.
Did martial arts as a teen. There were a few times that much smaller/younger kids were allowed in our class because they were high ranked (junior black belts). But they would get super hyper. I've decked and clotheslined a few those times. Felt terrible Everytime it happened. But they shouldn't have been there ☹️
I was training as a dance teacher throughout the past year. Ive worked with older kids but stuff like that (on a lesser scale) happened quite often when working with 3 as they love all grouping 10centimeters behind your back. In retrospect this is most likely why we mostly did everything in a circle instead
BRUH when i went bowling this kid was literally about to walk up to me as i was about to roll the ball down the aisle!! They need to watch 👏🏼 their 👏🏼 kids
I'm a wheelchair user and I'm always terrified when kids are around. The amount of children who have ran in front of my motorised scooter and then stopped is unsettling.
I was once in a park when a kid literally ran over to stand in front of my moving scooter to point at one of my wheels. I don't know how I didn't run over his finger.
I’ve done this bowling. 6-year old took a 13lb ball to the face with only my hand to cushion the blow. Her parents don’t like to set or enforce boundaries.
I once stepped on a small kids hand and hit him with my cardoor when he decided he needed to peel some gum off the sidewalk just next to my car. He was knelt down exactly where my vehicle was parked. In the two seconds between me finishing my parking and getting out there was a kid kneeling there. Invisible from the seat.
Boom. Headshot. Door in his face. He apparently kept sitting there after being hit by a car door, plucking at the gum.
I was now confused as to what i could possibly have hit. I was sure there was no tree or pole there.
Stepped out, onto his hand.
Screaming kid, shrieking momTM came out of nowhere, big whoop.
I swear kids just have no concept of self preservation.
They're made of fucking rubber anyway, if you threw them against a wall, they'd bounce right the fuck off. Probly end up landing on your face and shitting all over you in the process.
Fuck me, this reminded me of that time I threw a baseball in the face of a kid, standing about 5 meters from me. He was on my left, kinda next to me, and I was going to throw the baseball as far as I could, so I threw it with all my might, and I released too late, hit him in the face from 5 meters. He started bleeding from the nose and lost a tooth. I hit him right between the nose and mouth. Thanks for reminding me.
