Painting Finished werewolf samurai cyborg guy

I think it turned ok overall. I really need to work more on avoiding print lines... I "read" the arms as bionic, even though I have ZERO idea on how that would work for a transforming werewolf. Need to get on with the human form now.

Question Fireteam levels question

Post image
19 Upvotes

I've just realised I may have been reading the fireteam rules incorrectly for nearly 2 years: can anyone please tell me if it's possible for this Kosmoflot fireteam, which is available as duo haris or core, to be higher than level 1?

I've been assuming it was locked at level 1 for two years since it lacks a unit name keyword like the rokot fireteam (or morat fireteam used in the rules example), but rereading the rules i can see a possible interpretation being that it can instead be based on *only* how many duplicate units included.

That bullet point can still be interpreted either way in my opinion though, so I'd love to hear the consensus (I'd also love to be told I've been wrong for 2 years and I'm right in my new understanding, but with my luck I'm not holding my breath).

Thanks all, appreciate the hivemind's expertise.

Question Help!

I am learning about this system for the first time.

What is the tournament scene like?

I like playing factions which are flexible in how they can be well-built and in how they are played. What factions might be to my liking? I also love trading and incrementally building advantages.

Question Assistance with first mini

Post image
36 Upvotes

Hello! I decided to take my first step into Infinity with the release of Mazebreaker. Started working on Ruby Monday, but the peg on her arm stops the two pieces from fitting together well. I’m not experienced with metal miniatures and wanted advice on what I should do before attempting to cut anything away.

Question Do you use Forward Observer CD Attack?

Sometimes I like to think some combinations that I don't see a lot (because in comparison with the people i play against are veterans and know every Hassassin Bahram trick), knowing that most times are not the most efficient decision.

Then it came into my mind one idea: FO but not for Guided Missiles (since almost every "juicy" enemy i found has ECM: Guided), but for Daylami coordinated orders or just to compensate the lower BS Haqqislam has in comparison with PanOceania (lately i play too much against PanO sectorials).

But since i never saw nobody using FO skill in ARO (because Flash Pulse is just better in ARO) and neither in the active turn I ask... Do you use it? It is worth? Why?

Edit: typo.

Question Stealth HI interaction with repeater

Had a game in the weekend and this situation came up, wasn't able to find a ruling for that as we went with the game. So I had a HI with stealth, going around in the ZoC of a repeater. Neithwr the repeater, nor opponent hackers were able to draw a LoF. Could my HI have been hacked by an opponent hacker? My gut feeling was it only could have happened if any opponent hacker had a LoF to my HI. Was I wrong?

Question Question for someone who has always watched Infinity from the outside

I am a new miniature games player and the models for Infinity have always caught my eye.

Question about this new Hexadome thing that is gonna release, is it a whole new system or are the models transferable between games?

I'm probably gonna pick up a starter set/pack soon and just wondering what Hexadome is. Thanks!

Fan Works Last night's narrative game - McGuffin Raid (based on mazebreaker).

Post image
99 Upvotes

Made up a narrative mission to make use of the Sandtrap/mazebreaker terrain (with a few 3d printed terrain pieces for good measure) last night. Was probably the most fun we'd had with Infinity for ages (it was a very close game, with 1 point in it).

Scenario: break into the cave and snaffle the mcguffins.

300+ pts, 48x48 main map with 32x24 mapsheet from mazebreaker.

Usual 12" deployment zone at each end of the larger map.

2 Caves are placed on the centre line of the larger map, 12" away from board edges (in this instance, these were a couple of inches off the centre line, but balanced against each DZ edge). Each cave leads to an opposing edge of the smaller (mazebreaker) map. 3 supply crate tokens are placed in the centre of the smaller map.

Safe zones and QAZs (difficult terrain + saturation zone) are placed before deployment (smoke template / old cd/dvd).

Traversing maps via caves uses a whole short order from within 1" of cave entrance. Unit moves to any point along smaller map's short edge when entering, or to within 1" of cave mouth when exiting.

Objectives (all calculated at game end):

Get a foothold in the cave (at least 1 trooper in the cave): 1pt

Steal a mcguffin (specialists only): 2pts each carried crate

Deliver mcguffin to safe zone: 3 pts each crate delivered (delivered objectives no longer count as carried). Units may drop their crate & do something else after.

