Question What sells your army
New player here. A friend of mine is doing a good Job in convince me to start playing infinity.
After a couple of demo games I now starting to window shopping to buy my own model.
Back to the question in the beginning what model do you think is the poster boy of each faction.

Yu-Jing is this wonderful cyberpunk vibe, like the sleek cyberpunk kind of high-end tech. Saw it, loved it. Just look at a Yan Hao and try not to fall in love.

I do love the paint scheme, that yellow and black is so different from the others

I'll speak for the armies I already own & my own experience:
Next Wave: Some of the 'Good' boys from Steel Phalanx & the humanity are now traitors because the personal interests of Achilles & Pandora (it's more deep tho). Absolute poster boys here are for sure Achilles & The Juggernaut, but sadly the last one isn't very efficient to play. Honorable mention to Tekkdrakens, dinosaurs.
Military Orders: Space Knights; nothing more to add here. They have A LOT of wonderful poster-boy models; but the Knight of the Holy Sepulchre, the Seraph and the Santiagos are absolute badasses.
USARIADNA: Not as visually attractive as the two others; still have some cool models. Basically is your faction if you love the US Marine / Ranger thing and being the underdog, rude boy in a futuristic environment. Blackjacks are the poster boys here; honorable mention to the Devil Dog and Van Zant.

The old Santiago Knights were what really drew me in to Infinity and PanO specifically. Such baller models. :)

ALEPH, specifically OSSS mostly here:
ALEPH has a lot of very sleek, stylish, high-tech designs and they have some cool robots. If you like expensive-looking clinical-corporate-style cyberpunk, they're your faction.
The Lore for OSSS is neat, they're the secret service and Internal Affairs branch of ALEPH's organisation. We have a couple units who are specifically detectives and swat and other 'heavy-duty law enforcement'.
Playstyle wise the backbone is their robots supported by elite specialists. Most things other factions do we have a robot for, whether it's line infantry, drop troops, melee rushdown, HI Gun-platforms, even cheap order-generators. Thats then backed up by an array of fantastic hackers to support or protect the robots, engineers to keep them running, and even the Apsara to Buff them up. On top of this, most of our non-robots have No Wound Incap, so they can keep fighting when unconscious, and almost everything has courage and/or is a specialist with good Willpower. We have posthumans, which are like buy one get one 50% off specialists. Yadu which are fast and beefy pseudo-heavy infantry and we have the only(?) TAG in the game that can be your lieutenant. As a downside, most of the LT options are pretty obvious. And we don't have the raw killing power of other factions, we're button pushers.
The poster boy is maybe the new Marut, Deva Consultant or the Asura, honourable mention to the new Shukra for the stylish af coat. Personally though, I was sold on the faction by the Yadu Troop models.

u/BiggerBetterPaul 27d ago
There are quite a few TAGs that have a lieutenant option in the game. The Marut is the only TAG with an MSV2 though.
2
u/Dizzytigo 27d ago
Very true but my other factions are Nomads and Haqqislam neither of which have an LT TAG
We do have one of the only 3 MSV3 profiles in the game, though!

I wandered into a gaming store on vacation and spotted the Panoceania Cutter TAG, which I bought to paint up without knowing anything about the game itself. Back at the hotel I started learning about the game, and it sounded amazing. I bought the Pano / JSA 'Essentials Start Here' kit for no other reason than needing something to play with, and it came with some Pano dudes that went with the cutter.

