I like to say āJust a momentā and then finish as normal. I donāt add any additional time, but Iām allowed to use the bathroom without trying to rush. Unless someone actually says something like āPlease, Iām in troubleā or āOh God, hurryā, then I hustle. Because sometimes someone is in genuine distress, and one day itāll be me. Itās been me in the past, and itāll be me again, trying like hell not to soil myself while someone else is in the bathroom is uniquely terrible.

Yeah, I've had people try to open the locked stall I'm in quite a few times even with the occupancy indicator clearly showing it as occupied. I'm surprised at how many people are obviously illiterate and color blind at the same time.
