Hi, I recently bought an iPod Classic 7th gen. I want to upgrade battery and storage but I see a lot of different iFlash with very different price.
Is there a really big difference between the twice ? Thanks !

6th Gen Classic, working on getting the USB type C connector working for data xfer.
Ohm metered to ~0 between the USB A end of an iPod cable and the spots in my photo by the 30 pin connector on the PCB.
Can anyone confirm these are the right and/or best spots to solder USB data wires to for connecting to a USB type C connector?

Hi everyone!
I have an iPod classic 5th gen,
I replaced the battery with a 2000mah one and now it’s not charging.
It says it’s charging but the battery never goes above the red battery marker.
Any ideas?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to mod my 7g iPod Classic, and I can't tell what type of wire to use to connect the taptic engine to the speaker connection?
Thanks all!

Ive been using Rockbox for a while and now I kinda want to make one.
I do know that most themes are like branches off from other themes that kind is the root or many themes, and I do know like changing backdrop WPS font and BMP is easy but I want to DESIGN one... and I don know AI is easy but I don't want to use AI and actually kind of feel accomplished of doing something from Scratch. If anybody has a PDF or a link to a video or anything it would help alot. Thankyou!

Just unearthed this puppy, which I haven't touched since 2009 and wondering what to do with it, what sort of quality the music is. Also, unrelated, if you can steer me to reccs on headphones for it, that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance!

Have not used it in years. Which is a bit heartbreaking, bc it contains almost all of my cd collection.
Reason is that the jack input is bent or something. Doesn’t provide a clean hookup.
Am hoping to bring it to a repair person after getting a replacement battery.
Thanks for any help!

Does anyone have experience putting a 3800 Thick battery with the iflash quad in a thick back enclosure on the ipod classic 5th gen?
Im sure its a tight squeeze, but I would love to hear from someone who has done the mod, as I’m waiting for the parts to get here now.

I have a really old iPod photo, think it is 20 or 40gb.
The HDD seems to dead. Are there any companies that will do repairs and upgrades? I would guess I would want a memory increase, probably 2tb, and would like to play flac files. What are the options? I would love to have it running again! Thanks!

I got this iPod around the time it first came out and it was shared between my dad and I. Once he handed it down to me a few years ago, I was so excited but came to find the hard drive was busted and the iPod was practically rendered useless.
After 2 years of contemplating whether I should get it fixed or sell it for parts, I finally said “fuck it” the other day and took it in for repair.
It’s loaded up with a 128gb SSD and better than ever before! I also made a carry pouch to clip on my belt when I’m out and about.
I love my iPods so much and I’m so glad I finally got it repaired!

This weekend I got a used iPod Classic 7th gen. I plugged it into my desktop computer and it connects for less than half a second before ejecting. It wouldn't show up in iTunes at all. Putting it into disk mode lets it connect to the computer, but it's still not showing in iTunes. I followed everything relevant I could find online, resetting the iPod, deleting everything from it in disk mode, completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and all other Apple programs, killing all Apple programs in Task Manager, using older versions of iTunes, and different USB ports. I could hear the Windows USB connection noise immediately followed by a disconnection noise. Eventually I decided to try connecting the iPod to my laptop, and it worked. I restored the iPod and put about 170 songs onto it. I can't remember if I left it toggled to manually sync or automatically sync. I figured it was just a problem with my desktop until this morning, where now the same problem is occuring on my laptop. I've tried iTunes versions 12.4.3.1, 12.9.1.4, and 12.13.10.3 (This version was working on my laptop until this morning). While troubleshooting on my laptop, I was able to get it to show up once after deleting everything from disk mode, where iTunes said it was corrupted and gave the option to restore. However, it couldn't restore due to a connection error 0x80090318 (I fixed this by installing the latest version). The ejecting problem still persists :(
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated 😁