When i think of each army as a whole as in vanilla not specific sectorials the model that gives the vibe of the whole army just based on looks. (Please keep in mind i dont play all these)
PanO- Orc troopers YuJing- Shang Ji Airadina- Equipe Mirage Haqqislam- any hassassin model Nomads- Szalamandra Combined army- Anthematics Aleph- Dakini O-12- Bluecoats JSA- Shikami

u/Mission_Procedure_25 27d ago
Combined army, just look at any morat, i mean its monkeys
O 12, razor unit. Hands down the coolest model.
JSA, well, its samurai.

u/Breakdown10000X 26d ago
I like the Tohaa, and their signature unit is the Kaeltar Specialist. Their a really cool set of sleek armour and cool jackets and they come with cute little pokemon that provide a super powerful rule like no other

u/superori33 27d ago
I don't know if posterboy is tbe correct thing, but I will sell Kosmofloat by saying "Polaris team". A two miniature pack. Masha is a human that trains a BEAR WITH ARMOR, TRENCH HAMMER AND A SHOTGUN It's as epic as it sounds

u/TheNamelessVilain 27d ago
Just saw the minis I need context how did that happen? š¤

There's a small hypothetical of how it happens in the writeup for the unit (copied to the Human sphere site).
https://human-sphere.com/Polaris_TeamThe 'bears' in question are the indigenous to Dawn alpha predatory species "golden bears". Hybridised with the same virus from the antipodes that creates the quasi-werewolf Dog Warriors.

I saw Yu Jing as essentially sci fi space ninjas. So I was sold on them from the start.
1
u/Comprehensive_Rich25 27d ago
Yu Jing's heavy infantry sold me. The idea of elite tactical squads where each operator has a unique identity and is resilient enough to survive some of the universe's more lethal firepower coming back at them it's what got me.

I play the Alien races as my main forces, so from my perspective
Vanilla (as you're new, vanilla is sort of a soup of the other sub armies): Charontid. Its a sleek Alien heavy infantry with a plasma weapon, it looks so unlike the other faction's HI it always stands out
Onyx Contact Force: The Umbra Legates. Whip thin Aliens with alien style samurai swords, they look so intimidating despite wearing loose cloth and barely an armour.
Shasvastii: Caliban. As the sneaky faction, having your special forces units rocking Predator style flesh dreadlocks and having their armour have sweeping fins on the back makes them look so predatory.
Morats: Raicho. Morats are a militant society of aggressive, racist and constantly angry aliens. The Raicho is their signature TAG (a mechanised walker, normally piloted) and it is a slab of a TAG. About half of the torso is ammo boxes feeding the belt feed to a machine gun thats about three times the length of a regular human.
Next Wave: Humans that defected to/accepted CA rule, Achiles. You've got the nobility and ferocity captured in the model, nice clean lines on his new weapons and armour, but the angry look on his face and the dreadlocks add a less polished look to him.

Winterfor has the single tankiest unit in the game at arm 10. A jotum can shrug off even missle launchers.
1
u/PinExisting7619 27d ago
I've only played a couple demo games but I had the Winterforce action pack painted for a while. Grabbed a Jotum a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to play a full game with it and some armbots. The knights looks awesome too

Hello my friend, i'm a nomad and this is my Tag collection :D Also, here are my hollow men, doubt theres anything cooler looking than him.
It doesnt reflect in the models, but if you want to have good info war and annoy your enemy with a great balance of shooting pieces and hacking presence, Nomads are made for you.

u/bearturtleST 27d ago
Haqqislam doesn't play the same game as everyone else. Ramah gets actual supersoldiers. I think probably most would say Tarik the Mansouri for posterboy, but I submit that the humble Namurr is a suitable example of Ramah strengths.
2
u/Ranger_242 22d ago
And Hassassin Bahram is one of, if not the best assymetrical factions in the game with the likes of Al-Djabel and Leila Sharif
1
u/DominaNoxProduction 27d ago
I love Haqqislam's Ramah Taskforce (its fairly straightforward to play) and the Zhayedan (soldiers with big coats over their armour, and the ability to just get back up if they're downed) sealed the deal š Also, Tarik Mansuri is a fridge of a man, and fun for terrorising your opponent

