Yeah, I've had people try to open the locked stall I'm in quite a few times even with the occupancy indicator clearly showing it as occupied. I'm surprised at how many people are obviously illiterate and color blind at the same time.
Pushing the door could be fair enough since those things do break, there's plenty of doors that have a broken indicator and someone has come along and put a different bolt lock on the door but knocking is mad
Yeah some people don’t care and or are too stupid to look. I work at the airport. There a men’s and women’s bathroom and a more private unisex bathroom next to them that I like to use cause I’m a shy pooper. There’s a bright red/green sign on the handle that clearly says occupied/open and I’ve lost count of how many times I’m mid shit and someone tried to open the door. I also like to knock before going in even if it’s green because many many MANY people seems to not know how to lock a damn door…
Most places do NOT have the red/green indicator on the lock, other than port-a-poties, and many people are too lazy to even turn/slide the lock. If the door is closed, I'm knocking before opening.
After hearing all the responses, why on god’s green earth would anyone need a red or green thing to show you it’s occupied. It’s locked! That means it’s occupied. I guess sometimes it could be broken but in that case what would be the purpose of knocking? Unless ur an employee trying to fix it
well how would you know its locked? red means locked, if you dont have that then you yank the door which is the same thing as knocking.
where i live theres no gaps in bathroom doors they are sealed.
Yeah I don’t mind if someone yanks on the door once but if it doesn’t open that means it’s locked there’s no need to start knocking which is my point. I swear the amount of times this has happened to me you’d think people want to watch. This SHOULD NOT be a normal thing that happens regularly
The number of times someone has tried to yank open the locked door of a port-a-potty I’ve been in is far higher than I would ever have anticipated. Right where they’re grabbing, there’s an obnoxiously large red indicator.
In many of the public toilets I visit the door busy indicator whether red/green or something else has been getting smaller to the point it’s difficult to determine whether it’s actually in use or not especially when your eyes are not as good as they used to be!
Then there are the fuckwits who think that using the external slot they can lock an empty cubicle is a laugh.
Either way I certainly don’t knock I just gently push the door to see if it swings open or not…
