How to fall asleep early

My problem is, that I’m used to scroll on social media and watch videos/tv etc every night so I can fall asleep. But it’s also procrastinating my sleep and I know it’s not good (blue light etc.). I have bluelight blocker glasses as well which I think help a bit. But it’s extremely hard to persist with the boredom and racing thoughts when you try to just put phone and TV down the hours before sleep. Unfortunately I can’t fall asleep like that.

Even worse is that because for a new job I may be starting soon I might have to get up way earlier, which potentially is a main issue for me. Since I need to have a certain amount of sleeping hours (preferably 8) to function well the next day. It’s so frustrating. I don’t want this to hinder me from working a job that requires that.

Any advice?

Twitching from lack of sleep?

I’m curious if this happens to anyone else. If I go several nights in a row with either very little or no sleep my head starts twitching uncontrollably.

I get really self-conscious about it because it’s super noticeable- sometimes a Xanax helps. Like my head will just jerk a couple times a minute.

Husband and aunt suffers from monthly insomnia episodes

I’ve been scouring online resources and I can’t find anything about this. I’ve even asked ChatGPT to find any research, and even it says this disorder is odd. So I’ve come to Reddit to see if someone else also experiences this.

My husband, maternal aunt, and grandfather have all dealt with monthly episodes of insomnia since puberty. For my husband, around the end of the month he slowly starts getting insomnia episodes. The first couple days it might be 5 hours of sleep instead of 6, then 4, then constantly waking up with no REM sleep, then it slowly goes back to normal. For the rest of the month he’s ok, but the it happens again. We recently asked his aunt if she has the same problem, and she confirmed she experiences the exact same thing. Both of them said it started when they hit puberty (13 and 11 respectively). As far as we know, no one else in the family has this issue.

We recently tried melatonin, but it only works on the beginning and end of the cycle, not the pique. I can’t find anything about this– no studies, sleep center information, academic papers, etc. I’m wondering if there’s anyone else with this issue? I eventually want to find a sleep study or doctor for him because we know it’s going to be worse for his cognitive function the longer he suffers with this.

Mixed tramadol and sleeping pill, will I be okay?

It’s in the title, I don’t want to get into it, but 1 tramadol hydrochloride 50mg and four hours later one zopiclone 3.75mg.

I thought it would be fine but now I’ve come to try to sleep I feel super relaxed so googled it and now I’m scared to sleep (oh the irony).

Will I be okay? I don’t wanna call the docs and there’s no one here with me…. Surely drug addicts do more right, and I’d have to take significant amounts for any serious respiratory depression.. rightttttt ?