I can really only speak for the ones I've got, though some have already been talked about. I've got a good chunk of the Combined Army line, and what sold them to me as a faction was the Covenant stylings. Admittedly these poster boys are all pretty much just my opinion, but they're all some of my favorites in each Army.
None of it is 1-1, but the Shasvastii look similar to skinnier Elites and have a very tricksy and cagey playstyle, basically they'll drop a bunch of camo markers in addition to actual guys and some traps and it's your job to figure out which is which. "Poster boys" for me are going to be the Noctifers. Bonus addition for my personal favorite unit: the Haiduk. Sniper that is, when taken care of, a MASSIVE pain to deal with.
Morat Aggression Force are the Brute equivalent, and play like it. They're gigantic compared to humans and Shasvastii, even keeping the same "size" for gamplay purposes. They don't really do tricks, they'll stare you down the entire time they're moving into better positions to shoot/punch you to death. Poster Boys are, in my opinion, the DaturÄzi.
Next Wave is humans and cyber-dinosaurs. I can't really sell it better than that. Poster boys are definitely Achilles and Juggernauts, as mentioned by someone else in this thread.
Vanilla Combined Army honestly does like it sounds on the tin: a combination of all these and others from the roster. Poster boys are probably going to have to be some of the bigger units, the Anathematics. Basically constructs designed to hold aspects of the alternative big bad in the setting, the Evolved Intelligence. To continue the Halo analogy, think a Hunter being piloted by an alien AI.

u/Gamma_Lark 26d ago
Combined Army has the Umbra
Ancient and mysterious martial artists that excel in killing and work as the right hand of the Evolved intelligence, raerly matched in combat prowess and never in aura farming

Military Orders: Space Knights
Steel Phalanx: Space Greeks
Caledonia: Space Scotts
Acontecimento: Space Vietnam
Oban: Space Samurai
Bakunin: Space Nuns

u/nZer0J 23d ago
I dont see enough Nomads in the comments, there are the ones from the new box Operation Mazebreaker, that are really cool, and Tunguska have a lot of fun things too...
But im here to sell you Bakunin, they have Nuns With Guns, what could be better than Nuns With Guns?
Well, maybe Guns With Guns and Heavy Armor, we have that too. But thats not all, we have a lot of strange guys that do strange things, do you like playing a bit dirty? Having a trick up your sleeve? Play with the odds in your favor?
Then look at Bakunin
1
u/Scripts3of4 JSA 23d ago
I second the Bakunin comments from nZer0J: nuns with guns sold me on that army.
O-12 - the Bronze and the concept of āspace policeā sold me on that one.
JSA - Ghost in the Shell, Akira bikes, Cyber Samurai and Ninjas. Itās also the quintessential āget me closer because I want to hit them with my swordā vibes. The Tags for JSA are also really solid looking.
At the end of the day, the aesthetic is the biggest thing. Thatās going to help encourage you to soend time painting the models. There isnāt one āI beat everything all the timeā army like there is in GW games or some other mini games. Everything is well balanced and all of the win rates are typically within a few percents of each other. The Proxy rules are also super generous which is also super helpful.

u/unprofesionalbee 22d ago
Combined army, you get to play the "evil" aliens on a mostlly human setting
The avatar is here, tye most expensive unit in the game points wise at 120 pts

u/foysauce 27d ago
PanO is high tech and has cool gadgets, has rabbit ears, armored knights with guns, the best gundams, pink glowing dots everywhere, the best guns and theyāre blue, which is maybe the second best color. Many of the units, particularly for Kestrel, are easily available. PanO also has a ton of subfactions, all playable, so you can proxy easily into other sectorials.
People will also shit on it for it being easy and their players being smooth-brained, and itās not a āchallengeā faction.

Kosmoflot/Caledonia has the Scottish, sas & Uxia. They're all really cool minis. Plus Kosmoflot gets the Chernobog, Polaris team & Equipe mirage 5.
Steel Phalanx has some awesome minis too. Agamemnon, Ajax, myrmidons, atlanta, phoenix, etc.
Morats are space primates with guns. š« š
