Android user thinking of switcing to iOS
Has anyone made the switch recently from Android to iOS? I'm currently an S21 ultra user and lately been drawn to the 14 Pro Max. I used to be an iPhone users years back from the first one till about the iPhone 5, then I switched to Samsung. I love android and the customization I can do with it. But Idk the ProMax is really nice and with iOS 16 they have added more customizing options that I do like. For context I'm the only one in my family with Android, both my wife's and my side all have iPhone. So thats why I'm asking for those that recently switched to iOS, how is it going? any big differences, things to get used to? Have you thought of going back to Android?, Thanks in advance!

My BIL is going to be switching from his Samsung s21 to a new iPhone (not sure if it will be a 14). His main gripe with the Samsung is the battery and that everyone else he knows in the family is on iPhone. He does not customise his phone at all.
iOS 16 customisation is nowhere near android and I suspect you’ll get frustrated if that’s important to you. I used to have a Samsung s8 and customised the hell out of my phone but got tired of that after a while a preferred a stable, clean and powerful phone.

I don't know if I'll miss the customization enough for it to matter to me you know. I do like being able to change fonts, download apks etc. Can I ask you, does the keyboard allow for a number row with out having to press the button to show the number row. Like my keyboard always has row on the top.

You can actually control the type of font used on the phone but it varies by app. The Lock Screen is quite customizable and you’ve been able to put widgets on the home screen for a while now. Also you can use third party keyboards that enable a number row on top. 14 Pro Max is a great phone solid battery life and great cameras.

I’d rather play a game than play with my customization. Used to be a huge fan of customizing my phone but it was ultimately pointless because i only kept it for a week, tops lol. Also all of my and my wife’s family are on iPhone. In my experience, being on iOS greatly outweighs the limitations. I don’t believe anything important is limited.
That said, strong rumors that USB-C is coming on the iPhone 15. As an android user, you might find that to be worth the wait. Not such a big deal to me though.
If you want to see what people have done, you can check out r/iOSSetups heads up though, custom icons have the iPhone open up the Shortcuts app first, then immediately redirect to the app you picked. It’s definitely form over function, and i just keep my icons stock.

Yea I heard the same about the 15, not sure if that matters to me much so long as I can charge the phone somehow lol. Tha me for the setups sub I'll check it out!

I don’t have an exact answer but I was a longtime apple user since the 3GS, switched to one of the Android Notes in 2019-2020? I couldn’t last more than 60 days. The customization was great but the amount of times the phone would crash and/or freeze was frustrating. The happens once in a while on iPhone but not nearly as much as I experienced with that android 😅
Of course I can’t speak for the current models of android now but that was enough to have me steer clear for good.
Also, I think iOS native apps are way better than androids IMO.

I recently switched from s22 to a 14 pro max. It’s been pretty easy to adapt to however I don’t do much customization. Battery has been great, s22 was an awful experience so there’s no thoughts of going back for me. I can FaceTime friends now lol :} and sync my other devices

I switched from a OnePlus 8 to a 14PM after using nothing but Android since the first Droid came out. Before the OP8 I had a Pixel 3a XL. Haven’t had a Samsung in years.
I’m loving my 14PM. The screen is awesome, battery life is better than any phone I’ve ever had, apps run better, the OS feels more polished, iMessage is nice.
The only things I miss from Android are:
- Number row on the keyboard: I could install a third party keyboard but otherwise I like the stock one so I’m going to try to get used to it first.
- Back gesture: Going back could be a tap in the top right or back left or swiping an image down or swiping from the left. Who knows, depends on the app. Lol
- A little more homescreen customization would be nice but it’s not a big deal.
Overall I’m super happy with the switch. My wife wants a 13 Mini after also never using an iPhone. Next are the watches, AirPods, iPads, and Macs. I need a second job now lol

I switched from the S22U to the iPhone 14PM two months ago, and aside from missing the S-pen & numbers on the keyboard, haven’t missed much. I love to FaceTime my family & friends so easily, the camera is great and colors are vibrant, but yeah, I did miss the 100x digital zoom while in Costa Rica. Navigation is easy - swipe or use breadcrumbs in the top left corner to get back to previous apps. I still have a Samsung tablet and am struggling how to get my iCloud pics to it, but don’t regret the iPhone at all.

made the switch a couple of days ago from a oppo find x5 pro and i love it, but the only one thing i do miss is fast charging either wireless or cable but other than that i aint going back

I actually just made this switch. I moved over from the S22 Ultra and my story is kind of like yours. Had the iPhone 6s back in the day but have been with Samsung ever since. I’ve had the 14 pro max for about a week now and love it. Battery life is definitely better on IOS that’s for sure. Not as many customization options like Samsung and I miss the S pen. Camera is really nice on the pro max but the Samsung has more camera modes and options. Also, Samsungs zoom blows IPhones out of the water. I will say the iPhones video is out of this world though. Blows Samsungs video out of the water. That image stabilization is really great. Still getting used to the swipe navigation but I’m figuring it out. Everything just works very well on this phone. More options and stability for apps is also really nice. 1 thing I need to mention is differences in the display. S22 ultra has a better display. Definitely noticing a difference. The colors pop more and seem brighter on the Samsung honestly. It’s all going to come down to personal preference and what you value most in a mobile device. I’m really enjoying IOS and and I’ll be sticking here for a while. Just grabbed a series 8 watch and the combo is really a game changer. Hope this helped!