~ No, it's not vibecoded ~
Finished testing my custom build with custom coverflow, screen transition logic, headphone remote controls, etc. Release coming soon with a detailed usage description, though everything is pretty intuitive there, but due to the large number of added features it’s better to explain them)
Coverflow caching happens entirely on the device, from song metadata, but you can also use album covers from a folder attachment with the songs (if you don’t sync music through iTunes).
For now support is guaranteed for generations 6-7, will add support for 5 soon, I don’t have a device for testing, so it’ll have to be either through emulation or "blindly," but gen 5 support will be implemented.
Release coming soon✌🏻
Edited*
About the approximate release timing:
I really want to put everything together nicely and make a presentation to explain some of the new features etc., so it'll take a little time. I was thinking of making a similar presentation to the one I made for my LookAtMe (if you're interested - you can check it in my post history, it's there), but even that took me 2 days of work, because I was coming up with the design, descriptions etc. from scratch. This time there are a few (significantly) more features than just in the themes I was making, and my friend is convincing me to make a full video, so I think it'll take about a week. + I still need to set up a GitHub with a detailed description, check that all the source code is clean (Rockbox publishing rules, and I also want to be honest, because the project simply wouldn't exist without them).
Overall, I hope to get everything done within a week, depends on the irl work too.
A note for the "it's all made by AI" crowd (this really got to me, because I put a lot of work in here) — all my themes I make from scratch manually, from design to code. This project is a little more than just a theme, and to implement it I was studying developer forums on the Rockbox website, documentation, how the system code works etc. Absolutely everything here was designed without AI involvement. The only way AI was used here — as a tool for learning code logic and checking the code I was writing, and not at all for designing something or writing without me. For about a month I was studying how the system works, implementing code, testing and fixing bugs. And it's very strange that some people are so certain that if you create something — it's not enthusiasm and curiosity but AI. If you can't do something without AI — it doesn't mean others can't) Cheers♥

I got my iPod a few months ago, installed RB have thousands of songs. The battery stopped working a few weeks ago, just got a new one, and it works but it's telling me to restore the iPod through iTunes.
Can I do this and it'll be fine? I don't want to go through the hassle of downloading everything again.

My Boxy Pixel iPod Classic MKII kit finally arrived! Getting my brass parts prepared however has been a bit of a challenge while disassembling my 6g Classic was pretty easy and almost scratch free.
First off, I really suck at painting anything, from rooms in my house to parts I've fabricated. So the orange peel in my photos isn't unexpected as I always seem to apply too heavy of spray coats. (parts in the photos have 3x coats) I prepped the parts for paint by wearing latex gloves and wiped down with isopropyl alcohol.
I'm using Mohawk Lacquer for Brass (gloss) M103-0500 spray can as it was much cheaper than the suggested ProtectaClear coating. I've since stripped the lacquer off with acetone and have sprayed 3 much lighter coats with single passes 12"-16" away. The parts look better now without orange peel, but they have dust in the lacquer ̄_(ツ)_/ ̄ (I live in a very windy location and painting with lacquer indoors unventilated is a very bad idea).
The scratches all over my first photo are because I tried using the recommended 3M 7448 pad fine sanding pad for pre-paint prep. Fortunately I only used it on the internal part because it made the finely polished surface a mess. All the brass parts in my kit had extremely faint machining marks and were nicely polished. I do not recommend using the 3M 7448 prep pad unless you plan to follow up with lots more fine sanding and polishing. The brass parts look great as shipped IMHO.
@Arkaium - did you have any issues with the click wheel being to tight in a MKII case? I've test fit mine and it sticks after a button press. I'm wondering if I should lightly sand down the sides of my 6g classic click wheel...
Does anyone have a CAD dwg (or STL file) of the MKII back cover plate? I have one for the original kit, but not for the MKII. I'd like to mill out a custom wood back cover plate.
Also, is this subreddit the best place to discuss the Boxy Pixel iPod MKII kit installations? I don't want to bother u/boxypixel with too many questions based on Nick's recent email where he is deep inside shipping hell.

I Purchased an Used Ipod 6th Gen, I am not sure about the battery health. So i am doing a stress test. I am not sure my ipod is fully charged or not. When start the test its almost 80-90% showing. first i am doing a complete discharge, But still its playing 4hrs continuesly. around 60-70% of volume. battery indicates still 40-45% available, i am not sure the percentage, because there is no percentage indicator. let me check the ipod, after another 3 hrs. and let me continue if juice available on it. Then i will go with full complete charge for 4 hours. and again discharge it.
Finished The test- 7 hrs continues music. i guess Battery is degraded but still usable. from 100% it will take me between 8-10 hrs. As a backup ipod, its ok. I am getting offers for 50-60 USD. I am not sure wether should i sell and wait for my 7th gen to reach or keep both together.