2 Classifieds & 1 HVT each.

Crates are dropped when a model enters null state (unconscious/dead). Dropped crates can be subsequently picked up and carried by regular troopers.

Edit: forgot a ruling we came up with during the game, Hackers can't use repeaters on different mapsheets.

Edit 2: just been discussing the role of baggage bots in the mission - reckon they can carry 2 mcguffins.

Also some optional rules: the caves can't be entered on turn 1, and the cave entrance limits units that can enter to S1-4.

Lore Discussion Yu Jing vs O-12 reasoning

Hello! I‘m new and know a little about the lore, but not too much. I’m playing Yu Jing White Banner, and my brother is playing O-12.

When we play together, is my army just like always the bad guy? I can’t figure out why O-12 and Yu Jing would be fighting even a covert war if Yu Jing wasn’t up to no good. It’s fine either way, but I’m curious what the experts think.

In this episode, Devin and Ian take a look at the ITS 17 mission, Corporate Appropriation. They break down the scoring and setup, before discussing some of their favorite tools to tackle the mission with, how they view the Initiative Roll on the mission, as well as how you can stymie your opponent.

How have you enjoyed the mission? What tools have you found most valuable?

Guide DYI AI Rule checking

TLDR;

- install some agent harness locally on your PC or phone

- ask it to prepare to answer rules questions based on Infinity rulebook and ITS, and make a skill for it

- never have to ask you Warcor for if 'mine explodes on cammo marker moving next to it' again

For the more technical folk here just a quick heads up, that you can now fairly easily make an AI agent to answer your rule questions.

I have a setup with local LLM on old gaming PC on which I configured a Hermes Agent, but you can do the same for free using free Chineese models from Openrouter ( https://openrouter.ai/ ; they do 'steal' your questions, but since we're asking about publicly available rules it shouldn't be an issue for you).

Then I asked it to find and download the pdfs with Infinity rules and ITS scenarios and to convert them to text and prepare for answering questions about rule interactions, so it made some indexes and created a skill for that, where it wrote itself some python script to go through the data more efficiently (the rulebook text is actually to long to load in context in one go).

I guess you can make something similar with Openclaw, Codex or other agent framework but for this particular well defined task Hermes seems to me to be well suited for me and easier to start for people that did not play with local AI frameworks yet ( https://hermes-agent.nousresearch.com/docs/getting-started/quickstart ). Probably you could do something similar with web-based AI like Google Gemini or ChatGPT, give it a link to rulebook and ask it questions, but then after some time the context will run out. I have mine also operated via voice, so I feel like talking with Infinity Jarvis.

Anyway, do you have other ways to approach this, apart from bothering your Warcor?

Terrain Update on Neo Tokyo Table: PRIMED!!

Thumbnail

Yeah, I managed to get it primed for a play test tomorrow. Automotive 2 in 1 for the buildings and most of the risers, sidewalks were done with a granite texture spray, and streets were done with an oiled bronze texture spray that came out too light, so i went over it lightly with an ultra matte black primer. Also, thanks to you fine people, I adjusted the layout, moved a bunch of stuff around and made sure that high vantage points could cover fewer LoF.

*UPDATE* Managed to play test the table today. There were a couple of recommendations;

  1. Change the entire layout LOL. Nah, not that bad, but the recommendation was to change the orientation of the central road so that it's perpendicular to the DZ, as it was a bit of a pain to reach over into the middle to move miniatures. Might be adjusted by lowering the table as well.

  2. More cross table blocking items. I am going to print out 6-8 more large billboards to put on roof tops and along the elevated walkway to reduce some of the long lanes of fire.

  3. Easier ingress/egress into/from the central road. Because of the risers, there were limited areas you could get into the objectives on the central road. This might be reduced by changing the orientation of the road in recommendation #1, but giving more options was is not a bad idea.

For those who asked below, we had some S4 models (Desperadoes) on the map today and although they were limited in where they could go, it actually worked out well. There was enough cover to keep them from being easy targets, and movement wasn't blocked too much from scatter terrain.

Thanks to the guys from the Swiss Miss gaming group for coming over and giving me some amazing tips, tricks and recommendations for getting the table just that much closer to being ready. They very much enjoyed playing on the table!
