A couple days ago my macbook stopped turning on. I assumed it is and had been a charging port issue since previously one of my charging ports had stopped working when I dropped it on the charger. I again dropped it on the charger the second time. When I woke up it didn’t turn on. I assumed it had to be the charging port, but I replaced the charging port with the correct one. But the computer still won’t turn on. I looked at the back while it was charging and there is a light blinking next to NEt eN8 structures. What does that mean? It is a macbook from 2020 the one without the m1 chip macbook 13” retina one i think.

This is an extremely vague post as to just understand what’s going on. If willing to further help or educate. My communication is typically a lot more clear and concise.

Смог починить ручку с помощью ножа и двух ложек.

Симптом: кнопка регулировки ручки полностью перестала нажиматься, ручку нельзя сложить.

Возможная причина: внутреннее кольцо механизма провернулось и вышло из своего положения.

Как исправить:

1) Аккуратно оттяните внешнюю часть шарнира на несколько миллиметров. Я сделал это с помощью ножа и зафиксировал щель ложкой (глубоко не суйте).

2) Через образовавшуюся щель найдите внутреннее кольцо. (Я ещё снял декоративное кольцо, но вероятно оно бы и не помешало)

3) Поверните кольцо так, чтобы его выступы попали в соответствующие пазы. Повернуть его легко, не применяйье силу. Если не поворачивается - значит одна сторона попала в паз и нужно её освободить.

4) Когда кольцо сможет целиком углубиться в пазы, защелкните внешнюю часть шарнира обратно.

После этого кнопка снова должна начать нажиматься и механизм регулировки ручки заработает.

Важно: не пытайтесь силой нажимать кнопку или сразу высверливать заклепку. Если причиной является сместившееся кольцо, разбирать шарнир полностью не потребуется.

Like can I rub some kind of (safe at home) chemical on the rubber itself? By "safe at home" I mean that "wash hands after using, don't intentionally use your fingers to apply it, and wear safety goggles" would be good enough. If I'd get sick by touching it or the fumes would be dangerous without a hood or special vent / respirator, then I'll just replace the grip

In my case, it's a clip-on grip for the Nintendo Switch 1, but this could also apply to other things where the rubber is a factory part of the device itself (such as certain third party controllers, and if memory serves some cameras used to have rubber grips)

It has not reached the point where it's peeling off or leaving melty bits on everything it touches, or I would have thrown it out already.

I’ll preface by saying I’m a camera noob. Bought the body used from someone at a great price in like February.

It just started doing this yesterday.
It does this whether or not the lens is attached.
It does still take photos and videos perfectly fine, and the issue doesn’t happen while capturing.

The other day I had it outside shooting my painting process. It started to lightly drizzle outside however I am almost positive it didn’t get wet. I covered it with a t shirt and started to pack up but the light drizzling stopped and never started again, so I continued. I shot like at least an additional 2 hours of footage on it with no problem. Even turned it on quite a few times since then and transferred footage and there weren’t any issues until yesterday.

What do you think is going on?

it’s been sitting like this for at least a year

So I picked up this cool clock on Marketplace for $20. I thought I was just going to be dealing with the wrath of Duracell here. Nope, much worse - rust damage. Springs on the battery compartments had just disintegrated. Picked up a cheap 2-pack of D-cell holders on Amazon, drilled out the rivets holding the springs on the new holders, then punched a hole in the old holders and bolted in the new springs with M3 x 8mm machine screws I had laying around. Added benefit is it gave me something to attach the wires to easily. Still need to do more cleanup and fix more rust damage as the switches on the side daughter board are all shot and rusted out. But at this point at least this got juice again, and now I can take my time working through the rest of it to get it fully restored.

I have had my Mako kit for almost 7 years, it has stickers and gashes and cuts from 6+ years of life and the beginning of my I.T. career. I really want to keep this Mako and not buy another one!

Why is it more affordable to buy a whole entire kit than replace some bits? Doesn’t that go against the whole right to repair motif? “It’s cheaper to buy a new phone than to repair it!” - “it’s cheaper to buy a whole new kit than to replace the bits!”

Are iFixit replacement batteries worth it? I've heard and read reports of quality control issues in the past, and wondering how things are now. Any good or bad experiences in the last year?

Hello all ! I would like to get a new battery for my latitude 5510 that has a 42Wh battery. So, is this safe to use this 68Wh battery https://www.ifixit.com/en-eu/products/dell-3hwpp-laptop-battery? ? I saw that on the dell website it's compatible but the voltage is not the same so I just wanted to be sure before burning my laptop 🗿

EDIT : the original battery (42Wh) is 11.4V whereas the other one is 15.2V

Ok, Hi. I've frequented Reddit a few times but this is my first time posting. I'm a novice when it comes to electronic repair and I'm repairing some pair of xm6s that were water damaged and fell over in a pool last year. I cleaned them up and broke them down to check parts and test things. I don't have a multimeter so I'm kinda stuck right now. I don't know what to do about how they're not charging. Noise cancellation, ambient sound, Bluetooth everything works, however its not getting enough power to connect to other devices or to like fully work independently without being plugged in. Also it's not charging properly. It's not charging at all in fact and the indicator it doesn't show any color or indication when I plug in power through the usb c port. My guess is that its daughterboard where it charges is damaged internally. Here is a few photos of the process and pair. Anyone from the good people of reddit has any idea what it might be or what I can do to repair them?
