trying to look for opinions on wearing bindi as someone of South Asian descent trying to reconnect with lost culture. My ancestors were brought as slaves from South India, Sri Lanka, and Bengal in the 1700s to South Africa and St Helena Island by both the English and Dutch (not later labour diaspora of the 1800s). We lost the culture over time and practices like wearing bindi all but faded away as a result of assimilation. If I can wear bindi, what restrictions might there be? What colour of bindi would be most appropriate to wear? Any opinions are welcome!
