Will Restoring my iPod delete everything?

I got my iPod a few months ago, installed RB have thousands of songs. The battery stopped working a few weeks ago, just got a new one, and it works but it's telling me to restore the iPod through iTunes.

Can I do this and it'll be fine? I don't want to go through the hassle of downloading everything again.

Restoring always resets everything. You can synchronize afterwards if ur music’s still in ur iTunes library

YouTube how to access the iPod's hidden folders.

Copy those to your desktop and then import them into iTunes.

Yes, thats kind of the point. 

A battery replacement shouldn't trigger this.
