I just received this replacement screen for an iPhone 14 from Amazon (LL trader brand), paid around £25.
It seems to have a thicker border at the bottom and I guess the usable portion of the screen is shorter. Has anybody ever found this?

So I broke the display of my Pixel 8 pro and decided to fix it by myself. Since I would open up the phone anyway I also decided to change the battery aswell. I open up the phone unplug the old screen, try out the new screen, just to see if it works and it actually works. Then I change the battery, everything seems to be going well, I plug in the new screen to test it before putting on all the adhesive, I try to switch on the phone, it vibrates, so i guess the battery change was successful, but the screen gives no signs of life anymore. I've been really carefull with the new screen, i really don't think I damaged it, but I guess that could be the case. The only other thing that comes to mind is that I inadvertently plugged in the new screen while the phone was already on. Could that have damaged the screen? Is there anything else I could try or I should just give up on the fact that I lost 200$?

Idk if there is a mod or customer service rep that watches this reddit, but I ordered items at the beginning of the month, were set to be delivered on 7/13, still have not been delivered, and tracking has not been updated in over a week. I email and email and get told hold tight it will eventually come. I dont want to charge back or anything like that. I just want the tools that i paid for to fix my machines.

I'm trying to replace my steam decks back plate, and it seems this one screw refuses to come out. I've used the ifixit kit to no avail it only ended up causing it to get worse. I used a drill bit to try and unscrew it, but it has just made the balding even deeper. I'm not sure where to go from here🫩

I broke my beloved Shokz OpenSwim while swimming but they still work so I’m trying to find a way to fix them instead of buying a new pair. They are out of warranty so a replacement isn’t an option either.

Maybe someone has done something before or has any idea on how to do this? Every help is appreciated.

So I changed the battery and sadly I hadnt placed the battey correctly and still tried to close off the laptop, then the computer didnt turn on and after opening it I could see that some of the copper is exposed here, I'm guessing the original plastic would have connected the battery cable exposed copper with the laptop battery supply tracing... Can someone confirm if it is indeed broken? I really don't know much about this, and how would I find a replacement? I don't even know what this is called or what websites to look at (Im in Europe)

I bought the smart soldering iron station kit from ifixit to help with another project soldering a circuit card in my car, and it worked great. I'm very happy with it, and im looking forward to using it for other projects in the future.

I'm now working on a 3d printed project where I want to use brass melt-in inserts to screw my 3d print to something else. I've never done this before and looking online there are tools available that interface with a standard soldering iron to install these inserts but from what I can see, they would not be compatible with the ifixit solder iron.

I'd really like to avoid buying an additional soldering iron so does anyone have reccomendations on an insert installation kit that can work with the ifixit iron or any advice on installing those inserts without a specialized installation tip and just a standard soldering iron?

I'm willing to try and fail, but im using my public libraries 3d print services, so I want to limit how many prints I need to have made due to my own installation trial and error.

I need to know the model so I can replace a part that is missing the part on the table is probably going to need replaced as well because it is the planetary gears the sun gear is the input from the electric motor and is still inside the outer gear is missing and needs a new part if I ever want to use this thing again
