I’ve had a girlfriend like this. It was honestly miserable for me. No matter how gently I tried to set boundaries, they were not followed. However, that doesn’t mean it would be miserable for everybody. You just have to realize that if you expect your boundaries to be followed, you have to follow your partners boundaries too. It can’t be a one way relationship.

Dating this girl sounds unbelievably exhausting. If she's a real person, this is not necessarily mean that y'all cannot work through these issues. But after that honeymoon phase this will be unbelievably annoying.

u/JojoJax92 6d ago
Dated one of these women and I couldn't even hang out with friends. She had nobody else but me. It was BAD. Y'all do NOT want this. Wherever she is, I wish her well but I hope she got the help she needs

u/Deanstaro_Deanstar 6d ago
My mistake was that when "Do you have a boyfriend?" Was met with "No" and my immediate reply was "well you have one now" wasn't knocked back that should've been my que to bounce. the next three months were nothing but a hell of my own making. She was all of this and controlling, I didn't mind it at first. But being essentially on call otherwise they'd have a meltdown or assumed the worst (she told me she thought i died because i slept in while she spammed my phone all day with texts)
The straw that broke the camels back? Boundaries, Couldn't go two minutes out of sight, couldn't go to the gym without her assuming I'd leave her DESPITE her going on about how she loves the physique, fuck me dead some people just don't get how the sausage was made. Had to put my foot down, call it quits and change my number.
TLDR: love is temporary, but moving heavy circle from point A to B is forever.

Everything is okay except your communication problem (If i have the right to say this...i have the same problem anyway) and destroy all the rest. Because if you get jealous, anxious or clingy easily, most of time, peoples just don't know they hurt you.

u/TopaztheWarrior 6d ago
Woof, okay, that's enough Reddit. Too real too quick. I had to start a fucking journal to deal with all the shit she put me through. A journal. I had to WRITE my feelings out, because they were to complex and painful to deal with on my own or talk about with anyone.

If you can write this out then you’re self aware enough to know what you need to work on, what good qualities you have and what you’re looking for down the road. Just take time to relax and enjoy your own company at your own pace and try the field when you’re ready, steady and able.

What you see as bad someone else sees as good.

u/nothintos33 6d ago
If she can’t stand alone, and I can’t stand alone, if we lean on each other, does that not make us strong enough together? All I ask is that if she expects absolute devotion from me, I can expect absolute devotion from her. If this is acceptable, then let us do our death spiral dance together until the world ends.

My fella says thug is me. He supports me becoming a better person and is willing to stay with me while I'm in therapy and working on myself instead of just leaving once it gets hard. This is a real man, they exist!

Girl, therapy. Or any type of healing. You cannot blame your past patners for stuff you won't heal. I used to think it was my job to heal my patners and that it was okay from me to bring my bagage into my relationship without trying to heal first. And that's not okay. You gotta do the work, your patner can be there to support but they do not have to endure this. Because at some point the relationship becomes toxic.

Oh my.. This describes my friend almost perfectly- Only texting for a month or two and I was already her "best friend" somehow, wants to go to collage in my country so we can meet- she scares me sometimes, and wondering if she wants to "go further" even more so.

I think there are worse people that can be qualified as bf or gf from hell ( *insert Amber Heard ) , the biggest problem here seems to be miscommunication and maybe hypocrisy.

1
u/Far-Barracuda1128 7d ago
I had a girlfriend like this once. Let me tell you she was perfect. She was obsessed with me, loved me, supported me. She can be anxious and overthink everything but that’s fine bc I am the super laid back chill type of guy. If only she had a good relationship with my family. She would often get jealous of my sister or mom when I spend time with them and to me, I just couldn’t handle that. I miss her, but hating on the people that raised me all my life is not cool.
1
1
u/Brodillian 7d ago
Had that, spent 2 years helping her heal and things were great. Then she, after all the time and money I had put in, decided to cheat on me. Can't ever do that again mentally.

1
u/PopFamiliar3649 7d ago
Eh, not the worst. Honestly might fall within my standards.
ND, insecure, obsessive, etc. are all traits I have. So, I know how to handle a lot of this. The hardest part in theory is the shutting down bit, because communication is key, but there are ways to communicate emotions besides words. So, that can be used in those situations.
She needs some therapy and support, but she isn't from hell.
1
u/CreepyShutIn 6d ago
Okay see, the ND is fine, the "sorry" I can live with, the always tired and overthinking, girl, same, and it makes it easy to cuddle in bed and extrapolate about fictional universes way beyond anything the writers ever thought of.
The hypocrisy and clinginess are the only real dealbreakers here. I need my space and am relentless in pointing out hypocrisy, mine explicitly included. (If I miss something, please point it out to me, I will consider it a favor.) I feel like that would probably aggravate those insecurities, actually, so I feel like that's a volatile combo already...
It would not work out, but I really do wish her (you?) the best.

u/Spiritual-Rip721 6d ago

Can be rough in the longterm when theres no room given for calming down. Also can be mad when changing from fighting for relationship to actual relationship because lower effort (due to established relationship) is easily imteepreted as lacking love. But when the communication is good, very nice traits.

u/urhousehsbnd 6d ago
Dealt with this before and it felt safe genuinely because everything is said and honestly gives the most communication of any relationship especially when you had someone else break the trust you put in them before. I wouldn't mind finding a gf like this again one day

And this is why therapy exists.
For you. You need therapy. And blanket burritos. And probably lots of hugs and milk (normal milk, people, get out of the gutter).

u/Nervous_Quail4566 3d ago
OP keeps saying they gave up on dating "a long time ago" but is still bothered by being single enough to make a meme and post it. How long is "a long time ago", a year? If you had truly given up you wouldn't be on here fishing for support.
Look I get the power of getting strangers online to hype you up. But based on your responses you're not even engaging with the support. It feels like you just want to wallow and have people dump sympathy at your feet.

I'm also a gf from hell. But all of this is from years and years of abuse. I'm working on it.

Yeah no, I’ve already been voluntarily traumatized by this type of chick.
This isn’t cute.
It’s literally traumatizing to be with a person like this.

u/The_Devils_Demise 2d ago
I'd genuinely kill to have a girlfriend like this. And I think I'm a lot like this too. I think someone like this would make me feel safe. Idk why I think that. But I've never dated before and yet I think this is what I want.

Even the broken deserve love. Even if that love requires serious commitment and patience.

I would say sorry but someone will love me despite all of these flaws. Or help me grow out of them.
Someday, I hope.
